We had lunch there, two adults and a teenager 14. My husband had the steak tare tare which the server made sure he understood was raw meat and he loved it. Said it was delicious. I had the Cafe de la Paix salad which was butter lettuce with shrimp and grapefruit in a luscious dressing and it was different and... More

There is no need to tell about the fame of this restaurant and its interior - it has all been said before me. Went here for dinner with friends, everyone was thrilled. Before the meal we were offered wonderful bread with various fillings, butter and fish paste. Caution! If If you eat it al, you can find lack of space... More

I don't care about the price, all I care about is that it is to my mind THE Cafe in Paris. I've visited here every time I'm in Paris since 1980 and have always loved it. The view, if you are sitting outside, looking towards the glorious Opera House, or inside with the wonderful decor makes it such a terrific... More

If you like quality food and drink in a venue steeped in tradition, Cafe de la Paix is a great choice. Seafood is particularly good. Wine delicious. Service friendly and attentive. The restaurant is part of the Grand Hotel (Intercontinental) so if you are staying there and going to a performance at the Palais Garnier (just across the road) dining... More

Having a dinner or a lunch in Cafe de la Paix it's like to travel in the Past...same costume since 1900 and same parisien's service. It is the perfect place for a romantic dinner especially if you can be nearby the window to overlook on the Paris Opéra. Very easy to get there with the metro or the cab...ask for... More

Good value for money, attentive staff despite the rush...quenelle with foie gras sauce was heavenly, so was the baba au rhum.

Nice traditional cafe very well located.. too bad, service is average, not to say bad ! When you arrive, hostess tells you whatever without clear explanations and concern about the client ! So you can tempt your luck but, do not hold your breath.

Amazing onion soup and beef fillet. The coffee was good too. The service was bad. The waiters clearly pay more attention to some customers rather than others. In any case, the food is worth it.

I have been going to Cafe de la Paix since I was a child, as we always stayed at the InterCon. I visited Cafe de la Paix this February for brunch, and had one of the worst experiences. The waiter was extremely rude (even by Parisian standards) from the beginning. We ordered a cheese platter as an appetizer, two croque... More

Staying in Opera / Bourse

Neighbourhood Profile
Opera / Bourse
The neighbourhood around Opéra and Bourse is a belle époque paradise of grand boulevards, refined arcades, and mass-market art-nouveau entertainment. Here, modern day workers continue to take advantage of the legacy that nobility and finance left in the 19th century. Brightly-lit brasseries, theatres, and cinemas sit side by side with French bistros predominating in one area and Japanese restaurants in another. The area is most famous for the Palais Garnier opera house and glamorous department stores.
