Had lunch in the Old Ship twice this week.....the food was absolutely unreal, top top class.
Veg soup and homemade brown bread during the week, was the finest soup I have ever tasted, really filling and such great value for a light lunch.
Today I had the Fish Box and it was easily the nicest "fish and chips" I have ever had, three types of fish cooked so perfectly, served with fries and a side of salad and chipotle sauce....unreal 5 🌟!!

Service as always was amazing. My mother got the BBQ loaded fries and said it was the best meal she has had in a long time. I got the beef burger which was massive and so nice. We also got the baby bowl for my son. Was lovely and he ate loads but what was amazing is they charged only €2 for a massive bowl. Was so nice to see and other places can learn from that.

A charming pub offering beautiful food, with a welcoming and friendly service that makes you feel right at home. The dishes are both delicious and well-presented, and the price point is more than reasonable for the quality. A great spot to relax and enjoy a meal with friends or family.

Had dinner here last night with my wife after reading reviews. On arrival staff friendly and attentive, but when food came (chicken goujons and fish box) for mains, chicken appeared ovecooked and fish was bland,no lemon just quite greasy chips and salad on both was uneventful. All condiments were cleared off tables.by 8pm.
We asked for the dessert menu at 8pm following our main meal, and were told by our server that he would check if they were still serving dessert. He came back and gave us the dessert menu. When asked if my wife could have ice cream instead of fresh cream with the cheesecake, instead we were told "it is just 3 toppings off the list".
Overall I would have to give this pub restaurant 3 out of 5 as we have eaten better in other the pub restaurants around the country, and will give this one a miss in future. Disappointing as looking forward to this visit, whilst staying in a nearby hotel.

We popped in for breakfast, it was really nice, I had the full Irish, perfectly cooked bacon, egg, sausages B&W pudding, tomato, mushrooms and hash brown, my wifes poached eggs were perfect served with homemade brown bread toast and a pot of tea. Service was excellent, great start to any day. We will definitely return.

This was the first time we visited, and I would happily take a trip to Arklow solely to eat here again. We visited with two children and the staff could not have been nicer to them , taking the time to chat to them and listen. The food was lovely, we had a three course meal that was really reasonably priced for the quality of food provided.
The warmth and attentiveness of the staff was noteworthy, and was evident in the attention given to all customers. They even came out after me when I forgot umberellas.I couldn't recommend it highly enough , really enjoyed the visit.

Great service and absolutely fantastic food. Myself and my wife loved everything about our visit. All of the staff were very polite and helpful. I would strongly recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys fresh food, great service and a good price.

Excellent vlean fresh food highly recommended, reasonably priced.
Along with my wife and son we enjoyed fresh and tasty hotdogs with crispy onions and chips.Huge sausage and light bread rolls. Highly recommended, only €38.85.And a huge jug of water with lime cordial. Excellent friendly staff and a clean well maintained restuarant and bar. My photo does not show the full hotdog, I had bitten a bit off they were huge.

Honest to goodness and delicious food. The usual favourites that you’d expect on a menu are there, but my favourite is often the soup and sandwich - their soups are among the tastiest and freshest I’ve had anywhere. When I’m more ravenous, the specials include such classics as roast beef, bacon and cabbage, lasagne and many more. Never had a bad meal here. My only complaint is that the portions are often too generous and I feel bad if I’m full and unable to finish! (I’m told that half portions are an option!) As a boozer, the pints of Guinness are creamy and delicious, and you’ll be hard pressed to find a more friendly, fun and welcoming crew than Sean and his team. During the dark days of Covid, this was a pub that looked after its customers and took all reasonable precautions to keep them safe. It was one of only a very small number of establishments in which I felt comfortable eating and drinking while bearing in mind my elderly mum, who I wanted to be able to visit. It may be an old ship (I believe the building is around 250 years old), but it’s a good ship. Can’t recommend it highly enough.

We were looking for a dog friendly restaurant with heated/covered outdoor dining in Wicklow and came across this place. When we arrived they had sanitation stations and required masks/social distancing which was great. We sat out the back of the bar with our dog which was quiet.
We ordered the Guinness beef stew special which my partner loved, he said the mash potato was very smooth too. I had the falafel burger which I was surprised at how good it was, not many places offer a good vegetarian option but this place did! The pint of Bulmers was nice too.
It was a great place for a meal with our dog during our staycation and was very cheap too - less than €30 for a pint and two main courses!

All I can say is wow, what a delicious Pasta in a creamy tomato sauce with added chicken we had. Our waitress even surprised us with lovely mocktails. Such attentive staff! The best meal we’ve had in Arklow. Thank you once again, we’ll be back when next in the area

I was in the The Old Ship recently for a family night out. We had a great time. The menu is plentiful there are so many options for everyone. We all ordered different dishes nearly and everything came out presented well , wam and delicious. The minute steak was perfectly cooked and I had mushrooms and bacon on toast as a starter and it was really tasty. The desserts were huge and the cheesecake was really special - plenty to feed the family. The staff were all professional , attentive and cheerful and the manager was very helpful in organising taxis for those who wanted. We had a great evening and would definitely recommend.

We went on a Saturday at 12.30pm to watch a match . Lovely cosy little pub, really friendly and efficient staff. Tellys in every corner, with all different different sport / matches . We ended up having lunch. You can tell everything is homemade. Even down to a ham and cheese toasty, the ham were big thick delicious hone made ham. The soup sounded very strange , bacon and potatoes, but it was absolutely gorgeous . The kids had gougons and wings, and again nothing came straight from the freezer ,it was all fab !! Cant wait to return !!

Was here for a family dinner. There was a Thanksgiving menu along with normal menu. Food is of a very high quality and all the group cleared their plates. Definitely call in here if you’re in Arklow you will be well fed. Staff very attentive.
