Celebrating 18 year old's birthday as family. They did not forget - his dessert had the lit candle! Since the main course was partridge, asked for a cassoulet to be added to the set menu for the 2 boys (18 and 16). They pondered the complexity and quickly accomodated us. Pointed to a price on the winelist and asked them... More

Made reservations for the seven course "Discovery Menu", and asked for wine suggestions. Food was outstanding, as was wine recommendations. Service flawless! Highly recommended!

Long after my only visit to Carré des Feuillants I discovered Au Trou Gascon for a family dinner. Alain Dutournier started his career in the 70s in this restaurant near Daumesnil (Paris XIIe) before moving to Carré. Behind a discrete provincial facade the restaurant room has a simple private decor. The masterpiece lies in the plates. Alain Dutournier inspires a... More

Another old Parisian establishment, this is worth getting out of the tourist belt for. The food is beautifully prepared and traditional. Flavors were just right and each dish beautifully presented. One of the best cassoulet I have tried. If you are looking for a traditional French meal, this is it without breaking the budget.

I went to Au Trou Gascon with the French Family I was staying with back in June of 1987. It was one of the very first times I had ever had Sauteed Foie Gras with White Asparagus tips..it was heaven on a plate. The restaurant was elegant and old French. The service was very good, and the food exquisite! 29... More

I have been going to this restaurant for decades. It has always been one of my favorite in Paris. It has a reputation for delivering a high level of quality in both food and service while giving Parisians a source for the traditional cooking from the southwest of France. Over the years I have sampled fabulous examples of duck confit,... More

I came here based on a review by Patricia Wells. This is a restaurant with 12 tables of varying sizes. Tonight, 4 were solo diners and many diners were French. The individual courses I had were well prepared and delicious. A few things I found odd - green olives served with the aperitif, the staff did not know where the... More

Typical ambience of a fancy French Michelin star place, but it’s quite small by the way. We went there for a Christmas dinner. It was a ready menu set. So we could choose only our wine and drinks to accompany the food, everything else was previously decided by the Chef. Dinner started with a small amuse bouche. Then came out... More

Au Trou Gascon has been one of my favorite restaurants in the world for many years. My wife and I hosted a dinner there earlier this month that, unfortunately, has caused me to change my opinion. Both the food and service were not close to what we had experienced during many earlier visits. The servers seemed overwhelmed by a full... More

This is a restaurant like they were in the past. - no fancy trendy design, but a simple and classical layout. - the food is sophisticated and traditional, with a large choice - the service is excellent and not intrusive. This is a restaurant where food, and not design, in the focus. It is a good opportunity to taste delicious... More
