Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Tante Charlotte was an amazing experience from the time we walked up to the door. We had no reservation, and there were 6 empty tables for 2 (it was pretty much exclusively couples). The discussion between the two very congenial ‘front’ people was almost like a piece of theatre as they discussed whether they could seat us. They decided yes…and we’re so glad they did (though I’m still not sure there was really an issue). We chose the menu, which includes a champagne cocktail, an appetizer, a main and dessert—and a bottle of wine for 2.
Romantic setting, incredibly personable—and personal—service, and delicious food. Fir all that you get, it’s a true bargain, to be honest. I could share what we ate, but I’m sure it changes. Highlights across our two sets of selections were gazpacho, duck and creme brûlée. The real highlight, though, was the experience, starting from that greeting, then moving to delivery of the cocktail and asking if we’d like our appetizers right away, or if we’d like some time to enjoy the cocktail first. Never rushed, never hovered over, and never ignored or waiting around (he said ‘just wave to me when you want anything). What a great evening!

Magnifique!
We managed to get a cancellation on the night; locals at the next table told us it is often booked weeks ahead so plan early! We had the tasting menu which was the best of all worlds, all á la carte dishes available for the tasting, plus an aperitif and a bottle of excellent wine.
€ 99 for 2, servis compris. How do they manage it?
The food was extremely tasty, adult size portions and a lot of information from the small host team if you want to ask anything. Finally my wife had pink duck perfectly cooked; the brown UK version has meant I’ve avoided it for years. A veal stew was so soft to eat but so many different tastes within it. A warm ambience and very attentive staff. If I am ever near Bordeaux again, I will look this restaurant out. Please try it.

We would thoroughly recommend this restaurant. It is small and cosy, each table lit by a candle therefore lots of atmosphere. The waiter was very attentive and knew exactly what each table needed. The food was excellent. We had the set price menu which included a cocktail, 3 courses of our choice , a bottle of wine and coffee (€49!) fantastic value. My husband had the duck as his main and says it was the best duck he has ever eaten.

Where to begin?
The decor is quirky and cool.
The playlist is awesome.
The owner runs the front of house and is so passionate and loves glitter!
The welcome was warm and friendly.
The menu is simple and yet so so so yummy!
We chose the all inclusive menu at €49 which was great value.
Champagne cocktail
Starter, main, dessert, coffee or tea and a bottle of wine.
My partner is a veggie and for once, in France, I had food envy!!
I started with an egg/soup combo whilst G had gazpacho.
Main I chose a chicken supreme whilst G had the vegetarian platter.
See the photos as his plate has about five different dishes.
The Tarte Charlotte for dessert is a must!

We had an excellent dinner here. We had seen good reviews and were lucky to arrive early to get the last table. The host was super welcoming and attentive al night and helped us with the French menu, wine choices and even a taxi at the end of our evening. The egg starter was exceptional and the canard main course delicious. We went for the set menu which was excellent value for apero, 3 courses, wine and coffee. Don’t hesitate to go here if you’re in the area but best to book as it’s very small. Thank you - we had a wonderful evening.

The best meal we had in Bordeaux. Really nice atmosphere. The host (also the owner) was amazing. He explained the menu to us non French speakers and his glasses of wine are HUGE! He even gave us suggestions where to to after our meal. This is a must if your visiting Bordeaux.

It was 39 degrees C on the night of our visit. There was no air conditioning but there were candles on the table! There were fans on the floor but the waiter did not like it when I switched the unused one at the empty table next to us on. The restaurant was nearly empty when all around they were very busy. The waiter then lectured me for taking up too much room with my chair- very rude. The menu was not great and very expensive, €49 fixed price each. Gazpacho was offered but made with water melon, for €10, not the tomato we expected with this name. This was very disappointing. We decided to leave and politely said it’s not for us. A few minutes later we received an abusive text from the waiter which was upsetting and uncalled for. We had a fabulous meal around the corner at Edouard where the food was great and the service outstanding.

Based on recommendations on Trip Advisor we booked dinner for our last night in Bordeaux. This small restaurant has a fixed price menu that includes three courses, an aperitif, a bottle of wine and coffee. The meal was delicious and the service was both prompt and friendly. The restaurant has a flamboyant air to it which adds to the experience.

When you enter the heavy drawn curtains and enter into the most romantic candle lit intimate restaurant you sense that the evening is going to be something special!
We were not disappointed.
We were welcomed by the owner and the menu was explained. We opted for the set menu and my goodness it was incredible! Confit of beef and baked Camembert to start, followed by us both opting for the duck, simply the best duck either of us has ever eaten. We were given time between courses and not rushed at all for dessert. It was late by the time we left but we were made to feel very welcome and time was of no issue.
There are so many superb restaurants in Bordeaux but this place is something very special. You won’t be disappointed! If you are lucky enough to find a table, don’t hesitate!
One final point, the owner is absolutely fabulous and someone you’d love to call your friend!

A truly romantic experience. Dark and mysterious, candles everywhere. Perfect music. Like eating in a scene from a gothic movie. The owner/manager greeted us from the moment we stepped in and treated us like regulars. How he managed to handle every table on his own and make it all look effortless was amazing! The food was delicious and elegantly presented (we both loved the duck). The value was also incredible. Highly recommend doing the set menu for €99 with wine and a lovely champagne apéritif!

I can totally understand why couples find this restaurant romantic. Slightly off the main thoroughfares of Bordeaux in the midst of where the younger population like to gather. Subdued lighting. Background music. Attentive service by staff keen to offer advice.
BUT one candle per table for those of more mature years can be just a little too dim and the music just a little too intrusive. It is now 4 weeks since our visit. I remember a very very rich gaspacho, which I found most pleasant. The mashed potato detailed as a speciality of the restaurant was certainly living up to its reputation served with the duck, and apparently most mains.

The candles aren’t the only highlight of the evening. With the menu for 2 we were able to set our own pace, “faites sign” when you are ready for the first course. Diners are thoughtfully placed into the tables so as not to be intrusive to each other, steak knives never were offered with so much flair! Portions on the large side so we compensated by eating slowly, no problem there. Glitter in the Bathroom. Exit stage: curtains dramatically drawn back for our grand Finale.

The restaurant is lovely and the 2 courses we had were lovely and tasty as was the wine. However the waiter/owner was extremely rude. He shushed us and didn't like us talking upsetting my friend very much and when I told him he'd upset here his whole demeanor changed. He took our plates away in an abrupt manner and reeled off the desert menu then stomped off to return saying what had spilt on the table(bearing in mind it was a plate full of shredded salad) I could eat what I had thrown on the table off the table and that we were not getting a desert or coffee and to get out of his restaurant as he was sick of Americans. We actually are English. I ended intears and left. The whole incident spoilt the end of a wonderful break away. I have never been shouted at and treated so disrespectfully in my life. Big tip don't go here if you like to talk and have a laugh and definitely DONT pass the time of day with the people on the next table.

We are welcomed by the boss who is absolutely adorable. Indeed, here it is 2 and no more. Those who come without reservation are warned with humor and kindness, with all due respect to those who like to post bad comments. The dishes are divine and really well served. I'm a big fan of cream, and Aunt Charlotte's dessert managed to stall me and I couldn't finish. The decor is superb and the background music is a little loud but allows you to stay in privacy and not hear the neighbors' conversation. Completely reasonable duo menu price.

The perfect place for a romantic tête-à-tête!! So YES a lot of things about Aunt Charlotte are Huge:
The joy of getting a reservation there the same day, the glittering and Atypical welcome, the wine list of exceptional quality, the cocooning spirit, the mashed potatoes with more real butter than potatoes which They remain on the plate, and above all the most enormous of all....the portion of CHARLOTTE whipped orange blossom, impossible to finish because the portions served on the other dishes are already Huge! So YES Aunt Charlotte is at her house....and does what she wants, but what a pleasure;...to feel the happiness of welcoming us and making us happy!
Dining in this establishment is a HUGE honor and thank you for respecting its values and choices, which is why we will only pass on this Huge good address rarely and with sensitivity.
