Slightly hard to find, tucked away in a hidden valley in the middle of Pau, with a few other restaurants and bars. We enjoyed a good authentic meal here. Friendly, efficient service, good ambience with French families tucking in. Plus a very good bottle of Graves.

I ate here with a large group of business colleagues. The food was excellent, and the service friendly.

The Food was good with a nice formule of 2 or 3 dishes. I took the entrecôte and it was perfectly cooked with nice fries as side. The dessert was a bit too sweet (panacota) but the service made a difference.

This is the unconventional type of place where I would feel comfortable wearing a suit and tie, or jeans a hoodie and sneakers! The menu is not exactly a standard bistro menu. For me it is impossible to conclude wether this is classic or contemporary cuisine. The menu and the presentation of the food covers both aspects. The menu isn't... More

This was my 5th visit to Pau, but the first this year and I was looking for somewhere new to eat. After walking a lap around the town I settled on Chez Canaille. The place wasn't full but there was a good atmosphere inside non the less. The menu was ok and there were a few dishes I had not... More

I should clarify this review by explaining that I ended up eating at Chez Canaille because the restaurant I was planning to eat at, Le Lavoir, which is next door, was closed. Chez Canaille was my backup plan. And things went downhill from there. The general look & feel of Chez Canaille is quite pleasant and first impressions are good.... More

We were recommended this place by our hotelier, and it was a good choice. It's very close to the castle walls, and is quite 'funky' as French bistros go. It had paintings on the wall of petanque players, very appropriate. We sat inside, it was quite chilly and rainy when we were in Pau, but we still enjoyed the atmosphere.... More

Restaurant located in he old Pau on a quiet square, eating outside is very pleasant, the inside has no character. The food is good, very typical from the region, potions are reasonable. Good fast and friendly service, with good recommendations on the food and wine. We may go back. prices were very reasonable for the quality.
