There were some interesting dishes on the menu and the food was excellent. I had a cassoulet maison which was superb. We were rather shocked by the high prices for the wine and some of the dishes were also expensive. But the service was excellent, you could see inside the kitchen and this is obviously a place to come for... More

Best and most exquisite scallops I've ever had, I'll go back just for that dish. We arrived at 8, if you want to feel Parisian better to arrive at 9.

It is a half an hour bus ride from the touristy center of Paris to this unpretentious and excellent bistro. From the "Today's Specials" chalked on a blackboard to the satisfying selection of carafe wines and the old-fashioned dishes like cassoulet , you quickly understand that L' Assiette carries on French country culinary tradition with ease and skill. The chef... More

Very intimate and traditionally decorated bistro. The food was fantastic- we had the house cassoulet which was well worth the excellent write ups, and very filling. The scallops and pate starters were also fantastic and recommended. The manger was very welcoming and explained every dish for us.

Fantastic house cassoulet & vegetable hotpot, wonderful host. Couldn't recommend it highly enough. You'll need to have some basic French skills.

Really disappointed by this "bistro" that serves very traditional; pedestrian bistro fare. It would be bad enough if it was just expensive and boring but it's also really bland. When something as simple as a potato puree gets out of the kitchen tasteless and unseasoned, it's quite simply unforgivable, at this price. There are so many better bistros in Paris... More

L'Assiette serves relatively traditional French cuisine, executed nearly to perfection. A specialty, for example, is Cassoulet. I don't expect ever to have better Cassoulet. Can't be done. The staff is overworked, but friendly in spite.

Cosy small restaurant with very friendly staff. I had their cassoulet, and it was perfect! The panna cotta with salty caramel sauce was amazing!! The atmosphere is perfect for a romantic dinner.

I had the most delicious cassoulet at L'Assiette. It deserves all the hype. The atmosphere at the establishment is perfectly Parisian chic without all the snobbery. The food is on the expensive side but is definitely worth it; although 7 euros for a bottle of Heineken is pretty silly. The lunch seems like a great deal however!

L'Assitte is a very appealing and relaxing experience. From the second you walk in you feel comfortable. The food while classic offers some dishes you don't find in every restaurant. Like Tete du veau. Everything is prepared with care and respect for the product. The wait staff is great and their wine recommendations were great as well. They also had... More

Neighbourhood Profile
The namesake tower of Montparnasse dominates over the landscape but the fun part is the throbbing life that goes on below it. Bright lights, busy cinemas, brasseries and diners encompass hidden museums and parks to entertain the masses. Long avenues lead away from the tower to take you to unsuspecting places and historical monuments and treasures. In between lie adorable ivy-covered houses with beams and small gardens to match. Just a short metro ride away from the centre of Paris this neighbourhood has something for every hour of the day.
