After watching the food culture at Paris, we have decided, its very difficult to get a delicious spicy food. But, its just a wrong assumption. We found the place here where we got the delicious food in Indian style. The interesting thing is, the cook in this restaurant is also from India. Well, being as a indian, we loved the... More

The food here was good. The service was good. No complaints. Too bad other people had such horrible experiences. We didn't expect gourmet. It's just not that kind of place. If you're a tourist and you crave Indian food, go here. To be honest, we didn't think any of the food we ate in France was "heart-stopping", which was a... More

This is a typical France Indian curry house, its something of a mystery that you can't find a really good curry in France. You'd be better of driving to Holland or just cross the channel back to good old blighty. You can get a good idea just from the poppadoms. These were greasy and tasted of oil. The starters were... We ate only vegetarian food here, so can't speak for the meat dishes. The entrees where passable, but the smallest entree serving I've ever received in an Indian restaurant. We shared two mains and they both tasted almost exactly the same with no flavor, no spice and they were extremely mild. It was nothing like authentic Indian food I've had... More

Firstly, they were not busy yet we waited more than 45 minutes for one tiny, overpriced dish that was served cold (was supposed to be hot). Secondly, the food was disgusting and inedible. A tasteless curry sauce full of sugar with almost no morsels of meat or vegetables. Not real Indian food. Just a slop of oil and sugar. I... More

I went to Ambiance before reading the reviews here, based on its appearance and cuisine. It was one of my better meals in Paris in the summer of 2016. The three-course menu of chicken tikka, korma, jasmine rice and a surprise dessert selected for me by the waiter were all delicious. The service is friendly and multilingual. The naan has... More

This restaurant chef needs to go back to his roots and revisit how Indian food is prepared. We love Indian food and have tried it in many countries and this tastes nothing like anything we have ever tasted. I had butter chicken my husband had Rohan josh and all we could taste was salt. Have you heard of Cumin and... More

Despite friendly service and a decent location (just off Rue Mouffetard), this restaurant is let down by the food. Although my mixed-grill starter was actually quite tasty, the rest of the meal was disappointing. The rogan josh was the colour of Heinz tomato soup and tasty like it too, albeit with a non-descript bit of spice added. Onion bajhis were... More

We went with a group, served cold food, worse taste.... When questioned about quality, we were asked to leave and not even allowed to eat or order new food... The owner is extremely arrogant and if u are looking for good indian food, this is definitely not the place to be even if it is the last option on earth....

I went to this restarant on an early Monday evening. It was nearly empty, there were people only on one other table, but they left soon. We were served quickly and politely, everyhting seemed to be ok. The place looked nice and the only waiter was friendly. The meals (l'agneau tikka masala) and chicken curry arrived quickly. They were okay... More

Description
Ambience de l'Inde restaurant in Paris' Left Bank, found at the top of the rue Mouffetard, is a northern Indian restaurant redolent of both the subcontinent and old Paris. There is a pair of colourful, inviting dining rooms with their scarlet napery and Indian artifacts on the ground floor, and another pair in the vaulted 12th-century caves where you are surrounded by atmospheric exposed stone walls. The menu focusses on the specialties of the Punjab, in dishes like tandoori prawns, lamb curry with almonds, and mango or pistachio kulfi. Ambience de l'Inde is open every day and, at weekends, service is non-stop.

Staying in Quartier Latin

Neighbourhood Profile
Quartier Latin
The Latin Quarter bursts with intellectual life, architectural splendour and ongoing merriment. The small streets are filled with classical buildings, student bars and lively eateries while the squares are dominated by historic monuments. The area is defined by the 800-year-old Sorbonne University, where Latin once prevailed, and is famous for the Pantheon which celebrates the great men and women of France. During the day students rush from classes to the library and intellectuals people watch from the terraced cafés. As night time falls the surrounding establishments fill up and the merriment really begins. The liveliest parts are around Rue Mouffetard, lined with crêperies and international street food eateries, and Place de la Contrescarpe characterised by terraced brasseries, this neighbourhood provides real nourishment for the mind, belly, and soul.
