It was a freezing late January Tuesday night so the place was not full, but the staff were all friendly and attentive. The fish soup starter was excellent, deep and rich while the rouille had a nice tang. Sea bass baked in salt to follow, which was succulent and sweet and obviously fresh. So yes, you could say it's a... More

Long time ago, it was one of the places to go for great and inexpensive local cuisine but all this disappeared with the arrival of tourists. You might be very disappointed if you go there and you'll never ever see any local having a meal in this restaurant !!

I had a day trip to Marseille and of course I had to find a place to try the Bouillabaisse Marseillaise. The reason I picked Chez FonFon as it is not located in the tourist area and with quite high rating. The traditional fisherman’s bouillabaisse costs EUR53 for 1 person plus 15% which is quite pricey. The soup was made... More

A nice setting - not plush, more of a fancy café feel. Wait staff were welcoming and friendly. The bouillabaisse... well... I'm reluctant to criticise it because perhaps it represented authentic bouillabaisse. The serving was certainly generous. Lots of fish... but it seemed dry and overcooked to me. The broth was tasty. I loved the garlic rouille and aioli. But... More

We dined at Chez Fonfon. Ordered bouilabaisse for 2 and it was excellent with a lot of fish. We were constantly offered soup refills and the staff were attentive. Price not cheap but certainly not exorbitant especially in view of the quality of the food and their "pedigree". Highly recommended.

We celebrated my birthday in Fonfon last week and we were not disappointed. We ordered the catch of the day and the famous fish soup which were all delicious. I can only recommend this place - not the cheapest but worth trying for a special occasion or to taste the best fish soup in town

Food was good. However I have been to less high end bouillabaisse places but that were featuring a more authentic cuisine (I grew up in Provence). The really sad part about this place is the service. Our table of 7 was constantly asking for refills of broth, water and bread croutons. Given the mandatory gratuity for larger groups and the... More

The restaurant has a great view and classical setting. While we were excited to have authentic Bouillabaisse, I can't say this was earth shattering.

Came here as every other place in Marseille was charging on average 50 euro a person and you have to order for 2. This restaurant you can order individually and don't have to share in case the other person wants to order something else. Service was a tad slow as our waiter kept forgetting out wine order. No rush as... More
