The cafe we usually go to was closed so on our way to KB for a coffee and a bit we happened on this place. Warm and welcoming, filled with people we decided it was a better option than KBs hard wooden chairs and cramped...quarters inside.
Prices were high, but as I told my Parisienne companion, beggers can’t be choosers. All was fine until our obviously sour waitress treated us with condescension and impatience. The other staff were fine and the cash register hostess was utterly charming.
The food was good, the coffee great!(a pleasant surprise). If I can be guaranteed another waitress I’d go back.More
We visited on a Saturday morning for breakfast/brunch. Originally we had intended to go to KB Cafe which is just up the street but it was queuing out the door. We had passed Marlette on the way which looked really attractive from the outside so...we rolled the dice and gave it a go.
We were greeted by a pleasant young man who invited us to take a seat outside and he promptly brought us some menus. On reflection the prices are quite typical for Paris but initially seemed steep. After a couple of minutes we turned away a waiter as we where not ready to order and asked for a couple more minutes. We did not see anyone for 10 minutes at which point our order was placed.
Unfortunately no drinks or food turned up for another 30 minutes. In that time we watched locals sit down, order, be served their food and drinks all around us. When the food did arrive, the soft boiled eggs were stone cold and had clearly been sitting around and were not edible. This coupled with the extensive wait time was annoying to say the least. This will go down as the first time I have sent food back to the kitchen.
The coffee was delicious and my partner enjoyed her salmon and avocado on toast. The staff were apologetic and were happy to take the cost of the eggs off the bill and gave us the coffee for free. I believe it was just an honest mistake and it was likely our order was misplaced. However, numerous members of staff passed us whilst we were sat there waiting and seemingly didn’t think it curious that no food or drink was in front of us for such a long period.More
I went here due to a friend's recommendation. It's very popular and we were lucky to get a seat. The menu is fairly limited on the weekend however the food is fresh and tasty. The coffee is also nice. The staff were a tad hard...to get ahold of but were friendly. Prices are ok too.More
Go there as early as 0930! Than they open and you will get a set. As they do no reservations you might be unlucky to arrive later. But it is worth it. Nice place, great service and food. A relaxed way to start your sunday!
Don't be too hungry when you arrive. There might be a bit of a wait. This is a very popular breakfast place. But by the time you get seated, you will be ready to savour the delicious breakfast and coffee of Cafe Marlette. Staff was...friendly despite the rush. We even went for a second breakfast!More
We had a good meal and a great bottle of wine in here. The staff were friendly the service was good and we didn't feel rushed even though we got there late(ish) having been down at the place de la Concord watching the arrival of...le tour de France cyclists.
Lovely place next time I'm in Paris I will make a point of coming back here.More
This is not a typical Paris café. It is so veey much more. A charming locale, a eclectic range of food and drink, and a welcoming environment. Staff greet you as soon as you walk in and take time to talk with you about your...needs, and actually clearly care aboit what they serve, and how their customers feel. Do try their madeleines.
The Cafe Marlette made a trip to Paris that much more special.More
