I've been here a few times, each time is amazing. From the appetizers with the buffet and vegetable basket, to the main course and desert. They have all you can drink wine, but since I don't drink alcohol they brought unlimited coke. The ambience is also amazing with very friendly staff.

Took some friends here for dinner, after coming here in 1984- and it did not disappoint as this is a good fun restaurant that offers a good and fun menu even though it is set. They also had a very good guitar player who did a good job getting everyone involved. Food was good but the atmosphere and decor is... More

Last visit was in September 16 for a solo lunch. Went back during the last visit in Apri with the wife for dinner. Slightly impromptu as we were walking in the Marais, went to the Pompidou cente and decided to try NALG for dinner without booking. Fortunately it was relatively early on a Friday evening and we were allocated the... More

A unique experience, one price for all you can eat and drink (good red wine), the waiters in "old Celtic" attire. The vaulted, brick walls and ceilings, and simple furniture, walls decorated appropriately, all make for a cheery atmosphere. Quality of food very good and abundant, make your own salad from ingredients in basket on table. Cheeses and sausages for... More

Visiting with our granddaughters and were looking for a fun place to eat. Surprised we were able to book a table for 4 the same day. Food was nice, but not amazing. Specifically liked the basket of fresh vegetables and fresh bread on the table. Costumes of the servers were a little "cheesy", but everyone was helpful even though our... More

We took a large group from all over the world and you couldn't do better in terms of location on Île St Louis with the Gallic ambience. Copious if basic salad , but with a number of saucisses and pâtés to give some traditional flavour, main courses from entrecôte, duck , wild boar sausage, salmon and more and a choice... More

Fun evening with four course meal, with as much red wine as you can drink, for €40. Great atmosphere, with live entertainment (two blokes with guitars!) and waiters/hosts dressed like characters from Asterix the Gaul, as well as some of the punters breaking into song! Simple, but tasty, food, although the basket filled with vegetables on the table for us... More

Great duck confit, super roast chicken...in a building that dates back to the fifteen century. Loads of atmosphere, very well priced. Nice waiter. We had a great, leisurely lunch on a quiet street away from the madding crowds. Apparently at night, things become pleasantly raucous as every channels their inner Asterix.

This is a classic tourist trap in the best sense. Make your own salad, eat sausages and patés and then move on to the meat and finish off with cheese. Red wine is poured from barrels and quite good (at least after the third pitcher!)

When you step into this timeless venue, you will discover a festive restaurant straight out of a storybook and the imaginary world of Asterix. The success of the well-known concept is based on a simple, but effective idea: long rows of tables, mixed salads, grills and wine served from the barrel, all in gigantic quantities. Also worth mentioning is the outstanding welcome which contributes to the friendly atmosphere.

Staying in Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis

Neighbourhood Profile
Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis
Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité, sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island, welcomes you with cozy traditional eateries, small boutiques, and what some people say is the best ice cream in the city. This is essential Paris from its very beginnings to its modern appeal.
