La Voute - Chez Lea (it actually has two names) is a small restaurant right off the Saone river across from the Cathedral St.-Jean-Baptiste and a short walk from the Place Bellecour. Its menu is replete with the local specialties (chicken with vinegar sauce, pike dumplings, a large selection of offal, etc) that are well-prepared and delicious, consistently so, but... More

We are staying at Hotel des Artistes (very good by the way!) which is just around the corner from this restaurant It's amazingly good. All the other people in the restaurant were French. I had salades des herbes with a dressing which was superb. I asked how it was made but it was a secret! The saucisson was very good... More

I found La Voute upon recommendation from my hotel, which was just around the corner. Dinner was extraordinary, a meal I will not forget any time soon. I enjoyed the Salade Lyonnaise et les Saucisson Chaud. My only regret was not being able to finish my meal. Leaving any of the meal untouched is nearly a crime! The ambiance is... More

I went there to try the tartare the saumon. Don't follow my example: it was the saltiest stuff I ever had! Next was the cervelle de canut. The presentation was kind of original (put on the plate with a pastry bag). The consistency was however as heavy as a brick. To conclude I ordered a noisette. It came with cold... More

Le Voute Chez Lea, what a very pleasant dining experience, lovely "entree" mackerel in aged vinegar and Lyon sausage with pistachios. Quenelles x 2 for mains.......absolutely magnificent followed by prunes in Armagnac and Valhrona Chocholat Gateaux all washed down with a lovely Red. Staff extremely helpful and spoke good English. Plenty of well to do locals who were obviously regulars.... More

We had lunch in this restaurant based on the recommendation of a friend from Lyon who thinks it is one of the current best 2 "bouchons lyonnais". Location - On a little square, close to the center. Easy to find and a nice walk in the neighbourhood afterwards. Quality of food - Excellent traditional local food. Service - It was... More

We dined at La Voute Chez Lea on the recommendation of our Hotel concierge, and it did not disappoint. I was in the mood for chicken, which is not popular in Lyon in the summer, but one of the signature dishes of this charming old-world style restaurant is their Chicken in Old Wine Vinegar, served with a side of macaroni... A charming traditional cafe. Friendly but non intrusive service, they easily translate and speak English. The food is traditional. The saussicon starter was good, it came in a creamy stock sauce. I had the chicken in a vinegar creamy sauce. Without the sauce the chicken is a little strong, but with the sauce it's really good. Try it. He had... More

Delightful little restaurant with very friendly and capable staff. Made us feel very welcome. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her filet, simply prepared with butter and mushrooms. I had the 3 course menu, a good value @ 29 euros. My chicken had a creamy rich sauce with a bit of tartness from vinegar -- an unusual, but tasty meal. The mesclun... More

Food lovers out there: this is the place for you!!! The menu offers a varied choice: as a starter we had macaroni gratin and as mains a tournedos grille each, one with an anchovy sauce and the other with a tarragon sauce. The desserts are unbelievably good as is the house wine. No wonder the locals frequent this place which... More
