About
Walking off Sligo main shopping street into Hargadons is like taking a step back in time, as its delightful and charismatic interior is almost the same as when it first opened. The present building situated at 4 & 5 O’Connell Street, Sligo was built in 1864 by Bernard Collery, a local merchant, who was also a member of Sligo Town Council and a Member of Parliament representing Sligo. The businesses carried on included general grocery and the retail and wholesale of beer, wine and spirits based in the cellars and bonded warehouse at the rear of the building. After Mr. Collery’s death in 1909 the property was acquired by Messrs Patrick & Thomas Hargadon who gave the property its name. Hargadon

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I love visiting this tradition Irish Pub, it feels like we’ve got in a Time Machine & went back to the 1900’s with all its books and cranny’s and cosy fires, this is the place to be if you want to get a taste of...what an Irish pub was like back in the day. The food is always fantastic, with something to suit everyone. Today I went for something different & went for wild mushroom Risotto. Also tried the prawns and my partner had the burger. It’s was delicious! Huge thanks to Martin, their chef. You did not disappoint. The 2 hour drive was worth it!More

A great find. Huge portions of very well prepared food. Atmosphere is fantastic. The drinks superb. For early-birders there was music from late afternoon to around 7 (locals). A fund place. Highly recommend.

My wife and I had read a previous review of this restaurant while searching for one downtown with gluten-free options. The review did not lie! The food was AMAZING! I started with the Seafood Chowder and Brown Irish bread. Both were fantastic! Apparently, the chowder...is made fresh daily, and the bread is baked each night. I followed this with the Truffle Burger, while my gluten-free wife had the Goat Cheese and Fig Salad and an order of Parmesan/Truffle Chips. We finished EVERY bite! In addition to great food, the staff was outstanding, especially Jackie, who took care of our every need in a friendly and helpful way! Highly recommend it!!!More

2 stars because we received a full refund for the food served due to bad quality & flavour, We would not recommend the food here , it was below standard “Frozen party food” quality. Ordered prawns , which came out in a cream sauce &...literally a loaf of bread? flavourless. Bacon cheese fries had very fatty pieces of bacon, and frozen skinny fries with black bits on the end. Chowder was sloppy & not a fresh flavour. Chicken wings came out cold, with a hot sauce!More

Myself and my partner visited here today. We ordered two drinks and two starters, but we did not stay for the main course and desert we had planed to stay for! I ordered soup for my starter and my partner ordered sea food chowder. Both...dishes were Mostly left on the table at our departure. Staff were lovely, but hard to find when needed. I expected more from this place and to be honest I was disappointed.More

My two sons and I visited fairly late one evening after a football match, friendly staff and punters. Good beer, don't know if they serve any food.

Rude Maitre D and poor service. Not somewhere where local Irish people would go - focused on tourist trade. Pricey also - leave to the gullible!

Just happened upon this pub and it didn't disappoint. Staff were very friendly and Guinness was very good. We decided to eat there but didn't have a reservation - didn't realise it was going to be so busy mid week - but the barman managed...to squeeze us in. The food was delicious - far better than we would have expected in a pub. Well worth a visit while in Sligo.More

We hit up this place for a few pre wedding pints. Great ambience and atmosphere, great pints, no rowdy pub goers. Great little snugs too.

Loved sitting in the pub booths - it felt a bit like sitting in an old fashioned train car! The staff were fabulous and the food was good; nothing ground breaking but beautifully fresh, sweet oysters and a LOVELY chees toastie.

Popped in for lunch, both ordered the philly cheesesteaks and were delighted when they arrived out to see that they were basically a proper steak sandwich topped with cheese. Steaks were still pink which we love to see :) Nice cold coronas and good Guinness!
