My husband and I enjoyed this wonderful last meal in Bordeaux!! We were welcomed by the huge fireplace/grill, a beautiful clock and huge pieces of meat! We were shown to our table and enjoyed the seasonal vegetables, foie gras and rustic bread as we perused the extensive menu. We had cassoulet, rib eye steak, their yummy French fries and Bordeaux... We visited Bordeaux in May and booked dinner here having seen it featured on Rick Steins programme. It did not disappoint!! The food was so good and the atmosphere was just perfect. In fact we so enjoyed it we booked a return visit when we passed back again through Bordeaux as a treat to end to great holiday and it... More

Having seen La Tupina on a travel show, my wife & I were determined to go here on our holiday from Australia. We were not disappointed. The food, the wine, the service, the whole experience was absolutely fantastic. A true culinary delight. Highly recommended.

This proved to be a delightful dining destination and one we would visit again. The restaurant is old fashioned and dark. The service was excellent and the food if you like meat was superb and the wine list to match. We stayed in their rooms across the road from the restaurant. Quirky and individual they were furnished to a very... More

Step back in time when you walk in. We had a great experience, good service, even with a bit of humour! Comfortable and cosy. We only ate main course since we were on a gourmet break and couldn't manage 3 courses at lunch and dinner! Came for lunch, I had a delicious chicken & fries (these were a bit soggy),... More

I last wrote and raved about this Gascon restaurant 15 years ago when I was editor of France magazine, and I have been eating here since before some of the current staff were born! I returned this week to see if it had changed much in recent years. La Tupiña is quite some distance from downtown Bordeaux and parking is... More

We booked this restaurant as a birthday treat as we had seen it on a Rick Stein program. When we arrived it was almost empty and the roaring fireplace was not working. The service was friendly but the food was unacceptable - reheated roast chicken, two of our party that shared a rib of beef was ill through the night.... More

We visited la Tupina, following recommendations in the media and in the press. Very good atmosphere, excellent grill, but the price was too high for the overall experience. 70 euros per person without dessert (we had to leave early for family reasons) but with a bottle of wine, was too much. The experience is nice the service attentive. In the... More

In a local area, this is an old Bordeaux establishment. The vibe is great and well visited with both locals and tourists. What stands out is the meat. Clearly one of the best steaks we have had in France. Skip any desert with the classic canele as the coffee comes with it. Great find and certainly one of our best... More
