Great value for money, we had the 4-course lyonnaise menu, consisting of pork and fois gras terrine, pork cheeks in a rich gravy with potatoes, cheese and the praline chocolate cake, left really full and with drinks just over 70 euros, a special mention for the service we received, which is the best I've seen in a long time. All round... Brasserie Georges is a Lyon institution and has been in business since 1836. The place is huge and serves several hundred diners at a time. The home brewed beer is very good, and traditional Lyon dishes are served in very generous portions. My starter - a terrine de porcelet et volaille - was average, and the quenelles de brochet that... A great experience - a massive art deco brasserie (seating hundreds!), no reservations taken, just walk in, take a number, wait at the bar. Sooner or later, a table will free up! The food here tends heavily towards rich and generous portions, of impeccable quality. There is a frenzy to this place, but it never gets distracting. A required stopover... More

A huge barn-like Art Deco feel in this icon of Lyonnaise dining and the constant repetition of the 'happy birthday' song puts me in mind of a massive German beer hall, to be frank. The salmon in a tasty bouillon was perfectly cooked (accompanied by carrots, onions and mushrooms), but my friend's steak looked 'plonked' on its plate and rather... More

We left with our belt buckles loosened a few notches. Knowing the reputation for great sauerkraut we ordered 2 as main course for 2 guests. Food was succulent but could have fed a family of 4. Have some appetizers and share the sauerkraut! The beer on tap was cold and good. Bring your partner for birthday dinner and wait for... More

I'm a firm believer that who Holly get serving you on the day really makes or breaks the experience. This may have been the case here. The waiter didn't seem to want to serve us at all and when he did, we were told to order food in a different section, even through there was a good menu on the... More

I first visited this venerable brasserie about 50 years ago and it never disappoints. An enormous Art Deco dining room, which must hold 200+ diners at any one time, the atmosphere is exciting because of the crowds, architecture, and decoration. Renowned for choucroute, local specialities and its own beer, whatever is ordered is good. Brasserie Georges does not accept reservations... More

Exceeded our expectation is an understatement. The tartare de boeuf made in front of you and and the juicy boeuf au poivre are to die for.
