Nice atmosphere, good wine, reasonable food but the service could be (much) more courteous. Never mind, there are plenty of brasseries just around the corner.

Last day in Paris and 1.30pm. All eateries full and a couple of places had run out of food. We stumbled across this restaurant which you could say "jagged it!". Waiter spoke English (with the requisite accent) and made an effort to find us a table. A very french menu which was fully explained with full Parisienne gusto and enthusiasm.... More

Wonderful spot for afternoon glass of wine with pate. Friendly service, eclectic atmosphere, near the institutes so numerous academics, and other interesting fellow customers. Outstanding choices for wine, typically inexpensive. Highly recommended!

Food is very good and not that expensive regarding to its quality. Waitress is nice, knows what she talks about regarding to wines. A bit noisy and crowded on the downside

We've left before we even ordered. Very rude staff. There are plenty of great places near by, don't ruin your evening by coming here.

2 bottles (a red & a champagne) listening to hip eclectic American-ish/jazzy music and people watching. Yummy oysters, cheese plate, and foie gras. Pleasant, chill service, great young vibe, a wonderful way to watch the passers by and relax.

Le Cafe de la Nouvelle Mairie is an adorable little french restaurant. The wine selection (organic) is spectacular. Benjamin the owner is very friendly and welcoming. The food is delicious! The menu is written on a chalkboard with the best options available for each day. Oysters were INCREDIBLE!

An outstanding address. If only all the Parisian cafes were like this. Excellent wines by the glass, great ambiance.

We popped in here for an early lunch whilst strolling round the Latin Quarter. The kitchen didn't open until noon, but they were quite happy to serve us at 11:45 with a wonderful cheese board, bread and a delicious salad. Sat on the street tables, relaxing in the late morning sun watching the world go by - superb

One of this places that one imagines to hit upon when visiting Paris. Unfortunately places like this become rare and rare. The atmosphere is laid-back but there is a pleasant buzz. Staff is enthusiastic young and knowledgeable. Food is homy and simple but enjoyable. Think mashed potatoes with blood sausage. Simple steaks, terrines etc. Nice chalkboard full of the latest... Staying in Quartier Latin

Neighbourhood Profile
Quartier Latin
The Latin Quarter bursts with intellectual life, architectural splendour and ongoing merriment. The small streets are filled with classical buildings, student bars and lively eateries while the squares are dominated by historic monuments. The area is defined by the 800-year-old Sorbonne University, where Latin once prevailed, and is famous for the Pantheon which celebrates the great men and women of France. During the day students rush from classes to the library and intellectuals people watch from the terraced cafés. As night time falls the surrounding establishments fill up and the merriment really begins. The liveliest parts are around Rue Mouffetard, lined with crêperies and international street food eateries, and Place de la Contrescarpe characterised by terraced brasseries, this neighbourhood provides real nourishment for the mind, belly, and soul.
