Always a pleasure to visit Lyons Cafe in Sligo - The Food - The atmosphere and the staff are always amazing - Never a bad experience, I would highly recommend a visit if you're looking for Tasty food and a Warm friendly welcome. Mostly young staff there and you can tell that they all enjoy their job and they have a great way with the customers. Looking forward to my next visit!

Delicious options - visited for lunch whilst coming to Sligo for a wedding. Loved the bustle! It was heaving so definitely not somewhere you might want to go for a quiet brunch but the food was delicious. I had the cod with a salad - my husband had chicken with a salad - cost €36 all options sandwiches, wraps and hot food looked delicious. Would definitely recommend!

Definitely a 5 star! Thank goodness for locals, Mel & Geraldine, who we happened upon and asked for recommendations. Even the baking smells outside will entice you in to this delightful bakery and cafe. Barista and baked goods can be purchased downstairs but do make time to go upstairs, above the Lyon's store to enjoy the large and airy cafe for breakfast and lunch. The meals are done cafeteria style, pick up a tray and pick from the wonderful, fresh baked goods, freshest healthy salads, hot breakfast or lunch. Delicious!

Sadly had a bad experience here on a Saturday morning. Was excited to see a menu board detailing what looked like a great veggie breakfast. So we went to try it at the first opportunity. As I was not familiar with ordering breakfast here I asked a young lady behind the counter how to go about it. She was borderline rude and dismissive and walked off. I could see she was busy when I asked but all I wanted to know was were we in the correct section. She pretty much made a face and rolled her eyes. Feeling upset by this but not wanting to upset the breakfast plans of my companion I decided to order just one breakfast for them and not 2 for us both as planned and not any drinks either. I was very glad about this as it turned out. The 2 other staff members we encountered after that were very kind and attentive, however the original server again made a face at me as I was ordering behind the lady who was taking my order. I was being polite and have no idea why she was doing this. When the breakfast arrived it was a bit shocking. The lentils in the lentil rissoles were only partly cooked. There were uncooked red lentils throughout mixed in with the cooked ones. The potato in the hash brown was raw, and it was also not warm and was very greasy. I am a vegetarian chef and also trained in the highest levels of HACCP and with the Food Hygiene Partnership. I did not find it acceptable at all to be served uncooked and not hot food. As it is vegetarian is is in the low risk category but it is still unacceptable. Food safety aside there are risks in terms of digestibility and digestive distress. We actually ended up going straight to somewhere else in Sligo where we had a very happy breakfast, coffee and hot chocolate with no problems, polite staff and professionally cooked food. I suggest Lyons reviews how their chefs are cooking these items and give extra training to the young lady who was serving on Saturday morning. We wont be back sadly but will continue to be a customer of the bakery downstairs which is always excellent.

I have eaten in a great many places but this café provides the best lunch I know, in Sligo or anywhere else. Supported by its own bakehouse, it has fantastic breads, desserts, salads, sandwiches (the Merc & Lebanese chicken are particular delights) whilst the hot meals are just unbelievable & change every day. This place is a gem - Gary Stafford is an amazing chef, supported by a great team. The constant hum & buzz are just markers of v satisfied customers who keep coming back for more.

What a place serving fantastic fresh food and friendly staff. They have two cookbooks of their own and the star of the show Gary works there also. He isn't one to hide in an office all day,he leads the charge from morning until close. Many headchefs/managers could take a leaf out of his book. Many of his staff have been with him for years and this shows his and their dedication to the job. Can't wait to go back for the legendary breakfast that I've heard so much about. Until the next time I'm still stuffed for now..

This is about our9th time coming to Lyons and we've always left feeling the kind of happy you only get when you've enjoyed hearty food prepared by people who care about their craft. Stafford and his team know their craft. Their food celebrates the local (ingredients and talent) and the international (recipes and talent) -you will always get the best of both no matter what you order. The prices mean that phenomenal-quality food is affordable and the helpings are generous so don't plan anything big for dinner, lol. Do yourself a favour, call in and see what's on offer. You won't regret it.

Our B and B host suggested that we eat here as Lyons is our family name.It is a lovely spot and it seems as if it’s a favorite for the locals. The lunch choices were quite interesting. Rave review for my pulled pork sandwich with chili slaw. The young staff was very kind as she explained the ingredients and how to order. I don’t eat meat a lot but have always liked pulled port. This sandwich was extraordinary with the meat cooked to perfection and the chill slaw giving a flavor that I’ve never had in a slaw. Truly this was the best pulled pork sandwich that I have ever had! While all of the staff were very courteous and helpful thid particular woman answered my question about shopping and I was successful in getting what I needed with her assistance. Al in all a fantastic experience!

Was catching up with a few dear friends today and we decided to head into Lyons cafe. We were greeted by the friendly staff and promptly given a table. The young man who was serving us was very handsome and friendly and took our order with a great smile. We were very pleased with our coffees, and when the breakfast brioche I began writing this review because I knew it was going to be immaculate. 10/10 head in for breakfast lunch or dinner you will not be disappointed.

Between the seven of us, we ate everything in the place. Need stoganoff, Lebanese chicken, curry, the cherry bake well with ice cream, sausage roll, sourdough toast, croissants, all the veg. Everything was gorgeous. (That’s Irish for “Amazing”). The chef was extremely accommodating to my personal dietary schtick. If you are hungry and find yourself in Sligo, please go here.

Visited this cafe every morning while staying in Sligo, it’s down to earth with very friendly service, good coffee & an excellent range of plant mylks. I eat a plant based diet & it can be really difficult to find a good meal while travelling, I tend to live on dry toast, potato chips & salad without dressing, it can be pretty boring, however, the staff & chef at Lyons were excellent & made me an incredible breakfast with no drama or fuss. They do have a fantastic selection on the menu & have a vegetarian choice but finding food that suits a straight up plant based diet is tricky & honestly, after growing up on farms etc I can feel like a bit of a numpty asking for a specific thing that is clearly not on the menu, service staff have enough to do without catering to whimsical requests based on personal ethical decisions, so I really feel for staff when a person comes in & wants something not listed on the menu especially when they are super busy but they were absolutely cool about it. My partner isn’t so fussy & had the ‘Big Irish Breakfast’ which he loved, we will come back to this cafe when we next visit Sligo, it’s perfect & has an amazing lunch menu as well. The chef is a talented, creative guy & his salads are epic.

Came across Lyons Cafe by chance, driving through Sligo en route to somewhere else. I eat a gluten-free diet, and always arrive at new places to eat lacking enthusiasm for what might be on offer for me. I was blown away by the quality of the food, and the gluten-free options. I plumped for roast ham with salads along with THE best gluten-free bread I have ever tasted. Food great. Staff friendly and incredibly helpful. Five stars!

What a wonderful place to eat and interact with locals. We had the lunch meal which included a main dish (we had the meat flaky pie) which included a side of scallop potatoes, mashed potatoes, green beans and mixed vegetables and we got dessert and tea and coffee. The service was great.

We are just home from a day trip to Sligo which we really enjoyed, as always. The sun was shining and the town was a hive of activity. Wherever we went we were greeted by smiling helpful staff, all ready for a chat. For lunch we decided on Lyons Café, we were not disappointed. The front of house staff greeted everyone who came in, explaining there may be a few minutes wait, cheerfully guiding the proceedings with Covid regulations down to a fine art. The salad bar was the first thing I spotted, an array of colour and a range of dishes to suit everyone’s taste and palate. We quickly settled on the quiche salad. It was truly delicious. I love salads and I can safely say this was the nicest salad I have eaten. If you like beetroot, you will love the roast beet salad. It was so nice I asked the young gentleman who had looked after us from the moment we arrived as to what the dressing was. Within seconds the Chef and owner Gary Stafford was listing the ingredients. When dessert, a lovely Black cherry Bakewell and tea arrived so did Gary’s book to browse through. There are so many beautiful recipes not just in print but in abundance to choose from in the café. The staff are all fantastic, the atmosphere is relaxed and upbeat. We’re already looking forward to our next lunch in Lyons. Thank you!!

Brilliant, fresh food with great variety.... Caters for the more traditional customer as well as the more adventurous.. Sandwich bar makes to order and the scones and home made! The dinner and desert options are carvery which means you can have as much or as little as you want. Really accommodating with staff who are incredibly helpful. Can be very very busy at peak times so for a really relaxing experience, I recommend avoiding peak. I eat here regularly and will continue to do so.
