From the piano player to the classic cocktails, the restaurant has an amazing old world charm. The restaurant seems to be frequented by regular locals who are knowingly greeted by the staff. The professional staff provides five star service throughout the experience. The béarnaise sauce...was excellent with my filet. The restaurant also offers a wide variety of fresh oysters and seafood options.More

I had dinner here last week and it was terrific in all respects. I was with my son and we were celebrating his 30th birthday. The food, wine and service were all excellent. I told the server that it was my son's birthday and his...dessert was accompanied by a candle and Happy Birthday music from the excellent pianist. A great evening all around!More

With my 2 sisters, we decided to go to "Closerie des Lilas" as the last treat of the year and to celebrate us not having seen one another for some time. After what appeared to be a lovely evening enjoying decor, food and service, the...latter suddenly turned widely disrespectful and insulting!!! To start of, the "commis" started asking really personal and inquisitive questions and asking us if we were sisters? None of his concern but after answering "yes", he then insisted on saying that it was not true nor possible. Starting being annoyed at his repetitive "that's not possible, are you sure?", we asked him why that wouldn't be. And the answer was simply SHOCKING: "Well, the two of you are thin, but this one is fat." EXCUSE ME?!! Thinking we didn't understand well, we asked him to repeat, to what he added gestures to accompany his words and making sure we understood him well! WHAT IN THE HELL was this?! We called for a manager that went at first talk to the wrong person, and, after pointing at the body shammer, they then decided to send him talk to us ALONE, without any supervision nor INTEREST shown by the management! Cherry on the cake, they made us pay THE ENTIRETY of the 300€+ bill, blaming his "bad English" for what have just occurred! As far as I know, the gesture showing "fat" is understandable internationally, and our French OR ENGLISH were clearly not at fault here, nor was HIS! If your team do NOT speak French NOR English, how could you let them on the floor and cautioning THIS DIGUSTING behavior, not even APOLOGIZING and asking for full payment?!!!! Do people come to your venue to be INSULTED and PAY for it?! UNNACCEPTABLE SERVICE, UNNACCEPTABLE ANSWER FROM MANAGEMENT. WE WILL NOT LET THIS GO QUIETLY!More

After a great sunny day in Paris strolling in the marvelous streets, under a blue wintery sun with my parents, i decided to bring them and a friend to the Brasserie, Great food, not a lot but great. Swordfish, nice truffle juice and the risotto...was overcooked. But good. The desert was way way way too sweat. Which ruined my palate. I'll go back. Thanks for reading and have a great lifeMore

THIS RESTAURANT JUST RUINED MY CHRISTMAS!!! I've been planning this trip to Paris months ago, we are fully vaccinated, we have EU certificate, we went to many restaurants and places, our certificate worked perfectly well, otherwise we wouldn't even have left Ireland, we wouldn't even...had passed through security in the airport. We had a dinner reservation for tonight booked a month ago when we got there tonight THEY DID NOT LET US ENTER THE RESTAURANT! Saying that our one single dose of Janssen is not acceptable, that our vaccination certificate is not valid! To get into France you don't need a test if you're fully vaccinated, but we decided to do in Ireland last night anyways and it was negative, even trying to show it they did not let us enter the restaurant! We got in Paris this morning, we went to coffee places, another restaurant for lunch and our certificate again worked perfectly well!!! La Closerie ruined, ruined my Christmas! The whole point of our travel to Paris was to spend Christmas here and they ruined! They not even tried to get a solution, try to scan the certificate with an updated phone. I'm mad, angry, not even words to describe how horrible they were and useless. I'm in tears... literally crying while I write this review...More

This restaurant had been recommended, so I booked a table for a friend visiting from London, who appreciates fine food. The restaurant has character and history, with a Hemingway connection. The staff were welcoming and a piano was being played which added to the atmosphere....We were well looked after by M Collin and had a very nice meal which didn’t disappoint in any way. We ordered the lamb and the Hemingway steak, which is flambé and finished in the room. We were there for three hours, but enjoyed the evening. It seemed like a place on the tourist trail with a number of renditions of “happy birthday” from the pianist/singer, but this did not detract from the quality of the food, which I have to say, was slightly more expensive than expected. On the right occasion I shall go again.More

We went to this restaurant because it was recommended and because it was historical. We were told to eat in the brasserie which we did and it was delightful. However that’s where the story ends. The service was lacking. We had to order our appetizer...twice because the waiter forgot and we had to tell the roving manager to please bring our wine because, again, the waiter wasn’t responding. I ordered the poached haddock which was in a very loose sauce without much flavor. the french fries were ordinary as was the bread. I looked at the menu for the restaurant and was surprised to see that it was much less robust than that of the brasserie.More

We went to Closerie des Lilas for my birthday meal. I hadn’t actually heard of the restaurant before but we had walked past it the night before and it looked lovely and attractive with its plants and terrace area. we read the menu and there...was a vegetarian option and so decided to go there for my birthday. We ate at the brasserie, the more casual part of the restaurant. The staff were polite and friendly and everything started well. We ordered two glasses of champagne (17 euro each) and were served a small bowl of crisps as an accompaniment. There wasn’t a vegetarian starter other than boiled eggs and so we went straight for mains. My husband ordered the steak and chips, and I ordered the vegetarian pasta. I also ordered a lychee martini. The pasta arrived and looked nice, however on closer inspection there was a hair on the cheese. My husband called a waiter who didn’t seem to understand the problem of having a hair in my dinner and asked to take the piece of cheese out. We said we wanted a replacement dinner. It was a bit awkward and not handled very smoothly, and in the meantime my husband’s dinner was going cold. He enjoyed his steak, but the chips were disappointing. We had to ask twice for bread. When my food returned it was scalding hot and pretty boring for a tomato pasta, but nevermind. We didn’t order dessert as by now we were both sweating due to the heater located above us. We ordered one more drink, I asked for a cosmopolitan and was served a second lychee martini. The cosmopolitan (17 euros) was very good but the lychee martini had been flavourless which is why I didn’t want a second! Overall it was a nice enough experience but very mixed, I wouldn’t return for dinner but may return for a drink as the setting and location was lovely. Ps if you look closely at my pasta you will see the hair! I hadn’t yet noticed it when I took the photo.More

It is a high end bistro so office casual will do, no jeans. A jacket is nice but as long as you don’t look like a bum you should be fine. The place has probably seen better days, but it’s still worth a visit.
