Menu gourmet, excellent service, kind and empathic, great sommelier with great suggestions with the presented courses. The Cook/owner came several times was interested and presented my son (visually impaired) with an extra course (escargot specialties of the house) which he liked very much.
Great evening perfect ending of my 60th birthday (present of my wife).
Sure to go there another time.

A year after our first visit, we returned for lunch here, this time in the shaded outside garden terrace. Our visit was just as perfect as the first one! Chef Christophe Bernard provided a warm welcome, visited us twice at our table, and even poured a second glass of the excellent house champagne at the perfect temperature. The cuisine is wonderful, as is the decor and the service.
We had escargots and gougeonette of daurade to start, and then rognons and magret de canard. Perfection! So were the chaud-froid chocolate and the strawberry Melba with clouds of light chantilly whipped cream. We will return!

Came across this restaurant when searching for a quick lunch in town before visiting Moët ad Chandon. What a mistake! - Mistake being not having enough time for this excellent restaurant.
Their lunch menu was well designed. We tried both the lunch menu set at different prices. Both were worth their price tags. The fish was fresh and well cooked. Service was decent. Best of all, you’d get to pick your own dessert from the long listed dessert menu!
I can only say that we HAVE TO come back and have a proper meal in this restaurant, when we do go for another champagne tour.

I asked the waiter for advice as I eat fish but not meat. The waiter recommended a dish that was wonderful until I finished the fish and started to eat the rice underneath to find it had bacon chopped up in it. I told the waiter who took it away without an apology and brought a jacket potato instead which was fine but I was horrified to have eaten bacon having not eaten an animal for over 30 years. I praised my concern with the chef as we were paying the bill and he shrugged and said “so what?!”. I’m sure many others won’t have an issue with this but the attitude we experienced was awful. It completely ruined the evening for myself and the others I was with. We ended up leaving in utter disgust and would not recommend this restaurant to anyone else. If you have a good meal there, great. But if you have any issues with your meal, do not expect them to listen!

Our experience is similar to the other enthusiastic reviews; quintessential family run place serving top-drawer traditional dishes, with precision and style. Focus is on meaty items grilled on the open wood grate in the dining room, as well as a lovely fixation on fois gras.
We had a starter of impeccable sardine coated in sesame seeds with concentrated tomato water (a gesture to modernity) as well as a perfect slice of terrain de fois gras (the extremely professional waitstaff on their own initiative split each into two portions and served them sequentially for us) We both had the half rack of lamb with a baked potato as the main dish, which seems prosaic but was flawless. We both had the rococo tangerine baba for desert, a deft twist on a classic.
There were many other attractive items on offer; classic escargot, pigeon en croute stuffed with (surprise) fois gras, T-bones for two or three, even some fish.
Dining room is cheerful and cozy but not cramped. Service and pacing were spot-on. Wine list is extensive and fairly priced. Two starters, two mains, two desserts, two glasses of champagne and a bottle of good Aloxe Corton OLIVER 2017 (€79) was €211 and we were very satisfied. Will definitely return.

It's always good when you re-visit a restaurant and the standards of food and service have retained the previously high standards.
This was the case last night as we re-visited La Grillade Gourmande on our return to Epernay after 3 years away.
The food and service were excellent, the theatre of the steaks being cooked in view of the diners is great.
The wine list is extensive and covers all tastes with guidance available to assist with your selection.
Whenever we are in Epernay it's the first place we book.

I was recommended this restaurant by our hotel, booked it well in advance and it needed to be every table was full, mainly French people (always a good sign) main local. Chef comes out to speak to everyone. Food is ran like clockwork, organisation is key.
So to the food, simply delicious, perfectly cooked, presentation is “mom & pop” which suits it to the ground. We didn’t have cheese but their cheeseboard looked awesome.
The courtyard was lovely & felt like you were at someone’s house party being taken care of with great food and “Bon Ami”
Waiters were all caring and seemed to love their jobs… we had such a great time, with great food it was a winning combination
In comparison we at at Le Bellevue” the evening after, their food was 3 x the price, mediocre and unimaginative, do yourself a favour and book La Grillade Gourmande or you’ll miss out on a great experience

We had a lovely dinner in this restaurant. The food was well-prepared. The fish was soft with crispy skin and the sauce was excellent. The very friendly and hospitable cook came checking upon us a few times, which was very nice. Unfortunately the wine list was non-readable with pictures of labels only and the serving staff barely spoke and did not give a very welcome feeling.

Wow! We visited the Grillade last night and we loved it! We were served olives and nuts and even an amuse buche of a lovely pumpkin soup!
I had the snails and oysters to start (both fab) and my husband had the fois gras and lobster dish, which was fabulous! We then shared the t-bone which was perfectly cooked and very tender.
The chef even serves you which is such a lovely idea. He was a very lovely friendly man and made our evening even better!
The other waiters and waitresses were all excellent, helpful and friendly too.
We cannot recommend this restaurant enough- in fact we enjoyed it so much, we have booked again for Saturday!
Definitely visit this restaurant whilst you are in Epernay! You will not be disappointed! Superb!

A fantastic meal and experience, with excellent service. We were greeted by the chef at the start of the evening and we chose from the set menu which gave us plenty of options. A lovely meal and I really recommend this restaurant.

This was our 2nd visit to this delightful family-run restaurant. All aspects of our dining experience were exceptional. The Front of House team do a great job of looking after customers with great efficiency. The Chef Patron frequently walks around the tables to greet customers. The food is wonderful, as is the wine offering. A second visit can sometimes not live up to expectations but this is not the case with La Grillade Gourmande, and we would not hesitate to book again when in the Epernay area.

Excellent food and service. The Chef even met with our table to make sure all was well. You must make a reservation in advance or you will be turned away. The four of us (adults) enjoyed the escargot, salade ardennaise for first plates; then main plates of grilled fish, lamb chops and beef filet; and for dessert the pineapple gratin, creme brulee and poire au vin. All were excellent! The wine is wonderful and reasonable priced. Dinner was served leisurely and most enjoyable! Definitely recommend this restaurant, but again, make sure you reserve a table.
Anyone who shows up to this Michelin recognized restaurant without a reservation is just being a silly tourist!

This is one of those restaurants that when you walk in you can tell that you are going to have a great experience AND it really was! How lucky we booked in advance as it soon filled after our 7.30 arrival
The ambience was one of simplicity yet efficient and warmth. The open cooking fire made sure of that. The menu contained dishes that were creative and very interesting without the ‘froth and foam’ and with a variety that was more than sufficient yet small enough to realise that the contents would be fresh.
There was both a la carte and two ‘menu du jour’.
The food was beautifully served and so tasty We were recommended a Red Rhine which was inexpensive yet delicious
The staff were helpful, friendly and very professional
Thank you for a superb and memorable evening. Congratulations on such a fine restaurant

Stopped here for lunch, driving from Calais to Beaune, after reading the reviews.
Lovely restaurant with excellent food. I had the grilled Sea Bream fillet with olive oil and basil. It was cooked beautifully, very simple and tasted so good.
Hoping to return another day and would highly recommend a visit.

Amazing restaurant with lovely outside space for dining. Warm welcome and waiters super attentive particularly when the rain came they rushed to put up awning and parasols to keep us dry. Best cote de boeuf I have ever eaten, cooked to perfection on open wood fire. Wine list or wine book was extensive. Would not hesitate to recommend lovely restaurant
