The strange thing about Paris in July 2020 is that lots of excellent restaurants are 1/4 full. So you can just walk in - compared to the usual situation where a reservation must be made days ahead. Brits are advised to get over here asap...and take advantage of this, because we have had several cracking meals on a walk-in basis, and L'Oulette was probably the best, straight off the daily menu: Rillette of salmon - fab Tomato salad - ditto Scallops with mushroom risotto, and Beef Charolais - oh my Chocoate and pear dessert - just so. Entirely delicious!More

We had dinner here on our last night in Paris; and it surpassed our expectations. Thanks to the reception staff at the Hotel Original for recommending it! We three friends enjoyed wine, appetizers, main courses and decadent desserts. Every single dish was delicious, perfect!, and...memorable. My layered veggie appetizer was by far one of the best I've had in my 55 years. Our braised beef ragout simply melted in your mouth and the wine selection was wonderful. We took our time, chatted about our 4 days in Paris; and were so very happy to spend our last night at this charming and exquisite bistro.More

Ate here with my husband and niece for dinner. Small restaurant with attentive and professional staff. Everything we ordered was delicious, from duck salad starter to fish and meat main courses, to delicious desserts. The wines were the best we had during our recent trip...to Paris.More

Whenever we are in Paris (this week my 38th visit!), we have dinner here at least once. Emanuele and his crew are the best. Dishes are delightful and the wine is excellent. Highly recommended!

Having dinner with a vegetarian adult daughter in Paris on Christmas Day was no easy feat - Bistrot de l'Oulette was one of the very few of hundreds of restaurants I checked online that had a vegetarian main course ('plat'). Most restaurants offer something veggie...as a starter, and that's it. The 'social movement' pension protests and transport strikes were in full swing at this time, but luckily we were able to get to Bastille metro station and walk from there (the closest metro is Bréguet-Sabin normally). It's a small and cosy place, and they have no problem conversing in English, which was just as well, as I was the only one who had some (bad) French. There was in fact a special Christmas menu, which didn't have a veggie option for mains - but upon asking, they had no problem cooking up a tasty veggie plate for our daughter. I completely forgot to take a photo of the Xmas menu, so I can't remember what we all ate. However, I do recall duck as my main, which was outstanding. We also managed to squeeze in some delicious desserts; I was unable to resist the crème brulée, which was huge, much larger than the tiny pots one usually gets. Service was brisk, efficient and friendly. As other TA reviews say, it's a terrific little place in the Marais, and very affordable. Worth a visit any time, and it was perfect for us at Christmas.More

Charming little Bistro, hiding in the back streets, packed with the locals! Pre-Booking is a must, as small and very busy. Everything is in French, best to translate before you arrive, however staff very helpful to translate where possible. Friendly staff, great service, bistro food...at it's best! Fresh bread and a little pre-taster, amuse-bouche was well received. We had the Duck liver pate and the Mille-feuille with tomato, aubergines and courgettes to start, which were both delicious. Then roasted duck with Porto sauce and fillet of sea bream for main. Fantastic traditional French cuisine at it's best! Very good value, meal for two with wine - 90 EurosMore

Based on the reviews we read here we honestly were expecting a little bit more...of almost everything. 3 of us came by for dinner. The service seemed a bit spotty. It was a looooong time before we even got menus or asked if we would...like a drink or something to start. Then it was a loooooooong(er) time before our appetizers came out. We felt like being English speaking might have been setting us back here as the native speakers seemed to be getting more attention. Nonetheless, the food was good but nothing special. 2 of us had duck which was a bit on the dry side, the 3rd had steak which was good. We had a couple appetizers which were good, but again nothing super notable. None of it was bad, it just wasn't anything we'd be compelled to go back for.More

I cannot recommend highly enough this lovely little bistrot. It is in the Marais district of Paris, very close to the Place des Vosges and a short walk from Bastille metro station. The food and service are always excellent. As I stay outside Paris I...have only ever eaten lunch here but they also serve dinner in the evening from an a la carte menu which I am sure will be equally excellent. At lunchtime for 17 euros they offer the Bistrot Express - a delicious, beautifully-presented 2-course lunch with coffee. This lunchtime menu has limited choices which is a good thing as it means that the food is cooked on the spot to order. This also means that the chef can make minor adjustments, if necessary, to suit the customer's needs/taste. This particular menu offers a choice of 1 starter, 2 main courses - one meat and one fish - and 1 dessert. It's always hard to decide what to choose as all the dishes are so tempting! We were last there on the 10th December 2019 during the strike over pension reforms which is having a huge impact on public transport. As a result the Bistrot was quieter than usual which is a shame because, given the quality of the food and the excellent service, this restaurant deserves to be full of customers. The Manager is very friendly, very helpful and speaks good English - useful if your culinary French is not up to translating the menu. He will explain it to you in detail. He is very knowledgeable about wine so can advise what would be a good wine choice to accompany your food. He also has a great sense of humour! So forget those touristy lunch menus and instead visit Le Bistrot De L'Oulette - except Wednesdays as they are closed - but check this out. If you want to eat really good French cooking then seek out this Bistrot - you will not be disappointed!More

Dress code was not evident. I went to dinner and wore long black, jean style pants. No problems.
