Legendary, this place. The huge dining hall is an exceptional testimony of the Belle Epoque. Waiters are among the most professional in France. Why they focus so much on their curry as their specialty, in a typical French brasserie, remains a mystery to me. Be...prepared to hear a lot of Happy Birthday tunes, as people go there for this occasion and be served that special birthday piece-of-art cake (beware, it is not edible)More

The atmosphere is the old-fashioned atmosphere of very many decades ago. The service is very good indeed and the seafood my partners had, was superb. everyone in our party ordered a different wine and all were enthusiastic. However, the steaks that were ordered were of...lesser quality.More

We had reserved a table at La Coupole, recommended by friends that come to Paris frequently and also like eating at Brasserie style restaurant with an authentic French flavor. Nice buzz in the restaurant, but we are very disappointed about the quality of the signature...dishes we had chosen especially. Their typical French union soup had not flavor at all, obviously the chef must not have tasted it himself, or he is on holidays and did not delegate his responsibilities very well. What a shame!!! As main dish, we had chosen the "famous curry" which recipe existed since 1927 apparently. .... HOW???? Again, no flavor or whatsoever in the curry. The meat was nice and tender, but had no flavor or whatsoever. How do you dare to call this a curry. Just don't get it. I have had curry's at lovely restaurants like the blue Elephant and The Rose in England, perhaps your chef should go on an internship there and change his recipe. Curry's should not be bland, but wow you as a customer with the intensity of its Asian flavors. NOT here. Do yourself a favor and skip this dish as well. J. The "huîtres degustation" was ok, but that is hard to mess up by a chef, unless they are not fresh, but you would smell that or it would have a serious impact on our health. Though in general we are ok with the service from the waiters and maître, what is not ok, is that the maître took our olives away from the table, when we had not finished them yet at all. He did not even ask if he could take them away. Big mistake! Will I come back here? Certainly not. Next time If we go to Paris, we will book a table at one of the better Brasseries instead, like Bon George, another recommendation, we actually wanted to visit, but is was fully booked for many weeks to come, it figures probably why... fingers crossed when we visit Paris next time.More

Initially a bit overwhelming as it is a large place, not intimate. Once seated, however, we had the chance to look around. Historic theater district restaurant. Very arty, with many art scenes painted on the columns and pictures of Paris life adorning the walls. Menu...was varied with a large fresh shellfish selection that was an attraction to many diners. Many locals seemed to frequenting the place. We had the steak and pork chop dishes. Good but not anything special. Worth a one time visit for a special occasion.More

Not my first choice should we return to Paris. Our side salad came late and was basically leaves in a saucer. Nothing more. Our beef casserole was tough, full of grisel. Dessert was disappointing. The washrooms are down 2 flights, but there is a handicapped...facility on the main floor. Next trip we will definately go somewhere else. Paris is full of good restaurants.More

This venue was recommended to us by fellow Australians who are frequent visitors to Paris. We were a group of 18, pre-booked, set menu (2 or 3 choices) - orders placed 3 days prior. This was our final dinner for a premium priced European coach...tour via a reputable company. It was a 6pm seating, so the restaurant was quiet, plenty of staff for when it became busier around 7pm. The tender beef casserole was certainly slow cooked. The cut of beef was poor quality for many who ordered it - in my example, around 20% was gristle. Many others had a similar problem. My partner had cod fillet. Poorly filleted with no less than 9 bones. A colleague had Indian vegetable curry and basmati rice. He reported a near absence of both curry and rice. The time taken between delivery of the first and last meals on each of the two tables was many, many minutes for both the main course and dessert. I could point out other shortcomings, but I really don’t feel it’s worthwhile exerting further energy on this unique and renowned outlet. I had to follow up on 2 drink orders on each occasion. The staff seemed disinterested. Maybe the review should go via the tour company, but the service provider was where there was the moment of truth. Lucky it was 2 stars - venue was remarkable and staff were well presented. As mentioned, it was part of a premium priced tour. Hopefully your food quality and service will be much better.More

We came early and this allowed us to enjoy the views in this big brasserie in the heart of Paris. By 8 o'clock the restaurant is crowded and you see the people, but forget to look at the architecture and the pictures on the walls....The food is surprisingly good and the staff puts on a classy show serving you. It is not cheap, but certainly worth the price.More

The restaurant is gorgeous and unique from an American perspective. The food and desserts were very good. We ordered ravioli, fish and steak and all were very good. The service was not exceptional but OK. This is our second time in Paris and second time...we dined there and I would love to go back largely because the setting is IMHO so French.More

I cannot rate this restaurant highly enough. It is a traditional Parisian brasserie, serving traditional French food, cooked, presented and served to a very high standard, yet it is extremely good value for money. Half a dozen oysters, a huge steak with bearnaise sauce and...frites, and a dessert cost no more than I would have paid in Manchester, and less than some places I can think of. The decor is fabulous, Art Deco throughout. We had a table at the centre of the restaurant, under the dome which gives it its name. The service was impeccable. The staff were very pleasant and extremely professional. They worked hard to ensure that we had a great dining experience. I was celebrating a significant birthday, After the meal the waiters brought over a fake birthday cake with an indoor roman candle sparkling away. The waiters, and many of the other guests sang joyeux anniversaire and applauded me. It was a great experience.More

I got terribly sick after eating moules frites two weeks ago. It completely ruined my stay in Paris for several days. I wrote a message on the website, but never received an answer. This is sad, since it’s been a tradition for us to visit...the restaurant once a year when in Paris. This was the last time😳More

Such a disappointment. La Coupole has been on my bucket list for ages. The restaurant itself is beautiful, with art deco of the very minimal style. Service was good, apart from the annoying attempt to up sell me the oysters to a more expensive type....I had the fish choucroute. A hearty, traditional dish that was substantial although not particularly attractive to look at. I came to regret this choice when I was violently sick all night. My main beef is that La Coupole is no longer the glamorous place it once was. Aware of the irony (although we do live in Paris), it was full of tourists. Badly dressed, ie casually dressed. That should have been our warning. For a date night, it didn’t feel remotely special. Ticked off the bucket list, but won’t return.More

I got sick from the lunch I had at La Coupole. I am 100% sure. The rest of my family was fine, and their lunch was good. But not mine. I have written to the restaurant twice since, but they do not reply, and it...has been almost 2 weeks now. To me it seems, that they are so big and have so many tourist coming through the restaurant, that they don´t really care.More
