My favorite in the 1st arrondissement was closed, so I tried "Le coude à coude", about 200 meters down, rue Saint Honoré. A pleasant surprise. The restaurant is small, and was quite full. An interesting mix of neighbours sharing a drink, either stanfing at the bar or sitted, and people eating: group a freins, a family with young children... An... More

We stumbled on this tiny little place while looking for a nightcap and then went back for dinner. The 2 gals that run the place are full of energy and serve up some incredible food at a very reasonable price. They have a good selection of wines by the glass as well as by the bottle. We had the seafood... More

We wanted a typical French restaurant, but not too high. We were brought in by the sign out front offering 19.50 Euro per plate specials with a choice of appetizer, main course, and desert, along with a Royal Kir to start. It looked fine, and the nice gentleman translated the parts that we could not understand. We ordered the meals... More

We were exploring Monmartre when the rain came on.We looked at afew places but the rain was getting heavier and heavier so we gave up and called in at this small bar/rest at 17 Rue Custine. What a surprise! The waiter told us they had only recently started opening at lunchtime normally open evenings only. We had hot goats cheese... More

We decided to try this restaurant going by the reviews on here and it being close to our apartment. We ordered a glass of white wine, which tasted like it had been open for a week, we had t exchanged (no problem) for a Pinot Gris, which turned out to be some kind of sweet wine. Food: ingredients are fresh... More

We had one of our first meals in Paris at this unassuming little establishment on St Honore and loved it. If you at seeking an authentic local dining experience (ie the menu does not come in 7 different languages) give this a go. The owner fronts the restaurant and speaks very little English, so you must work for your food,... More

Very small, typically basic French food. Small enough for one waiter who was very pleasant.

Went here because of the reviews. Discovered that it had new owners and the food was a real disappointment.

Staying in Les Halles

Neighbourhood Profile
Les Halles
Historically the central iron-clad market of Paris, Les Halles has evolved architecturally since then but the pulsating energy has stayed the same. Now it houses the main shopping mall, which nestles underground surrounded by fast-food take-aways and international restaurants coupled with beautiful churches and the old commodity exchange. Parallel to it are the high-street stores of Rue de Rivoli and just parallel to that the Seine. The area bustles with faces from all continents and all ages at all times of the day. If enjoying high-street shopping with easy access to fast eateries and lively bars is on your agenda, this is the place to go.
