The waiter/owner is a very affable fellow, proud of his food quality, which is very nice. Don't fret if it takes a while for your order to be taken - it arrives in a flash! He fretted that I did not finish my pasta - I assured him it was only because I wasn't hungry enough, because it really was... More

Enjoyable small homely restaurant. Good selection of home seasonal cooking. The foie gras and oysters were excellent as was the fish. Nice selection of wine and reasonably priced. Excellent friendly service.

We selected this restaurant based on the blackboard menu in the window. It was a good choice with good French food, friendly service and a wide range of choices.

We first went there for dinner and were not disappointed both with the food or the friendly staff mainly Josef the owner. The food was excellent and the service was very good . There was a good choice of food and we were given great advice as to what to eat from Josef. There was a good variety of wine... More

Me and my boyfriend have stayed in Paris for one week and this was by far the friendliest service we had! It totally made us restore our faith in Parisienne hospitality! The Lentil soup was a delicious warm and spiced flavored starter for a cold night. We had the Egyptian fish with rice, and the duck with honey sauce and... More

The place feels like a small restaurant with no pretensions for regulars. Since the moment I got in I felt welcomed. The atmosphere was very nice. The food was fairly simple, specially for Paris, but very good quality and absolutely delicious! Probably a bit more expensive than other options in the area, but absolutely worth the extra.

Our experience at La Petite Casserole was perfect. Not only the food, but the whole atmosphere which translates what Paris is - simply wonderful. And a plus: Joseph, the owner and the host, was kind and generous. He made us feel very special, unique and made our last night in Paris become even more unforgettable.

Description
La Petite Casserole restaurant in Paris' 13th arrondissement near the Francois Mitterand Library is exactly the sort of restaurant you feared had vanished from the Parisien streets: a comfortable, welcoming, inexpensive restaurant serving typical French cuisine with pride and skill. In this age of irony and self-consicousness, La Petite Casserole is the real deal. The red awning and light canteloupe interior is decorated with a variety of original art, especially by artists still in primary school, and kitted out with red table linens and comfortable wooden seating. A bar divides the front dining room from the back, both of which are filled with savvy diners of the neighbourhood who enjoy the meat, duck, fish, and pasta dishes, and the French wines. Joseph is your host and he seems to be everywhere at once, serving, advising, greeting, tweaking. The ingredients are top drawer and the dishes excellent.
