We walked past and checked the menu on the window and the restaurant was quite busy so we thought we would risk it. We had a choice of upstairs or down. We chose up. The tables were very close together with absolutely no room to move. After your first course and observing you realise why this is. We had the... More

If you are a loud tourist, have loud kids, can't adapt, gawk at locals, don't know how to act--don't go. This is historic, filled with locals. Like stepping back into a real Paris. Please don't ruin it.

According to the Figaro, french newspaper, La Rotonde is among the ten best restaurants for steak tartare. Very well prepared (I have asked the chef to prepare it for me) and seasoned, the steak was delicious. I really recommend this restaurant!

I came here with my family last week for dinner on the night of the French elections. We had no reservation and they accommodated our group of 5. The ambience, the meal, and service were EXCELLENT! We had escargot (yummy butter garlic goodness) and I had the chicken Caesar salad for dinner. It was the BEST caeser salad I have... More

A Paris institution that lives up to its reputation. Just an amazing restaurant/ brasserie on Montparnasse. A famous hang out for Paris society and visitors alike. (Macron victory dinner and all that, hehe) Menu features many French classics and an extensive wine selection. The veal carpaccio starter is very memorable. The duck I will have again and again and again.... More

We had the last dinner of our trip here on a recent Friday. We had a lovely table by the window to people watch while we had a delicious, leisurely and satisfying meal. Our service was quietly attentive, recommendations were made and all our choices were as good as the last. Two+ hours after sitting down, we wandered home after... More

This is one of my favorite places in Paris, historic with gorgeous interior with Modiglianis on the walls. The cuisine is excellent and solidly French. The main problem right now is that they have become too busy due to the fact that a week ago Emmanuel Macron went there with some of his supporters after he won the first round... More

Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighbourhood Profile
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighbourhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighbourhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
