We met a friend here for lunch recently, and must say that it wa very enjoyable. The restaurant was quite busy with most tables full, bet we were seated and looked after promptly. Good selection on the menu ( seafood chowder was great), and priced quite realistically. Portion size and presentation was very good. Quality of the food was excellent. I would definetly return.

I had lunch in the Dunbrody Captains table today and it was delicious. I hadn't been in for a long time due to Covid. I was given a very warm welcome and it felt good to getting back to some normality and in a very nice place. I was looking for something light as I planned to have a big meal in the evening time. I chose a mushroom dish which when it came literally turned heads. It looked like a fancy desert such was the level of presentation. It tasted fantastic too. The staff in there are friendly and on their game. The chef is very good too, lunch is made to feel like something special. Many thanks to the Dunbrody for a very pleasant Friday lunch. See you soon again hopefully.

Found ourselves here on a miserable wet day. Having selected the ham and chees croquettes from the specials menu our day started to improve greatly. They were delicious and the serving ample. It was a very pleasant surprise and cheered us both up. Would love to think we will visit again one day if back in the area.

The service in this place is utterly depressed. They are clearly understaffed at the weekend and take this frustration out on the customers clearly. I had to send back my food because it came out freezing cold only to be informed the kitchen staff wouldn’t be impressed because they were so busy? I mean come on. The staff also need to be updated on barrista training. I’ve been here twice in the last six months and both times I wouldn’t serve the capucionno to a dog. Absolutely slopped up. No presentation skills whatsoever. It’s not good enough to be charging the best of €4 for a coffee presented in that manner. Busy or not, the customer experience should not be lacking. Especially when it is a Saturday, surely it’s common sense to predict you would be busy on a weekend morning in mid July. I understand the weekend is busy, but surely it’s simple enough to hire additional weekend staff to clear the tables rather than complaining to the paying customers about how busy the restaurant is and making the dining experience completely unpleasant. I think management and senior staff need to remember that there are paying customers coming in for a dining experience, in what is already an overpriced establishment. Attention to detail is lacking and won’t be returning any time soon.

I visited this restaurant on my way back from wexford..while most staff were fabulous..my issue is with the behavour of the male table attendant...while he was chatting with the couple at the next table, his mask was under his chin.. I highlighted the issue with him when he came to take our order while still wearing his mask under his chin..he dismissed our concerns saying 'I'm ok'.. when he continued to wear his mask incorrectly, I raised the issue with his female colleague..she requested him to wear his mask correctly..his mask was on and off during our whole dining experience...since indoor dining only commenced on Mon. and this was Tues. ..I feel that his attitude is totally unacceptable in present circumstances..Helen

With current covid restrictions we had to dine outside and the weather wasn't in our favour ! However the staff were so accommodating, helpful and friendly. They really make this a lovely place to dine. The food was delicious and there was a good selection.

Captains Table is a lovely choice for food in New Ross. The customer service is great and I want to give special mention to Olive who is a friendly and kind waitress. There cafe overlooks the River Barrow and the Dunbrody Famine Ship.

All food and drinks priced to the max for an average run of the mill restaurant. Sunday lunch meal deal roast chicken which was on the website wasn't available anymore .higher prices than most avoid if you don't want to get ripped off

I met a lady in a car park in New Ross when I was parking my car did she know of anyplace nice I would get a nice breakfast, she recommended this lovely restaurant. It has everything going for it from location, views, hygiene, friendly and attentive staff and most importantly delicious food. A fantastic menu is fairly priced. Civid safe with a smile is how I would describe the friendliest of welcomes from the lady who scans certs and takes details as you enter the building. Many thanks for a lovely morning.

Lovely friendly cafe upstairs at the Dunbrody Famine Ship experience. Great views of the waters below, the famine ship and the waterfront. It's has a lovely terrace outside if you get the weather, otherwise its warm and cosy inside..I didnt have a meal, just tea and biscuits but I really enjoyed it.

All our food was fantastic and absolutely delicious. A gorgeous setting and the service was excellent. They were very much Covid conscious but it didn't take from our lovely experience. I would highly recommend this restaurant!!

Sept 2019 business
No wonder the tourist say ‘rip off Ireland’ half portions here are much smaller than in other restaurants but the price much bigger. For a €13.00 main course half portion of same main course cost €10 but very very mean portion size. Very disappointed, and because of this experience will not return. I bring clients out to dinner from time to time and find smaller portions at lunch time more suitable most of the time, but this is one place that will not be on my list when dining out at lunchtime because of the highly priced very small portion size.
