Nicely located inside a hotel in the medieval city of Carcassone, we had lunch on the terrace. The set menu was very reasonably priced, the food excellent as was the service. Overall an afternoon to remember, highly recommended

Best meal I ever had. 8 course tasting menu with matching wines. Staff were all superb especially the sommelier Baptiste. Food was amazing. Well worth the money. Outstanding.

If it's a high end experience you're looking for the this is hard to beat. The restaurant atmosphere the staff and the amazing food all contribute to an unforgettable evening. We went for the Taster menu and were treated to a set of six superb dishes. Each different, each memorable for the lovely presentation and delicate tastes.

We took friends to the Barbacane restaurant for a Sunday lunch. The food and ambience were all superb. We had a three course meal plus amuse bouche to start, and mignardises with our dessert, plus a glass of white wine with our first course and red with our main course, bottled water if desired, and coffee, all included in the... We've visited the area a number of times stayed at the Hotel de la Cite and eaten here twice. The second time I made a point of returning with my mother to celebrate a "special" Birthday and also because I'd banged on about how great our first experience was there that it just seemed cruel not to be able to... I don't know where to start...I left the restaurant already planning my return and thinking of those I could share such a treasure with... The setting is 1920s/1930's club style...wood pannelling, attractive cocktail bar. The dining room is elegant and understated. The wine list is exquisite - I confess that I did not get further than the regional wines for... More

La Barbacane is in a beautiful building with a very luxurious old world feel! The dining experience is similar, with a very proper, reserved feeling. The food is very good as well, but nothing very innovative. We had a lovely time, but we are personally more attracted to creatively presented meals at Michelin restaurants.

We booked in advance through our hotel, and I think this is usually required. Best meal we had in Caracassonne and would completely recommend. We went for Sunday lunch and had a 4 course meal, with champagne and wine, for €35 per head. Food was divine, service excellent and ambiance great. Would completely recommend - and successfully encouraged friends to... More

Delightful surprise lunch for my birthday last week. Set menu very good, the choices not my favourites but all very good and wine excellent.the dining room is stunning, service attentive, friendly and unobtrusive. My dessert choice of Rhum a la Baba (normally avoid this as usually sickly sweet) was just superb - light, fresh, elegant, in short DIVINE. Wish I... More
