Had open air meals here on 2 occasions recently since level 3 regulations were applied. Wear warm clothes and enjoy the fresh air. Very good Covid compliance. Staff are exceptionally warm and welcoming. The Breakfast and Lunch menus are both enticing. The meals are served...in good quality take away type containers. Eat out of the box and the food remains hot. Tea topped up. Enjoyed both meals. Very good value. Well done again to everyone in Jailers Rest. HarryMore

Well, we went into what we perceived to be a cafe, got top class restaurant quality food. Crab claws for herself and for me, boneless chicken wings in super sauce (cant remember the name of it) and Mother had chowder, best she ever tasted I'm...told. Lovely atmosphere, staff friendly, you would think you were in every day of the week, they were lovely. Will be back.More

Not only is the food delicious here but the staff are unbelievably friendly and nothing is a problem. I would safely say it is the most welcoming and tasty spot for brekkie and lunch in Wicklow.

I like the Jailer's Rest as the staff are very nice and the food consistently good. They have erected partitions between the seats in order to protect customers during the pandemic. A very nice place to eat at any time.

We visited Wicklow's Historic Jail and then the Jailer's Rest for lunch. I'm a Coeliac so I didn't expect much more than a latte and a GF brownie if I was lucky. I asked my server (great to sit outside in the sunshine, all tables...and seats sanitised after last diners) if there was anything gluten free on the menu. She amazed me by telling me the menu was adaptable for GF as they prepare food using separate clean chopping boards, use GF bread on request and make their food fresh. You could order GF BLT or GF meals, GF sandwiches etc. I had beetroot and feta salad and it was tasty. The chef didn't add dressing so their understanding of cross contamination and trace gluten is excellent as my server also explained the chips share oil with other breaded food. Staff were very friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed. Good value simple food. I'll be back!More

This is a lovely cosy restaurant beside the gaol. The staff are really friendly and the food is always fresh and tasty. The coffee is really good and the toasted sandwiches a family favourite.

We just enjoyed a fabulous lunch here, we both had the Seafood Pie and we also both said it was the best we’d ever had! Add to that the lovely staff and excellent service and you’ve got somewhere lovely to eat! And the Gaol was...cool tooMore

Went for late breakfast today. Staff were so friendly. We got full Irish breakfast each, they were happy to accommodate taking things off and on, was served quickly. Delicious breakfast. New favourite breakfast spot in the town.

We regularly get breakfast here , sometimes just a mid afternoon coffee or lunch. Every single time we are there the staff are really friendly, the food is great too but, for me, the staff make this a great spot. For larger groups recommend reserving.
