I had lunch here with some friends in late August. The food was perfect. Our group had the chowder, crab mornay, prawn cocktail, baked oysters, wholemeal scones, and the banoffee pie. We were all very happy. The food was perfect. The restaurant's compliance with the new Covid-19 rules was outstanding. All the staff wore masks, the tables were well spaced apart, and they even gave us bags to dispose of our used napkins. The staff made us all feel very safe and allowed us to enjoy our food in comfort. Some other restaurants should take note! I'll definitely be back again soon. They also serve a great pint of Guinness!

We made a reservation for Monday night 3rd of August for 4 people, after hearing so much about this restaurant, we were all excited to visit and it didn’t let us down, service was really good, great choice of seafood on menu, lovely small wine list with something on it for everyone plus there is a full bar if anyone fancies a pint, we opted for mussels, crab claws & chowder for starters all delicious and they came with homemade brown scones, mains was sea bass and cod, the largest portion of cod we had ever seen or been served in any restaurant, beautiful flavours & texture. We shared a dessert between us of profiteroles, all in all a lovely dining experience & to top it all our waitress offered to give us a lift home. This restaurant will be on the top of my list on my next return trip to Wexford & I cant wait.

We visited the Lobster Pot over the August Bank-Holiday Weekend. We had made a reservation (to comply with restaurants COVID-19 guidelines) the week before. Heard great reviews of the Lobster Pot from friends, and we were not disappointed! Staff were very friendly and helpful upon arrival. We also felt very comfortable as they were so well organised regarding social distancing, face coverings/masks & cleanliness. Once we were seated, we were left a Contact tracing form which we filled in, and also a bag for our used serviettes etc. All staff were more than happy to assist in any way. For starters we had the Grilled Crab Claws & Grilled Wexford Mussels, we would highly recommend both dishes as they were lovely! Fantastic flavour, will definitely be ordering both again! For Mains we had the Roast Half Duckling & Kilmore King Scallops The duck was cooked beautifully, nice and crispy with a rich piquant port wine sauce. The scallops were served in a rich creamy wine sauce, the flavour was fabulous & the portion size was very good. Would highly recommend! Great atmosphere, great food & will be back

I visited The Lobster Pot for lunch with two family members over the August Bank Holiday weekend. Upon arrival, I asked for a seat and was met with a stern "no" by a very unfriendly waitress (let's call her "Waitress 1") . She said the place needs to be cleaned, in an obvious reference to COVID-19 guidelines. I turned to the barman and asked if it were possible to eat outside in the restaurants beer garden. He abruptly said no food is allowed outside, it will be 20 minutes until I can be seated and I must wait outside. When my party was eventually seated, Waitress 1 appeared and ordered my girlfriend to move her chair around the table in order to keep 2 metres from a neighbouring table, which my girlfriend complied with. Shortly thereafter, the manager approached the table and tried to drag my girlfriends chair even further around the table sayjng she needed more distance between the tables. While reading the menu, we asked if we could order a drink. The manager snapped back "No. We hold a restaurant licence. Order food first!". We ordered and were served our food. The restaurant forgot our drinks until being reminded of them. During our meal, Waitress 1 came up to the table and threw down a contact tracing form for us to complete and walked away. We finished our meal and were presented with a plastic bag to dispose of all our napkins in. We paid and upon exit were very rudely herded out the back door by Waitress 1. It must be said that the food is delicious and the prices are just about in line with tourist spots in Ireland. However the service is possibly the most unfriendly and borderline offensive service I have ever encountered, home or abroad.

Really enjoyed our dinner here. We had the crab cocktail and pate to start - both gorgeous. We then had the centre cut fillet steak and crispy duck for mains. I had the crispy duck twice in one week last year it was that good. The combination of the stuffing , potato , duck and piquant sauce is to die for . This year it was still delicious but the duck was very fatty there wasn’t as much meat as I would like . The steak comes with the sauce already poured so make sure to ask for it on the side if you don’t want it served like that. We had pear and almond tart for dessert which was fab too. The montepulciano by the glass was really nice too . All staff wore masks and we were given little plastic bags for our used serviettes / wrappers etc which was a good idea. We had to ask staff when we wanted to use the bathroom and they would check to make sure there wasn’t too many people in there . We also had a dedicated door to exit through . Everything was explained very well to us and the service was excellent , staff were very friendly .

I have worked in the catering industry all my life and have have eaten in this restaurant many times over the years. This restaurant used to be booked in advance for months! The service and quality of the food has gone from excellent to utter garbage.Getting away for a mini break this would have been one of the highlights of the trip.I felt extremely disappointed and ripped off.We were served frozen fish, frozen bread crumbed chicken and frozen chips and that was the best of what was on offer. It was contract catering staff food from 20 years ago. Rumours have abounded over the years that the present owners were about to sell the business.I think the time has now come for them to move over and let somebody with a better understanding of quality food, product delivery and hospitality to take control.I for one will not be returning until this happens.

You can’t assess a restaurant against normal criteria in the middle of a global pandemic. Nonetheless, the way in which our visit to The Lobster Pot was handled was exemplary, removing any anxiety about venturing out. Staff were friendly and service efficient. The food was great: locally-landed seafood and locally-grown vegetables, cooked to allow the freshness of the produce to speak for itself. While we’d have loved to have stayed beyond the mandated slot, we didn’t feel hurried: but we would go back next time we’re in the area.

In 6 years of expiernce of the hospitality sector. I have never been so embarsed by the owners of an establishment in the way in which we were treated. The duck was dry, chewy and bland. Fish was overcooked. And mushy in the inside. My partner said their would be more flavour in a glass of water. The starters were delicious. So I had given the benefit of the doubt to the restaurant since it is under new ownership. The owner listened for the whole of 10 seconds, advised she would check with the kitchen. She shortly came back to say their was nothing wrong with the dish and is exactly how it should be, with that is how it is served. I attempted to say this is not the case I have ever had in any other establishment. I felt the owner did not care. The owner has no mannners walking away from the table smug and ignorant manner. When it came to pay the bill, her attitude of ignorance continued. A dinner that cost us 57 euro (after the duck was removed from the bill) no apology given. The owner had the audacity in saying, maybe this isn't the type of place for you. As a local living here 20 years, being told something like that is simply horrific. Bring Anne and Kieran A Herne back for their hospitable welcome and faboulous food.

I stopped today to have lunch at The Lobster Pot. It was so safe, with sanitiser available at every doorway. Staff wore masks and were distanced throughout, yet that didn't prevent a warm welcome or discrete service. I was asked to fill out the trace form and provided with a pen. It was so safe, I never felt worried! I ordered the crab mornay and oh my goodness, it didn't disappoint. It took me all I could do to not pick up the bowl and pick these cheese off. It was served with a tasty, fresh salad, and a generous helping of home made brown scones. It really was superb! Highly recommended, and I'll be back!!

We were excited to try the Lobster pot after reading it was now in new ownership and the great reviews on trip advisor . We were fully aware of the prices of the dishes prior to visiting (menus are published on website) . I just found it incomprehensible to relate the reviews on here with the experience we had . The food was only ok , we had lobster and mornay. Presentation was really poor big clunky off white crockery that you would expect to see in a canteen . The lobster was 28e and the meat we got was no more than the size of two prawns , served with a tasteless sauce and a really basic garden salad, leaves, cucumber and tomato with a bland dressing and chips . Two people in our party had the lobster special and were still hungry after it . The portion size was measly for the price charged . Wine was served in thick old style wine glasses . There was just nothing at all special about the food or the service that could justify the prices charged . The food was edible to be fair just not anything special . The restaurant was cold with nothing only cutlery on the table , no basics even like salt or pepper on the table . It was a treat to go there and we were really looking forward to it . Unfortunately would not be going back again .

Unfortunately we can not recommend the lobster pot. Being local thought we would support the new owners and have been here on a number of occasions. Nearly every time they have let us down provided a poor service on every level and we now will not go back. My first bill was over 195 euro and I had to go in the following day to complain at an extra bottle and an ice cream had been put on the bill which was then removed. Second time bill of 145 euro glass of wine 9 euro which is a joke considering the location. Constantly making out they are reserved when they are not trying to create a demand that has to be earned. The new owners are anything but friendly and have made it clear they do not want people just drinking in the establishment. We overheard her telling a family that locals initially were crying over the change in food from the previous owners I'm not sure what her issue is with locals but its a long winter. Not once did the owner introduce herself displaying a degree of arrogance I can only find difficult to stomach and the final straw today crab cakes undercooked and tasteless with a few dry salad leaves so i returned it. Ordered a chowder instead which previous day was very good this time over seasoned with a taste which i found awful. Do not mind paying for one of the dishes but they charged me for both at full price. They constantly tell people that the food is seasoned well enough and remind you not to over season well i think the customer decides on how much salt or pepper is needed so again at 47 years old I think i know how much salt i need on chips thanks very much. Will not be going back

First thing's first, this is a seafood restaurant called Loster Pot, and they don't serve lobster! I was a bit surprised amd disappointed at this. Its like going to a steakhouse with no steaks... anyway.. the setting is lovely, nice old-style pub well presented. I got chowder for starter, wife got scallops, chowder was nice, scallops were great, but both could have been hotter. A shame because the scallops was a great dish, the bisque was delicious. On to the mains, I went with the special, which was halibut, lovely pieces of fish, well cooked, the accompaniments were okay, probably not to my taste so fair enough. A good main. My wife got the linguini; we are both huge fans of seafood linguini. Whilst there was a nice selection of fish, mussels prawns, I thought the sauce tasted exactly like spaghetti hoop sauce, too sweet and cheap tasting. I didn't say it at the time as I didn't want to ruin my wife's meal, but she said the exact same thing afterwards! Dessert was chocolate brownie and was lovely. All in all, the food was mixed to average. It was also quite expensive, Dublin prices but not at that standard. 3.50 an oyster?! Wouldn't be in a rush back.

This was our first time in the area at a mealtime for some years and we looked forward to being in the Lobster Pot once again. We were not disappointed - very efficient booking system, high standards of care over Covid 19 precautions. A warm welcome from owner who supervises everything very well. All the staff were excellent as was the service. The meal was first class, including the duck to die for! A visit to the Lobster Pot is a wonderful experience and we will be back soon even though it is a one and a half hours drive away from home. Thank you Ann!

We ate here Saturday night with friends having heard great things about the Sallins Two Cooks restaurant. I was always a fan of the Lobster Pot but was excited to hear it had been bought over by Nicola and Josef. It did not disappoint. We booked online which is so convenient. The inside remains unchanged, cosy and atmospheric with the addition of a drinks room for pre/post dinner socialising. The new seating areas outside look great also. We started with cocktails, which were delicious, shared a chicken wing starter and had the monkfish curry, chicken Parmigiana with Parmesan fries and cauliflower sides and every dish was a winner. Portions are generous and for people with healthy appetites we were all happily full. Service was prompt but not stuffy, Nicola chatted afterwards with us talking about the plans they have which all sound like welcome additions to the area. We will be back and would definitely recommend. So good to have this option on our doorstep.
