In the allegedly oldest restaurant in Strasbourg, located in the centre of the old town close to the cathedral. The interior is needless to say very quaint, wood panelled and traditional, feeling very cosy. The menu has a good range of dishes, including many Alsatian specialities, the wine list also has a better than average range of choices. Food quality... More

We stayed at the Hotel Gutenberg and asked for a dinner recommendation for authentic Alsatian cuisine, not too fancy or expensive. This restaurant was quite close to our hotel and was exactly what we hoped for. My husband had the Choucroute and I had the coq au Riesling. They were both delicious and we enjoyed our waiter Michael. We are... More

Had a great meal. Service was good and food top notch "homey" cooking. Might be a little off putting due to tourist location but worth a try if it fits in your budget

Supposedly the oldest "winstub" (meaning "restaurant") of Strasbourg this restaurant has kept the traditionnal decoration (all in wood with gorgeous stained glass) The place is quite small, but it's really nice and warm We 've only had the traditionnal "flammekueche" and they were excellent ! probably among the best we had during our stay !!

Unpretentious, well priced & delicious. I highly recommend this place, especially if you only have a night or two in Alsace and want to get an idea of what the cuisine is all about. A must staple should be the choucroute which is excellently prepared. I ordered the coq au vin with spätzle. Made with Riesling as opposed to red... More

We came to the Strissel with a recommendation from our travel guide. Our table was reserved on the first floor, a beautiful historic dining room called the Zunftstube. We did not regret not to have been outside although the weather was great. All of us decided to have white asparagus (as per the season) with salads, sauce hollandaise and vinegrette.... More

Entered with my 25-year-old son, in this winstub on February 14th, 2016 at 6:30 pm, we went out of it at 7:15 pm. 1. Toilet doubtful, paper cleanliness being lying about on the ground although we are the first customers! 2. Settled back in the door, from the opening of this one, I was pierced by a current of cold... More

My partner and I enjoyed an excellent alsatian meal with an excellent bottle of Riesling. Quiet and private ... relatively inexpensive.

Our group of 10 stopped in here shortly after Christmas and we quickly able to find a table. The waitress was very short but understood German and English which was great for our group. Food was delicious and came out relatively quickly, Drink and refill service was a bit slow. Would have been a better experience if our waitress was... More

We had our Christmas Day lunch here. We sat upstairs. The upstairs section was charming and ambiant. We had the Christmas meal but other dishes were also available. Our meal was delectable -cooked to perfection. I am not usually a fan of pate de foie but this was in a sauce of Christmas spices and we literally wiped the plates... More
