Had a fixed priced meal here. Just at the bottom of stairs from Place du Tetre but not the same prices. Onion soup with french bread and cheese on top. Boeuf bourguignon and tart and chocolate fondant with creme anglais. Seating is very cosy and mainly tourists however there was a small local family that eat there once a week.50cl... More

Four of us washed up here after a busy day doing Paris, and it was absolutely great, we all had different main courses and no-one had any issues about anything, apart from me ordering a second carafe of house red as it was so nice. Not Michelin starred, tasting menu food, but just good solid french fare.

This was such a cute French bistro. Food was great & then it's not even a 5 minute walk up to sacré cœur basilica

We had a excellent fixed price dinner Nice ambiance and atmosphere with traditional French food and plenty of it. 20.50 for 3 courses and a free appetif drink. Well worth a visit for traditional French food in a traditional French bistro

In Paris over Christmas we owed Chez Marie another chance after my negative 2015 review. The welcome was warm, once again. The prices unbelievable for Paris. Last time I ordered a faux-filet, bleu. My mistake on both counts. Every other item on the menu - we went three times - was superb and the portions generous. As ever, the clientelle... More

I've been to Chez Marie many times over the years and never been disappointed. It's a great basic restaurant for French food. No frills, good atmosphere and reasonably priced. In 2011 I descended upon Chez Marie with 18 fellow cyclists after a London to Paris cycling event. We were very well fed and looked for a very reasonable price. The... More

We had a wonderful lunch at the foot of the steps on a beautiful sunny afternoon. It was capped off with someone playing la vie en rose by the steps. 😀

After hitting a lot of tourist restaurants and cafes, we found, just below Sacre Coeur in Montemarte, Paris, a lovely little restaurant that was homey, pleasant and not a rip off. The meal was excellent and the service was with a smile and a friendly chat. Paintings of cats and scenes on the wall. Looked old world but not in... More

Staying in Montmartre

Neighbourhood Profile
Montmartre is a bustling mix of cultures, colours, and styles which changes from one street to another. Ride the funicular (or, for a real workout, climb the steps) to the sublime Sacré-Coeur (Basilica of the Sacred Heart) with its inspiring view of the city. The church is surrounded by provincial streets and piano bars where tourists, artists, and street entertainers thrive. At the foot of the hill, Boulevard de Clichy features shops not intended for young audiences, while residences are scattered to the north and east. The diverse population includes a large part from the Arab-speaking world, Africa, and Turkey. It’s a corner of Paris full of life and dynamism with charms that can’t be found anywhere else.
