We arrived and were told there could be a 30minute wait for a table anywhere so we got a drink in the lovely traditional pub. Despite being under a lot of pressure in the Saturday august sun the host ensured that we were next in the list for a table and promptly got us and brought us to an excellent table beside the sea. The waitress was excellent and has a great eye for detail; fresh water, offering drinks, recommendations on the menu so thank you for looking after us. 5 people on 2 courses plus drinks came in at 128 euro which is very reasonable (up your prices because the people will pay!) Great atmosphere and vibe, tasty hot food and cold pints was a real highlight of our trip to rosses point. We will certainly return!

The pizza crust reminded me of supermarket crusts, so my real rating would be more like 4.6, but the choice of toppings was great (e.g. goat's cheese & prawns!) Both the sunny seafront patio where we sat and also an indoor area were dog friendly, so there was a lovely vibe of canines and their fans, and the sweet waitresses brought out a bowl of water for my dogs. The side salad was simple, fresh, and tasty. The staff were busy on a Sunday afternoon, but it seemed like everyone was well taken care of.

Went for a visit to Rosses Point with the family including 2 labradors. Stopped off in Austies for a bite to eat and a pint of the black stuff. The staff were fantastic, so welcoming and couldn’t do enough for you. Happy to have the 2 dogs in the bar and were happy to provide a dog bowl for water. The food was outstanding. The seafood chowder was spectacular as was the Guinness bread, open steak sandwich and fish and chips went down extremely well by the rest of the family. And the Guinness… oh the Guinness, what a delicious pint. If you’re in the area, definitely pop in. You won’t be disappointed!

As we entered the establishment we were met with what I could tell as being somewhat confused and very unsure members of staff on what to do when diners arrive at their door as multiple waitresses pass us at the front door for several minutes without greeting us or wanting to bring us to our table at what was a rather not very busy period at the restaurant. Eventually we were directed to our table that was presented and felt like eating at a kitchen table. Now I understand it is maybe a rustic type of decorative choice but it felt very random and selective as other tables surrounding us were very nicely decorated with much more modern and equipped tables. The menus felt rather cheap as well by just being a piece of paper that was a bit flimsy. I ordered the fish and chips. Which I can compliment the chips on for having a good amount as well as being well cooked and salted and well tasting. A thought the fish was much darker than usual fish as well as being mushy inside rather than fresh fish normally displaying a flakey like appearance when cut into. This led me to believe that the fish was precooked or recooked for the meal which is why it was darker and mushy which for the price of which we paid was very disappointing and overpriced. I don’t believe I will be bringing my business here again

Absolutely terrible experience would never go through the door again. It was our first time in Rosses point and we didnt realise we would have to book a table. On enquiring would it be possible to book a table or could we eat quickly outside I was directed to the front desk to enquire. I asked a waitress could we eat in outside area she went of,f to ask the chef. I stood there for at least 10 minutes and she walked past me several times without even acknowledgement or an update. So I enquired again to lady behind the desk who barked...they other lady is looking after you so Ill leave with her....fine I though so stood there for another 5 minutes....eventually fed up with my 6 year old Autistic son kicking up outside, I said to the girl behind desk the other lady seemed to have forgotten me as original girl kept looking at me ignoring me....I tod the woman I was going back outside to which she barked....Ill be out in a minute. We sat there for 20 minutes in the cold outside again I would like to reiterate with my 6 year old special needs child where I saw them look out at us several times and continued to ignore us. We left disgusted....staff so rude, clearly feel they are doing you a favour to even speak or acknowledge you....I would avoid at all costs....disgraceful and disgusting customer service.

As a good lover who loves to cook and has vast experience in dining I would not recommend.
Overpriced with greasy food and cheap ingredients (fatty lardons in Caesar salad very distasteful and nearly 15 euro for a small bowl! I have not payed this for a salad in a luxurious hotel-definitely and not the culinary skills one would expect considering the prices so not value for money.
Pushy hostess whom try’s to push more food on you than you request also plates whipped from under you not asking if you are finished so not a very chill experience.
Hardly anyone there uuum I wonder why

Excellent bacon ribs, superb sauce really tasty, very friendly and lovely staff, pizza heavy on cheese and teenager had no complaints, liked it. Husband had turkey and ham and v v tasty, brilliant.
I had prawn linguine at nearly 30 euros. At even 10 it would have been poor tbh.
Lovely prawns and salmon cooked, heavy cream, then scallions, tomatoes all apparently uncookedand linguine over -cooked. No flavour, just stodgy pasta. Like something from 40 years ago tbf. I mean please m .chef, taste it and see. I wouldn't mind but the bill on it and I ate the fish and uncooked veg only cos rest was not nice. Said lime and white wine reduction? Really?? No way, just cream added to fish and uncooked veg. Not an actual recipe or dish. I cook for my family everyday and I could do better which isn't saying much. Pasta sauce should be light and tasteful, not that hard. Sad to feel ripped off at a lovely pub but will probably avoid now. Everything else really good but not hard to learn how to cook pasta.

An cosy and unpretentious restaurant overlooking Oyster Island at Rosses Point. Food, staff and ambience were great. We visited for Sunday lunch, and ordered fish pie (served with carrots and cabbage), garlic prawns, and a few drinks. Very pleasant, particularly after a fabulous walk along the beach.

We are regular visitors to Sligo. About twice a year. Have visited this lovely County and great town for over 50 years regularly. In relatively recent times we have discovered Austie’s. That said it’s about our eight visit. It’s our “go to” special place for a guaranteed lovely meal. The atmosphere is very special and the food is always simply delicious. This time was no exception. We loved it and they made a delightful fuss for us, as one of us had a special occasion.
Thanks a million, Lorna and Joyce, (but all in Austie’s) and we will of course be back as soon as possible.
Thank you.

I normally don't do reviews but really want to mention what a great experience we had at Austies on Saturday night. We had two terrific mains -Prawn linguini and Fish pie and following compliments on our delicious homemade dessert we got an introduction to Laura who had made it. She was so kind and pleasant and when we were leaving presented us with a loaf of her homemade guinness brown bread.

Went to Austies last night with a group of 25 and celebrated a joint birthday with my son and I. We had been here a few times and there was no question of the standard of service and quality of food. All meals were cooked to perfection and the taste of the steak , chicken wings and pizza was indescribable. Our waitress Laura and the rest of staff went above and beyond to accommodate us. We were welcomed very warmly and every detail of the order was noted. The owner came up and welcomed us fully and wishes us a very happy birthday 🎈. It's a very busy spot so would advise to prebook. Absolutely beautiful scenery on a good day overlooking the ocean. , 🌊🌊🏖️

Half way through our drinks and we wanted to order food. I asked a guy at the bar if we could take it away, he said no problem and gave me a menu. Came back to the bar to order and what I assume was the Manager asked if I was OK. I said I wanted to order food to takeaway and she said no, the kitchen was too busy. I said the bar man told me it would be fine (what difference would it make if we sat in and ate, or took it away?). She said she would go and ask the kitchen. Meanwhile people walked in and were seated for food no bother, kitchen wasn't too busy for them? I stood for 10 minutes as she walked past me 4 times, completely ignoring me. Not an acknowledgement or reassurance that she would be right with me, that she hadn't forgot about me. The bar man looked abit embarrassed at her complete disregard for me so when she walked past a 5th time he stopped her and asked if I was able to takeaway or not, she leaned over to me with utter anger and hissed 'Can't you see I am busy?'. I was completely embarrassed, shocked and nearly teared up to be honest. I walked back outside to finish my drink. She returned 5mins later and, with no apology, asked me what I wanted and the kitchen would 'do their best to fast track it'. She was so hostile and rude. I politely declined with a no thank you, it's fine. Never in all my years dining out have I been spoken to like that or made to feel like a nuisance. As a paying customer, I should have been treated with respect no matter how busy or stressed out she was. Unprofessional, rude, and a complete stain on an otherwise friendly and nice establishment.

Visited Austies during the week arrived without a booking with 4 adults and 8 children. Manager explained they were very busy and couldn’t guarantee a table for us. We decided to wait and have a drink in the bar squeezing 8 kids into a booth. Manager came in few minutes later and said she had a table for the kids if we wanted to feed them first, we were delighted as the kids were hungry, thankfully a table beside them became free for us adults. The food was fab and I have to say the staff and manager went above and beyond for us we were absolutely delighted. Couldn’t recommend enough. The hospitality sector is under severe pressure in these times with covid very much at the forefront along with staff shortages, but hats off to the Austies staff they really looked after us. Will be recommending and will definitely revisit when there again

We visited as a family today. We were greeted by a young member of staff as we enquired about eating outside or takeaway - the waitress asked a colleague which seemed to have authority as either an owner or manager who was extremely rude. She complained to us that she has to look after the 40 people already seated, she has only one chef on and she would have no time to cater for us outside or takeaway option. The restaurant appeared to have approx. 15 people inside. There were about 6 outdoor tables available. The reason we wanted to sit outside or get a takeaway was due to a family members disability. We left and explained we would find somewhere else.
This women was a rude individual and would not entice anyone to return with her attitude. We felt like we had inconvenienced her asking for a table or takeway menu - unhelpful and stand-offish. Bad bad business.

A very friendly and personable experience at Austies. They let us eat with our dog in the bar which was much appreciated (apparently this is only possible when the bar and restaurant capacity allows). Good quality food and very generous portions. Would go back!
