Fantastic food and great wine selected by the host. Huge platter of meat and cheese to start and then great mains from the daily specials. Lots of food. Very friendly service. Quiet but lovely area. Highly recommended and they have English menus if your French is as hopeless as mine.

Loved the location. Will return as I am blessed with being in the neighborhood for a few days. Was very happy to learn of the cultural history of this spot!

Had a late afternoon lunch here, as they serve all day which is convenient. Typical French bistro fare, prepared well with efficient and friendly service.

This authentic Parisien restaurant was just around the corner from our hotel. We eat here on a couple of nights and found the food and atmosphere very good. Being close to the Senate, I suspect it attracts a number of the political classes.

This is a very nice authentic Parisian brasserie. The food is good and the staff is very friendly. I say 'authentic' as this area of Paris is very touristy so many restaurants don't even bother about serving nice dishes as they know that they will get customers anyway. This place is different and is more frequented by 'locals' of this... More

Our flight from Manchester brought us to Paris too early to check into our hotel room and so after depositing our bags we went for a wander and eventually came across this little place. We just ordered a plate of meats and cheeses and some wine; it was all really good quality, especially the bread. The menu looked really interesting,... More

Food was great and very obviously prepared in-house. They had run out of one or two things on the menu, but there was plenty of choice. The prices were fair, and being close to the Jardin de Luxembourg, it is more relaxing than some of the more touristy locations. In fact it was a local who first recommended it to... More

The sole purpose of me trying Cafe Tournon was to sit in a place frequented by Duke Ellington, James Baldwin, Chester Hines, Beauford Delaney, William Gardner Smith et al. I can't deny that the service was first class. I stopped off for a glass of champagne which was served in a wine glass as opposed to a champagne flute. I'm... More

Stopped here for a wine while walking through Montparnasse and the Luxembourg Gardens back to Rue Saint Germaine It was a very pleasant little break at an outside table looking down Rue Tournon. And delighted to realise we had accidentally stumbled upon the haunt of Satre and DeBeauvoir. Wine .... good, service .... good, outlook .... good.

Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighbourhood Profile
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighbourhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighbourhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
