Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.

My boyfriend and I (both vegetarian) came to the Granary Cafe this morning around noon for a bite to eat before our long journey home from Waterford. Was going to order the vegetarian panini as it looked very nice but the girl then consulted with the chef and offered us the vegetarian hot dish either which was just ready as we were ordering. It sounded good so we went for it. It was veggie curry in a wrap with basmati rice. Worth it! The chef even offered us chips and courgette ratatouille with it. The presentation was beautiful and the taste was even better. Unfortunately I couldn't finish my plate as my appetite is quite small anyway but it was great value for money! Have never had a dish like this before nevermind it being uniquely perfect for a vegetarian. The coffees we ordered were excellent too and the service was brilliant, staff were very friendly. Will definitely be returning when I visit the city again.

Staff were friendly and food service was very quick. Good value for money too. As a vegan, there weren’t many options on the menu for me but the chefs were accommodating and cooked a decent hot breakfast to cater for me.

A staff member was extremely rude to me and charged me for a tea that I didn’t order. When I told her she has made a mistake, she accused me of lying and said they didn’t sell what I had originally ordered, I had to put it out on the menu for her! And she still charged me the more expensive price. Very disappointing.

First time visit to the Granary earlier today, immediately noticed lack of choice on the menu, half of the food listed on the website menu wasn't available or obvious. Asked the guy serving about a chicken burger, "No burgers today, we only do burgers on Thursday" how did I, as a first time visitor not know that! I said oh it's on your website, he mumbled something else as if it was my fault the website was out of date and I should just know that.
Having travelled from Kilkenny for a nice meal in a place that had won awards I gave it the benefit of the doubt. Settled for a pulled pork wrap with chips and a coffee. Chips were cold and tasteless, it's hard to mess chips up but they managed. The "pulled pork" wrap had so little pork I'm not sure it can be advertised as pork, full of salad with onions, tomatoes, peppers and by the time I got to the second half it was soggy and the crisps on the side were also soggy. (If I wasn't so hungry I wouldn't have eaten it) The latte was okay, I had asked for a single shot and the waitress was helpful and friendly, gave me extra hot milk in case it was too strong, the other waitress who served at the till was also pleasant and helpful.
Used the toilets and they weren't obviously clean, bit scruffy, tissue on the floor, a light flickering that needed to be replaced.
The overall experience was really disappointing, paid 13.35 just for my food and I could have had a really nice lunch for that. I didn't see the point in bringing it to the attention of staff as it's the owners responsibility. The place has really been let go, one of the people I was with had been before and said it had really gone downhill. It's certainly not as advertised and the out of date menu on the website needs to be replaced.

We stopped in Waterford for lunch and my sister had read about this restaurant, so we decided to check it out. We first noticed the great outdoor dining area and immediately got excited. The menu options are plentiful! It takes a minute to take it all in. Everything is made fresh and there are lots of vegetarian and vegan options, it was hard to choose! I had the roasted veggie sandwich with a side of curried corn and cauliflower salad, and it was delicious. The chips were delicious too, seasoned well and the perfect crunch. Highly recommend a cappuccino too☕️. Everything is priced very reasonably, I was surprised how affordable it was for such fresh unique options. The servers are all very kind and helpful as well, and either the owner or manager went above and beyond! He saw us head to eat outside and ran ahead to put tables together for us. We asked him for a recommendation on what to see before continuing our drive to Cork, and we wound up getting several days worth of recommendations in each city that we’re visiting! So far they have been great!

Went into this cafe with my sister today... unfortunately I’m one of those people that has a dietary restriction and the chef/owner (I presume) overheard me asking the lovely polite girl had they vegan options, and popped out from behind the the kitchen with a cheery hello and asked me “what wud you normally eat” and I kinda gets embarrassed as for it’s a medical issue and numerous of cafes and restaurants have rolled eyes at me before, BUT not this lil gemstone of a place.... it was heartwarming to be asked what I’d like rather than thats all you have to choose from.. even got me to throw over a pepper under the serving counter to top off my lil salad..Haha chirpy lil top it all off service. well it was a huge salad with lovely fresh veg.. from all locally sourced and grown veg... COVID-19 certainly didn’t damping this lil place as for it’s obvious choice of service people and local ms alike.. thank you again for today x

We arrived at the Granary Cafe on Saturday morning before 9am and we were the first customers. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed sitting outside. The coffee, scone, almond croissant, and porridge were all delicious. The porridge came with seeds and honey on the side. The only regret is that they were closed on Sunday morning so we weren't able to go back! Thoroughly recommend!

Huge thanks to Peter and his team for ensuring that my sons second lockdown birthday was a success. Peter delivered a gorgeous lunch - sourdough bread, spinach and chicken roulade, 2 flavoursome salads, and an AMAZING chocolate fudge cake. There was enough for dinner on day two and we’re still eating the cake. Our little COVID bubble had a lovely time and mammy got to enjoy the day without fussing over pots and pans. Highly recommend The Granary for home catering and thrilled to see the new outdoor space for eating on site. Photo only shows half of the salad - the dressing was sooooo good.

I was lucky enough to win a voucher from Granary Cafe in Waterford. Today I went to collect it. I've decided to use it straight away as you all know that from tonight Ireland is going into level 5. How huge my surprise was that I was given so many cakes, the value of which was much higher than the voucher. Literally, I was told that I can pick whatever I want. And what a selection!!!
That's not my first visit to Granary Cafe. But one thing I want to say: If you are looking for good and delicious food, freshly cooked for you and served in a very polite and professional manner, then Granary Cafe is your place to go. Also what stroke me today was that I saw a beautiful looking, elegant lady who came in for her scone and tea. She was greeted by Peter and Ray and they wished her Happy birthday and had a chat with her. She was so surprised that they knew😊🥳 The lady has turned 94 today. To me that speaks louder than anything else. Such a cordial, personal touch to their customers. I want to thank Peter, Ray and all the lads working in there and I am going to proceed with my slice of cake (by the way, freshly baked in Granary)😉

A group of seven visited The Granary this morning for breakfast. I can't recommend it enough. The staff were so friendly and helpful, the restaurant itself is bright, airy and most importantly in the current climate spotlessly clean. There were both adults and children in our group and everyone loved the food. It was fresh, tasty and served by such friendly genuine staff. We'll definitely be back on our next visit to Waterford.

We were lucky to get a table here for lunch. The place was packed out and staff were stressed but they managed to squeeze us in. Homemade soup was flavoursome and just enough to fill a weary shopper. We had paninis and quiches with salad, all very fresh and decent portions. The lunches were so light we managed deserts - the pavlova was brilliant.
Really good value and with a stop if passing

Attended an informal early (10am) coffee meeting, greeted by an array of delicious,
freshly made sandwiches, pastries, and hard to resist cakes.
Very friendly and smiling staff, spotless toilet facilities.
Highly recommend for just a quick tea/coffee visit or a group meeting.

After a 4 hour trip from Galway on the train, i was hungry! This quiet, surprisingly spacious cafe had the best food. I had the mushroom omelette and it was delicious. I’m not a huge sausage fan, but the sausage that can with the meal was melt in your mouth good; the omelette was incredible; the rashers and toast (fabulous strawberry jam!) were so great.
I would highly recommend this place to anyone staying here for a day or two.

Such a fantastic experience here. The atmosphere the welcome the food, the quality is second to none.
Peter and his team went above and beyond to ensure that I could have a gluten free breakfast. This is the best gluten free breakfast I've ever had.
Oat milk flat white is simply delicious.
The price points are brilliant, gray value for money. The breakfast and portions are huge.
The team here are so helpful, knowledgeable and really care about their customers.
Ten out of ten from me. Will definitely be back
