Whatever you do, don't try to be friendly with the proprietor. Place is clean and fantastic location below Sacre Coeur hill. Seriously, don't cut the bread by the door - and don't ask me why it's there! Unfortunate cliche of '80s French narrow mindedness. It's one world after all.

We were staying just up the hill from the trio of restaurants including this one, and first came across it when looking for a drink. We decided to go back the next evening for food. Typical French cuisine, although their special starter of Boite de Sardines deserves a mention, as you get to choose your own sardine tin! They have... More

Researching the area for a great friendly cafe for lunch near the Basilique Sacre Coer. Botak was my choice. I loved the quaint old world charm of the area. We were seated outdoors facing a charming street. We specifically went for the frites but also enjoyed glasses of champagne. Our server was not the friendliest at first until he heard... More

Here for the euros and staying in a hotel close by and this place was friendly and good. Wine by the glass and 1/4 litre and several beers and tapas and great food. But the people were real and personable and not always what you find in paris. Will say. Great great Frites.

I went with my family and we enjoy a lot the french food that we have there. It was my first time that I tried Tartare bouef and it was amazing. Also we had the meal wit a beautiful wine from Bordeaux. Great view and the price is ok.

Our last restaurant in Paris and no regrets - it was fantastic! Very good food, wine and family-friendly service. Our kids had the chicken, chips and ice cream fixed price menu... I had the beef tartare and my wife had lamb served with rice, veg and an excellent sauce. Highly recommended.

The Botak Cafe is lovely cafe/bar which serves food - the athmosphere was great and the host and service excellent as well as very friendly locals at the bar. The food was good with a wide selection - and a good selection of wines. I had beef for main course and the flavour was very good but it was a... More

This is a quirky place that we come upon as we were climbing stairs to see the Basilica. The food was excellent! I didn't expect such great dining at a place that looked quiet ordinary in appearance. Great portions, I had a vegetable quiche that was yummy! Definitely worth a visit!

Staying in Montmartre

Neighbourhood Profile
Montmartre is a bustling mix of cultures, colours, and styles which changes from one street to another. Ride the funicular (or, for a real workout, climb the steps) to the sublime Sacré-Coeur (Basilica of the Sacred Heart) with its inspiring view of the city. The church is surrounded by provincial streets and piano bars where tourists, artists, and street entertainers thrive. At the foot of the hill, Boulevard de Clichy features shops not intended for young audiences, while residences are scattered to the north and east. The diverse population includes a large part from the Arab-speaking world, Africa, and Turkey. It’s a corner of Paris full of life and dynamism with charms that can’t be found anywhere else.
