As you turn down one of the main streets in the city center of Albi, roughly 7 minutes by foot from the cathedral, you turn to find a lovely cove of a cul-da-sac full of umbrellas, twinkly lights, and red french bistro chairs against the...facade of a medieval building.
We made a reservation for 12:30pm on a Sunday afternoon, and happy we did as the place was full by 1:00pm.
The menu had a decent amount of choices, not to many/not too few, and there was a few options for a prix fix menu ranging from 29 to 32 Euros. For three courses, I thought this was a great price.
I opted for the Italian salad with Burrata and a variety of heirloom tomatoes. I was thankful for the generous amount of tomatoes, and basil tasted fresh, yet I did not quite understand the pairing of almost a sorbet of basil and who knows what (it had a subtle sweetness). While it made the dish look visually enticing, I did not think it added to the flavor.
My husband selected the prix fix menu of watercress gazpacho w/egg, Duck, and carmel sundae for desert. He loved it, and enjoyed it all!
The waiters were very sweet, however, I must mention that all of the tables around us received their main courses before us. We were sitting an hour into lunch with only the gazpacho having been served. Eventually at close to two my patience did dwindle, and I went to ask where our food was. We then received it within minutes. I am still unsure why this occurred, but I think the team would benefit from an additional one or two wait staff during the rush.
Overall, the ambiance was great and the food tasted amazing.More
