We went there for lunch. There are hundreds of restaurants within the Cite du Saint Malo. I might not have gone in if we had not been recommended to it by friends in Brittany. Glad we did. Very good restaurant, great food and great ambience.

Went for my partner's 40th birthday dinner. Very well presented food and all tasted good. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Bit pricy for me but was worth it. Highly recommended.

Recommended by our hotel receptionist. Make a reservation - we were very lucky to get a table at the end of the evening. Excellent 3 course menu at 29 euros with glass of wine selected for each course for a further 17 euros. I had smoked salmon starter followed by hake: delicious flavours. Not usually keen on dessert, but the... More

Dinner was well above expectations despite the ratings !! The quality, care, taste, presentation were incredible. Waitress was so knowledgeable not only about the wines but also about the how's, whys & when of the food . The surroundings looked a bit dated/old fashioned but tht would be the only critic of this place . Great dinner, food was prepared/served... More

Cozy downstairs dining area with daylight windows. Open for dinner at 7 pm. One of the few on Sunday. In addition to ala carte they have a prix fixe menu with and without wine parings. Because the wine types and brands are so different from American options it was nice to have them choose. They did well. Everything was presented... More

Because this was a special Birthday we elected to eat the Tasting Menu and drink the proposed accompanying wines. The restaurant has a very pleasant ambiance and the serving staff give an excellent service. The six course menu was overall of a high standard with one exception and the accompanying wines matched the dishes well. An exception was the cider... More

Beautiful place, very nice service. We sat in the lower dining room. It wasn't very crowded so it was very peaceful and romantic. We ordered off the menu du midi which was on a chalk board. The food was beautiful but I'm not exactly sure what I had as each dish was so 'artsy' (a small amount of lots of... More

Found l'Absinthe when our planned venue was closed. Rather reluctantly we entered , directed to a table in the lower dining room. The staff were very helpful given our rather schoolday French but the food turned out to be a great surprise , well presented, tasty & reasonably priced, my was delicious bisque, strong flavours offset with a healthy dollop... Dined here on Christmas Eve and had the Pre-fixed traditional Dinner with wine pairings. Each table was individually decorated, which added to the atmosphere. Great service and food, plus the wine pairings were spot on. We were sent the menu in advance, which we translated into English, so we knew what we were eating. Althoug, when we were there we... We identified L'Absinthe as a place we wanted to try before arriving in St. Malo, and discovered it was just around the corner from our apartment. Expectations fulfilled! The restaurant is beautifully decorated (and comfortable). The food was superb, a little on the 'exquisite' side but satisfying (not just a dot of emulsion and a tiny stack, as in some... More
