The place did fulfil my expectation. You have the feeling you are eating in Paris in a typical Parisian restaurant when seating there. Ambiance of a café, the place itself, the decoration, the setup and size of the tables - close to other guests - You can engage discussion very easily ... Service was very good on that night. Waiters... More

We weren't sure about going, since it's hyped up on the tourist websites, but there's a reason why. We arrived with no reservation with a very large group, and they were very accommodating for us. The waiters handled our table extremely well, were very cordial, and helped a lot with the menu. The food was also very good, and their... More

We have visited this place for the brunch on the 1st January as it was one of the places near our hotel in Saint Germaine area in Paris. Honestly, after a few places to compare, it's a total disappointment: despite even a queue in front of the entrance, we expected to have a good quality of service and food. We... More

Our wonderful hotel, Hotel Clement, was around the corner from this landmark Parisian cafe. We ate breakfast on both days in Paris and had the same waiter. He remembered us on the second morning and was very kind. What a lovely way to start the day in Paris with fresh croissants, french butter and coffee. My grandson loved the hot... More

I guess I expected the place to be overpriced and poor value, but we went in there for the crack, and it ended up being quite superb! It's the location that counts,a nd the history for the literary buffs in us, but I had a darned good confit de canard for the slgihtly stiff price of 25 Euros, and it... More

Have been to Les Deux Magots 3 times now. The first experience was lovely, the dry martini at 15.00 was stunning and we really enjoyed the old decor and wondering what it was like for the Hemingway's, Picasso's and Joyce's all those years ago. The second time the martini was dreadful and not even served in a martini glass. The... More

Come for the history. Foods not terrible but not good either. Lots of history though. And food came fast.

Nice and buzzy - great place for lunch or a snack. A good variety of food and lovely selection of cakes for dessert. Perfect location for both sightseeing and shopping.

I stayed at Hotel Bel Ami in St. Germain. Les deux Magots was the good choice for breakfast. Although the menu was simple and a little expensive but it was reasonable when considered the location. Hot chocolate with croissant was perfect for cold winter morning.

Been here many times and rarely do I leave happy with the service or the prices. But then again, one does not necessarily go to 2 Magots for the cheap coffee ;-)

Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighbourhood Profile
Saint-Germain-des-Pres
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighbourhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighbourhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
