Mediocre French fair and certainly not worth the 2 hours we had to spend sitting outside as there was no seating in side partially due to the wait staff not clearing the empty tables of dirty plates. We're not quite sure why the service was so bad but maybe we should have realised something wasn't right when we arrived the... More

Been recommend by our air bnb host and was really impressed. Pick the set menu as it's a great money saver... We had the octopus salad and the goat cheese salad... (SENSATIONAL!!!) I had to close my eyes and just "feel" those flavours in my mouth... And I am hard to impress to say the least.... The Fillet platter was... More

Resto Provençal is located in a busy and quirky area of town, full of graffiti. Cours Julien is like an immense square lined with numerous cafés and restaurants. Certain parts look run down and shabby, with homeless people sleeping under the trees and vandalised, smelly public toilets but, on the whole, the atmosphere is friendly. We arrived early for lunch... More

We visited Provencal on Tuesday 9.08.16 We took 2 evening menus, and what to say... really bad cuisine. Petty, cause the service was really nice! Starters weren't tasty, (salad with octopus - couldn't recognize any taste, same with my boyfriends salad with 'séchés'). I looked around, all the starters from a menu looks the same, dry salad with different adds.... More

Very busy restaurant with a nice outdoor seating but, unfortunately, offering rather mediocre cuisine. Our warm goat cheese on a toast with some greens on the side was something you can do better at home, and the panisses were not really panisses. The beef stew was completely unseasoned, prompting us to scramble for salt and pepper - something that a... More

The Resto Provençal is a hubbub of Marseille locals and lucky tourists who have ventured off the beaten track. The wait staff - one of the energetic owners and her young assistant - are amazingly attentive to all dining guests. We ate here two nights in a row which allowed us to try several menu options; everything was delicious and... More

Everything about this place was superb. The food was incredible, I suggest the tapanade with crustini and salad to start, followed by an excellent steak and baked potato. Delicious! And fabulous service.

All the restaurants along the seafront are pretty much the same. This is different. Friday night at 8pm and it was empty, a half an hour later it started filling up. Both the two fixed menus were sampled and the food was delicious from both. The crime brûlée is fantastic and the Rosemary custard elegant. Starters were very good and... More

A random selection having browsed the chalkboard menus along Cours Julien. The 18 euro menu offered variety and value. The terrace was a pleasant spot to sit and watch the locals enjoying their Saturday evening. The food was unpretentious and everything I chose was cooked well (baby cuttlefish and basil, duck skewer with goats cheese sauce and curd cheese with... More
