The candles aren’t the only highlight of the evening. With the menu for 2 we were able to set our own pace, “faites sign” when you are ready for the first course. Diners are thoughtfully placed into the tables so as not to be intrusive...to each other, steak knives never were offered with so much flair! Portions on the large side so we compensated by eating slowly, no problem there. Glitter in the Bathroom. Exit stage: curtains dramatically drawn back for our grand Finale.More

I had such a great time in this restaurant. Everything was perfect: the owner is a very lovely person and he made us feel so much comfortable. He explained everything and he never let us alone. Food and wine were excellent. We chose the 120€...menu and we were so happy! I extremely recommend this place, and I will come back in my next trip, no doubts!More

Can't speak more highly of this gem of a restaurant. Friends took us there. Everything perfect & our host outstanding in the perfectly attuned attention he gave to us and other patrons.

Absolutely superb From the déco,ambiance, value for money. Honestly the best meal I've had in a long time. The menu for 120€ for a coupke. The attention to detail even in the toilet 100%. Arnaud our server was brilliant. Kind, informative. He made the evening even...more special. Would definitely go again. Can't recommend it highly enough.More

It was 39 degrees C on the night of our visit. There was no air conditioning but there were candles on the table! There were fans on the floor but the waiter did not like it when I switched the unused one at the empty...table next to us on. The restaurant was nearly empty when all around they were very busy. The waiter then lectured me for taking up too much room with my chair- very rude. The menu was not great and very expensive, €49 fixed price each. Gazpacho was offered but made with water melon, for €10, not the tomato we expected with this name. This was very disappointing. We decided to leave and politely said it’s not for us. A few minutes later we received an abusive text from the waiter which was upsetting and uncalled for. We had a fabulous meal around the corner at Edouard where the food was great and the service outstanding.More

An eating/greeting experience not to be missed. Our last night in Bordeaux could not have been better - champagne cocktails, fantastic food, superb wine and the effervescent, attentive hospitality of the patron. A true delight and all for 49 euros per head!

Based on recommendations on Trip Advisor we booked dinner for our last night in Bordeaux. This small restaurant has a fixed price menu that includes three courses, an aperitif, a bottle of wine and coffee. The meal was delicious and the service was both prompt...and friendly. The restaurant has a flamboyant air to it which adds to the experience.More

We would thoroughly recommend this restaurant. It is small and cosy, each table lit by a candle therefore lots of atmosphere. The waiter was very attentive and knew exactly what each table needed. The food was excellent. We had the set price menu which included...a cocktail, 3 courses of our choice , a bottle of wine and coffee (€49!) fantastic value. My husband had the duck as his main and says it was the best duck he has ever eaten.More

When you enter the heavy drawn curtains and enter into the most romantic candle lit intimate restaurant you sense that the evening is going to be something special! We were not disappointed. We were welcomed by the owner and the menu was explained. We opted...for the set menu and my goodness it was incredible! Confit of beef and baked Camembert to start, followed by us both opting for the duck, simply the best duck either of us has ever eaten. We were given time between courses and not rushed at all for dessert. It was late by the time we left but we were made to feel very welcome and time was of no issue. There are so many superb restaurants in Bordeaux but this place is something very special. You won’t be disappointed! If you are lucky enough to find a table, don’t hesitate! One final point, the owner is absolutely fabulous and someone you’d love to call your friend!More

A truly romantic experience. Dark and mysterious, candles everywhere. Perfect music. Like eating in a scene from a gothic movie. The owner/manager greeted us from the moment we stepped in and treated us like regulars. How he managed to handle every table on his own...and make it all look effortless was amazing! The food was delicious and elegantly presented (we both loved the duck). The value was also incredible. Highly recommend doing the set menu for €99 with wine and a lovely champagne apéritif!More

I can totally understand why couples find this restaurant romantic. Slightly off the main thoroughfares of Bordeaux in the midst of where the younger population like to gather. Subdued lighting. Background music. Attentive service by staff keen to offer advice. BUT one candle per table...for those of more mature years can be just a little too dim and the music just a little too intrusive. It is now 4 weeks since our visit. I remember a very very rich gaspacho, which I found most pleasant. The mashed potato detailed as a speciality of the restaurant was certainly living up to its reputation served with the duck, and apparently most mains.More

Magnifique! We managed to get a cancellation on the night; locals at the next table told us it is often booked weeks ahead so plan early! We had the tasting menu which was the best of all worlds, all á la carte dishes available for...the tasting, plus an aperitif and a bottle of excellent wine. € 99 for 2, servis compris. How do they manage it? The food was extremely tasty, adult size portions and a lot of information from the small host team if you want to ask anything. Finally my wife had pink duck perfectly cooked; the brown UK version has meant I’ve avoided it for years. A veal stew was so soft to eat but so many different tastes within it. A warm ambience and very attentive staff. If I am ever near Bordeaux again, I will look this restaurant out. Please try it.More

Tante Charlotte was an amazing experience from the time we walked up to the door. We had no reservation, and there were 6 empty tables for 2 (it was pretty much exclusively couples). The discussion between the two very congenial ‘front’ people was almost like...a piece of theatre as they discussed whether they could seat us. They decided yes…and we’re so glad they did (though I’m still not sure there was really an issue). We chose the menu, which includes a champagne cocktail, an appetizer, a main and dessert—and a bottle of wine for 2. Romantic setting, incredibly personable—and personal—service, and delicious food. Fir all that you get, it’s a true bargain, to be honest. I could share what we ate, but I’m sure it changes. Highlights across our two sets of selections were gazpacho, duck and creme brûlée. The real highlight, though, was the experience, starting from that greeting, then moving to delivery of the cocktail and asking if we’d like our appetizers right away, or if we’d like some time to enjoy the cocktail first. Never rushed, never hovered over, and never ignored or waiting around (he said ‘just wave to me when you want anything). What a great evening!More

I’ve just had diner at Tante Charlotte with my wife and could not wait to write this review, so I’m doing it before going to bed. What an amazing time! So romantic... for my wife and I, and for our taste buds. They metaphorically made...love with the food. But it’s not just about love (it’s everywhere in France in anyway), it’s mainly about the experience. From the time you say “ J’ai une réservation au nom de... “ until the moment you step out. We were served by (can someone please tell me his name. I was too shy to ask) with a super friendly smile and an energy that made me feel like “can we please be friends?”. Diner is not just about the food. It’s about the moment of your day you dedicate to please your senses, and this is the perfect place for that. Also love reading the Tripadvisor comments 😆More

Where to begin? The decor is quirky and cool. The playlist is awesome. The owner runs the front of house and is so passionate and loves glitter! The welcome was warm and friendly. The menu is simple and yet so so so yummy! We chose...the all inclusive menu at €49 which was great value. Champagne cocktail Starter, main, dessert, coffee or tea and a bottle of wine. My partner is a veggie and for once, in France, I had food envy!! I started with an egg/soup combo whilst G had gazpacho. Main I chose a chicken supreme whilst G had the vegetarian platter. See the photos as his plate has about five different dishes. The Tarte Charlotte for dessert is a must!More
