It had been ages since we last dined at Wild and Native what with Covid restrictions and renovation work being carried on at the restaurant so I was hoping that it would be as good as the last time we were there. It wasn’t- it...was even better. The interior is so much improved and pleasant but the star of the show is of course the food. It was absolutely first class- we both said it was the best - his was the best fillet ever and my plaice and prawns were just perfection. The staff are just so nice as well- we’ll be back again soon.More
We entered the restaurant with two children under 4. Always a nerve wracking feat when you wish to fine dine. Restaurants can turn up their cheek to us but not Wild and Native.
We were greeted by a waitress who told us to try to...book online and that they opened in 30min. We stepped out in the front porch to try to book online. They were booked solid as it was a Friday night. Not a moment later the chef stepped out and chatted to us briefly and within minutes he had us at a table ready to dine in 15min! We were ever so grateful! Our children are used to dining out and are very well behaved but it was still a pleasure to be feeding them before they may interrupt a restaurant filled with distinguished guests.
The chef set us up straight away with some home made breads for the kids to tuck in. They were divine! Both white and brown breads were very fresh, flavourful and exactly what you hope for in an Irish bread.
We had the mussels to start and the sauce, while simple, was exquisite. Fresh seafood sourced well doesn’t need any saucy flare. Keep it simple and let it speak for itself. The leftover sauce was splashed into our daughter’s plain pasta noodles and gobbled up happily by both our girls. We had the Brill and also the scallops and prawn for mains and a bottle of French Picoul wine. This paired nicely as the crisp wine cut the delicate sauces on both seafood dishes. Local Spuds steamed as a delicious side. In both dishes the seafood was cooked to perfection. Sauces accompanied the seafood like a supporting act just as they should.
The chef came out to check on our meals and was very kind to offer our daughters some complimentary hot chocolate drinks. He was clearly also the owner and ran a tight ship despite the lack of staff that the country is facing due to covid changing the landscape.
Overall our experience at Wild and Native was divine. While not a typical family restaurant, it was a meal that we could relish and enjoy because we have well behaved littles who are growing into quite the foodies themselves. I wouldn’t recommend this place for children who can’t sit still or can get noisy. But for a foodie family that enjoys fine dining, this is just the place to taste some local Irish food at its finest. Thank you for such a wonderful and delicious evening out!More
We shared a starter of mussels, then my friend had the monkfish and I had a fillet steak. All were delicious and cooked perfectly. The one disappointment was the vegetables, a boring selection cooked without any imagination. My friend declared the creme brulee the best...she ever tasted, I passed on dessert. We enjoyed a delicious bottle of Albarino at €33.More
We visited Wild n Native last week without a reservation, we were met by the owner and she was so accommodating getting us a lovely quiet table. All the Covid guidelines were followed before we entered and this made us feel very safe.
The food...was absolutely lovely and the atmosphere was very relaxed. The waitress was just the loveliest intelligent relaxed lady without being overbearing and gave us great attention without it being overwhelming.
Thank you all for a lovely evening.

Food was just superb.
We were a group of three, each ordering different meals. All excellent.
If you like quality food this is the place to go.
Not cheap, but why would it be, you get what you pay for here.
As we were staying in a nearby Hotel, we booked this restaurant on line, and were very pleased to note that they adhered strictly to COVID19 guidelines. The food served here is excellent, and is a must for anybody who enjoys seafood prepared to perfection,...there are also Chicken, Beef/Pork and Vegetarian options on a menu that offers a good choice. The staff were very pleasant, and a good quality Wine List complemented the Menu. Would certainly come here again as it would be one of the best seafood restaurant that I have experienced in IrelandMore
