We had a lovely meal here, waiter was so helpful with translating the whole menu for us and the wine he recommended was perfect. Very meat based menu which was perfect for our party of 5 and the price was great, around €40 each for 3 courses with wine. Perfect

We walked past this on our way elsewhere after already dining, but it looked so cosy we said we'd find it again after our visit to the Opera House the next day. We made a few wrong turns but did manage to find it and we're glad that we persevered. The best wine we had all visit, loved the food... More

We ate here on our first night in Paris following our long flight from Australia. The food here is always reliable but a little basic. The place fills with locals and a few tourists. As it is not expensive, always friendly and welcoming, you can't go wrong but there are many more sophisticated, and generally more expensive, restaurants around.

After searching high and low for a decent meal in Paris we were thrilled to stumble on this great traditional restaurant in 2nd arrondissement, with nice vibe, great staff, good wine list and generous meals with the best ingredients. Not pretentious and head and shoulders above all recommendations from friends. We say ignore all recommendations but this one!

I knew this restaurant for more than 20 years when I was a student and came back for a diner with a friend in march 2016. Last time I came there was more than 8 years ago. The owner and the team changed however the cuisine is still the same. The "pave au Poivre" and the "Saint Marcellin" are awesome.... More

Definitely must go, preferably early - it gets ridiculously crowded, as any good spot in Paris! Get their steak tartare (OMG!) and the "rhum baba" dessert, which is guaranteed to get you drunk pure on its own. A-ma-zing.

We booked ahead for a Friday evening following a recommendation from friends - the taxi driver had no idea where the place was as it is tucked away nicely down a side street. A proper charming French restaurant, the tables are set out in rows and the menu is small, with the specials and the wine choices written on chalk... More

We were recommended to go there by a friend and thought it was going to be a modern, semi formal restaurant. We can't be more wrong. Turned up all dressed up to a ' home kitchen '! Man, was I embarrassed!! And to make the matters worse, we were seated in the center of the restaurant. ' Doh ' moment... More

Checkered tablecloths, menu of the day written on a massive slate, saucissons hanging from the ceiling: yep, you're in a French bistro! Expect good wine, pâtés, meat, cheese, eggs mayonnaise and the likes. Very friendly service and atmosphere. Go if your in the neighbourhood.

Located between the old Stock Exchange (Bourse) and the Auction house (Drouot), this bistro served generation of brokers and dealers and has been passed, few years ago, to the management of a young a dynamic couple that are committed to continue the tradition. Still resisting to the wave of more trendy global food, this bistro remains authentic and still serve... More

Staying in Opera / Bourse

Neighbourhood Profile
Opera / Bourse
The neighbourhood around Opéra and Bourse is a belle époque paradise of grand boulevards, refined arcades, and mass-market art-nouveau entertainment. Here, modern day workers continue to take advantage of the legacy that nobility and finance left in the 19th century. Brightly-lit brasseries, theatres, and cinemas sit side by side with French bistros predominating in one area and Japanese restaurants in another. The area is most famous for the Palais Garnier opera house and glamorous department stores.
