I come to L'Ami Georges every time I am in Paris. It's a great neighborhood spot and they are very helpful with suggestions and tips for foreign visitors — especially nice for those who don't speak French. Definitely go!

Stopped in for a late lunch after arriving in Paris from Frankfurt. Enjoyed the soup and escargot. Warm feeling and felt very welcoming.

Stopped here for lunch with a coworker. It was early and the café was rather empty but they still sat us at awkward table by the door. I had the quiche and salad. It was a tremendous cheesy piece with tomatoes and thin slices of ham. Very gooey, perhaps a little too much. My friend had the salad with poached... More

A great restaurant, Bistro & Bar that doesn't try to be something it isn't. The service is good, the owner is welcoming and speaks English, and provides a good range of drinks at reasonable prices. We went there a few times for drinks in the afternoon, and once for a meal. Food was fine, and represented value for money. Just... More

Walking back toward Marais from the Opera we stopped here because it was quiet, served Leffe, my favorite, awesome Belgian beer and we were hungry. The waiter was the owner who spoke fluent English and could not have been nicer. I had a Salade Nicoise and my wife had a Croque Monsieur which is an open face ham and cheese... More

Having just arrived in Paris, we wanted to try something local. After walking around we decide upon L'Ami Georges. Our waiter spoke great English. The steak and frites was just what we wanted. The beef carpaccio was generous and tasty and the seabream cooked well. It was not too busy on the night we visited and our food came quickly.... More

Food was BAD. At 16 euros you get a poor quality and chewy steak, as well as microwaved potato. I would not even recommend this to my enemy. The drinks had way too much alcohol, and the beer was also stale.

Great food, good service. They know exactly where all their produce comes from. Highly recommended. Particularly enjoyed the os à moelle.

Staying in Opera / Bourse

Neighbourhood Profile
Opera / Bourse
The neighbourhood around Opéra and Bourse is a belle époque paradise of grand boulevards, refined arcades, and mass-market art-nouveau entertainment. Here, modern day workers continue to take advantage of the legacy that nobility and finance left in the 19th century. Brightly-lit brasseries, theatres, and cinemas sit side by side with French bistros predominating in one area and Japanese restaurants in another. The area is most famous for the Palais Garnier opera house and glamorous department stores.
