I would return in a heart beat!

We were staying in a nearby hotel and fancied something different to eat. We went in at 5.30pm and it was actually fully booked in both the restaurant and the bar. However, they very kindly gave us a table if we could vacate within 1 hr 30/45. That was plenty for us, too adults and two children aged 5 and 3. The food was so good!!!such a good variety from both the a la carte and bar menu. Adults had two steaks cooked to perfection, the children had pasta and sausage and chips and they ate so well. Chicken wing starters were delicious and the kids loved their ice cream deserts. The servers were so attentive and great at their job! Wish I had of got their name. Gave the kids a wee lolly pop to end their day. What a great spot, I would definitely return if I am back in the area.

Sligo has lots of great food outlets, this is one

Food was excellent. Chicken wings and nacho mains for adults, spaghetti bolognaise for the kids. As with everywhere else these days, it’s a bit expensive. €22 for large wings and €18 for nachos is OTT considering the cost to buy the ingredients for those 2 dishes. Another negative is portion size for kids. We had a 2 year old and a 1 year old and the spag bol portions that came out were absolutely massive. They were what I’d consider big adult portions. I understand wanting customers to feel they’re getting good value but there comes a point where large amounts of food are wasted. We would have no issue with a friendly “one portion will definitely do” or even just being two smaller portions. We didn’t mind paying. Waitress should have realised a portion and a half would be thrown out

Excellent experience and ideal venue for pre wedding drinks in The Cottage.

Our son and daughter in law held pre wedding drinks for all of their guests in The Cottage, a separate room just off the bar/bistro, the night before their wedding. It was absolutely perfect, the staff that looked after us were excellent, extremely attentive and professional. Everyone had a great evening at the venue, the Cottage was ideal in keeping all the group together. Some of the wedding guests also had a meal earlier that evening in the bar/bistro and all said that the food was wonderful. The location was ideal, very central and just a seven minute walk from the hotel where most of the wedding guests were staying. It was an absolute pleasure to deal with Orla who was at all times friendly and efficient, making the whole experience seem-less from beginning to end. We very much look forward to returning at some stage to dine in the restaurant.

Very Disappointing experience

Very dissatisfied with experience, service exceptionally poor there seemed to be no coordination with who was managing each table,had to ask to get the table cleaned took over an hour from ordering our meal to it being served and then it came out at different times, by the time the last meal was served the rest of the table had already finished their meal. Complementary vegetables were served when everyone was finished their meal and what we saw was burnt so we no choice but to decline it and send it back. Food was 5/10 , seafood tasteless, player came out swimming in a sauce that had split , ordered chilli tacos , tacos served with no beef chilly. Ordered 2 sides of chips , only one order delivered to the table, when they came to the table were only half cooked and cold The restaurant wasn’t busy so would avoid if busy. Very disappointed with whole experience will avoid in the future

Very disappointing experience. There were no vegan starters, but the chefs were able to create a vegan salad for me thankfully. This was fine, but a little too heavy on the dressing. I then ordered the single vegan option on the menu and specifically requested a larger portion, which no restaurant has ever been unable to accommodate before. I received 11 pieces of pasta drowning in oil as my meal. The pasta then turned out to be only semi cooked and partially still hard. The wait times were so long (40-50min +) that I ate what I could and quickly left to get to McDonald's before it closed. Had I not have been so hungry, I'd have stayed and refused to pay the outrageous price of €29 that they had charged me for the main course, and to be honest, I'm slightly annoyed that a family member covered the cost for me. I felt disregarded and disrespected as a customer - it ruined an important family experience for me and will not be returning again.

Restaurant coach lane is a nice little place we spotted on TikTok and thought we would visit when on our travels around Sligo and surrounding areas. We enjoyed the lay out of the place and looked very nice to eat and family friendly but I do have to say that the food looked amazing on the menu compared to what I received. The chicken Parmesan is what I ordered and honestly couldn’t finish it as it was filled with too much sauce and was under cooked as the batter of the chicken got very sicking to eat. The bruschetta was very nice and portion size was great, also the chocolate fudge cake was lovely but the main course really let it the experience of coach lane down in my opinion. The staff are very friendly.

Disappointed!

Despite the other reviews left we were very disappointed with our food which we had in the bar area downstairs. I had to send my burger back as it was pink in the middle and had the texture of raw burger. A waiter tried to say it was cooked but I explained it was not warm in the center. With this reason it was swapped for the Chicken quesadillas. These were palatable but absolutely nothing to write home about! By the time they arrived my husband had eaten his meal. There was no further acknowledgement of the dinner being well below par.

I have been to Donaghys for bar food a few times recently , which has always been very good, but I have not been to the restaurant for some time. I rectified that last weekend and I was delighted to find that their high standards have been maintained. White linen tablecloth and napkins and fresh flowers on the table. Service was very good all evening. But the main thing was that the food is still excellent. I started with the chowder which had a good variety of fish. I then had the sea trout which was served with mussels and large juicy prawns with a tasty sauce. My wife had the goats cheese and duck salad followed by 2 breasts of corn fed chicken accompanied by a nice mixture of mushrooms, chorizo, tomatoes & shallots. Both mains came with a nice selection of potatoes and vegetables. We finished with a shared tiramisu and 2 coffees. Total bill including 2 glasses of wine and a beer came to €150 approx. If you want a really nice meal in Sligo this is the place to go to.

Overpriced and very average food

The service was excellent but the food was mediocre. This was an excellent restaurant many years ago and we were looking forward to revisiting. For the prices they charge the food should be top notch but unfortunately it fell well short of that. The overpriced bottle of wine was the only bit of the meal we enjoyed. Sorry but I could not recommend going to the restaurant for dinner. The bar area looked busy so perhaps the pub grub is better and hopefully not as expensive as dinner menu.

Superb pieces of meat! Succulents I 1000% recommend, quite expensive but super plentiful, worth the detour!! Smiling and patient waitress to explain the dishes to us calmly in English!! The starter was too much, the dishes were so generous we couldn't finish them despite having a very big appetite.

I ate in the bar area with a couple of friends after reading the great reviews here. Sadly, the food was mediocre, 2 of us had steak, my friends was bloody after requesting well done, sent it back, and came out still very pink. But mine was cooked medium as requested. It was accompanied with chips (not homemade) onion rings that resembled donoughts and were doughy, and a large (un-necessaty) side salad. The 3rd person in the group had a pasta dish, she ate what she thought was a piece of mushroom, but it was a whole clove of garlic! Didn't have desert as mains were mediocre at best. I would like to say though, the waitress that served our food was so lovely. I appreciate it was 'bar' food and not the restaurant, but you'd still expect a decent level of quality. Shame to be honest

We went to coach lane restaurant on Saturday 4th February. What a great night. From the time we walked in to getting our table upstairs, with white tablecloth pressed to perfection. The menu is simple but allows for everyone’s tastes. We were shown where they age the beef but it was for fish I came and boy was it delicious. I started with a prawn cocktail yummy and then I had warm seafood platter. Potatoes and veg served on the side. I couldn’t finish it there was so much. For me, I was unable for a desert but a couple had tapas of desert and they were fab . Now some would say it was very expensive but I look on it as what you pay for, was it worth it? And the answer was most certainly YES. I recently eat in Maynooth and while the meal there was good it was overpriced so I know the difference. The price was what I would pay for the whole meal, including the staff who were very friendly and helpful but not in your face. The setting and the smile I came away with for the rest of the weekend was well worth it and reasonable. Can’t wait for another trip! Believe me if you are in Sligo make sure you book it you won’t be disappointed. They seem to do bar food as well. Thanks to all for great night. Noranne

Highly Overrated

We ate in Coachlane the Sunday night of the February Bank Holiday. We had heard good reports about the tomahawk steak sharing plate and so were excited to try it. On arrival our server was very friendly and helpful. To start I had crab stuffed mushrooms, not a good dish, it felt like a packet hors d'oeurvres even though it was,nt..just very underwhelming. If it was fresh crab i couldnt tell with the way it was prepared. The tomahawk came on a lump of mash, with giant slightly greasy onion rings, and soggy chips. The steak was cooked as ordered and was good, my partner enjoyed most of that. We did not go for dessert or coffee. To be honest it was very very expensive. The wine list was very poor. The restaurant itself is dated. Overall without dessert or coffee our meal was €20 more expensive than a 3 course meal with pre dinner drinks, wine and liqeur coffees we had the previous night at another establishment in Sligo. We would not eat here again.

Very enjoyable meal

Lovely meal. Four family members had dinner. We ate in the bar having booked. The restaurant was very busy on an early Saturday evening. The portions are very large so keep that in mind when ordering. We had starters, bruschetta and garlic bread. We then had the best burger ever (!) which was as listed according to the meat eater among us. We could order from the a la carte and did so . All our mains were lovely and we brought some home! We were greeted when we came in and the lady in charge visited our table a few times checking that all was well , a really nice touch. There was a happy vibe in the restaurant and we will definitely book again when visiting Sligo.

Outstanding Food & Service !!

From the moment you enter Coach Lane you know you're in for a treat. The bar area booths were full of happy looking customers tucking into food and drinks. The aroma of fine food is amazing. We had a large group and were brought to the loft area where the service was simply outstanding!! The menu is class and caters for all...Steak & Seafood....unbelievable & delicious !!! Top Class and highly recommended!!! Looking forward to return trip already !!!
