Had always wanted to try this restaurant so got my chance when back in Sligo recently. I enjoyed the experience immensely. Had the assiette of seafood to start which was very good but there was no spoon for the mussel soup. My main of Grilled Fillet of Irish Beef was a real showstopper . The beef was cooked to perfection and together with potato rosti, red wine jus and spinach was near perfect in every way. Portions were very generous. The one disappointment was the dessert selection. I had the Poached Pear, Cinnamon cake and Chocolate sauce. It was very ordinary and could have been served in any restaurant. I would expect a high end French restaurant to be a bit more creative. Service was dreadfully slow at times and no wonder when there was only two waiters covering the entire restaurant. And it was PACKED! It took ages to get the dessert menu brought to the table and later when I asked for the bill. However I would certainly return but skip dessert next time.

Still the very best in Sligo and certainly in many places of Ireland. A very nice restaurant with the best food, flavour and even the presentation on the plate. A great selection of half bottles of wine, so that we can choose the best wine for either fish or meat. Great champagne by glass. Very good chairs and the very best service! So nice people! ❤️❤️❤️Love this place, coming back every time when visiting my son living in a nearby village.

Just blown away by the quality of food we were served when we visited recently and at very reasonably prices too. You just cannot visit Sligo Town without dining here. The staff are so professional and friendly adding to our overall experience. To be quite honest I don't how they can do it as we dined in a number of other Sligo Pub Restaurants during our stay and found very little overall price differences. Montmartre Restaurant were light years ahead of all the others, in atmosphere, presentation, range on selection. quality and flavour of their dishes. We will be back for sure.

This is a little off the beaten track but well worth seeking out. The food is wonderful but I want to give a special mention to the wine list, which is all French but very keenly priced. The mark-up seems to be much lower than is usual in restaurants.

I honestly cannot recommend this little restaurant highly enough. I'm at a loss as to how it has so few reviews. I think it's possibly because it's a off the beaten path and locals are less likely to review as they don't want to give away it's secret. Incredible value for the early bird menu and the presentation and flavours of the food were incredible. Can't recommend highly enough. Ate there with some family home from Dublin and Australia and everyone was very impressed.

My first time in Montmarte. Have visited Sligo on other occassions but a 'local' introduced me to this restaurant and it was 'first class'. I had duck for the main course...best duck I've had:Melt in the mouth! The staff were very friendly. At our window seat we enjoyed the evening sun filtering through. The decor is restful and chairs very comfortable. Everything very clean including bathroom. I would definately recommend a visit to Montmarte.

Myself and my husband have been watching a lot of cooking shows recently and decided we need to choose more outside the box when it comes to food, life is short so why always choose something you know. With that we found this hidden gem in Sligo, we couldn’t get over how reasonable it was and also what a lovely selection of food they had on their menu. We each choose the 6 tasting starters from the al la carte menu, we found this an amazing way to try an array of different food at such a great price. We couldn’t fault it, everything was so tasty, especially the soup of the day and the salmon gratin. For our mains my husband picked guinea fowl, and I had best lamb, I sampled both dishes and I can honestly say I’ve never tasted anything quite like it. Each mouthful was an experience. Obviously I’ve eaten lamb before but nothing like those We would have loved to try the nice selection of desserts but we litterally couldn’t fit anything else in. The staff were so polite and friendly. It really was such an incredible evening. I’d have no hesitation in returning again or recommending to friends. Everyone be should get to try food like this once in their life. We will be talking about this meal for some time to come.

We didn't expect to find a restaurant of this quality so close to the city centre. It's just out of the centre, a 5 to 10 minute walk uphill from the main street. Plenty of parking spaces available. Every dish looked appetising, so it was difficult to choose. There are set menus mid week as well as a la carte. They are incredibly good value. Standout dishes - the grilled fillet of Irish beef, cooked to perfection, extremely generous portion, no additional charge either, and the white chocolate and coffee bavarois, sublime. The food is cooked fresh to order so there is a wait but definitely worth it. Complimentary bread and water brought to the table. The house wine is very decent and again not overpriced. I liked the way it was just poured from the bottle rather than stingily measured out. Very pleasant, relaxed ambience, and attentive service. If I lived in Sligo this would definitely be my go to restaurant - ideal choice for meeting friends. You could relax knowing the food would be of the highest standard.

We waited nearly two years to come back to this restaurant as we love it so much. It did'nt dissappoint, as usual. We were greeted by the ever professional Matthew, who showed us to our table, gave us our menus and told us about the specials. I went for the special starter which was a duo of seafood with mussels on the side and my wife went for the mussels as a starter (you can also get them as a main course). We also opted for the Kir Royal each. My starter...was wonderful. Full of flavour and substance. Could have had a second helping. My wife, loved her starter as well, two cleared plates between us. Then.....The Mains...... I went for the Pan Seared Hake with Lobster Jus, New Season Potatoes with Yogurt and Lime and my wife went for the Grilled Fillet of Irish Beef with Rosti Potato, Shallots Cream and Black Peppercorn Jus. One word. Sublime. I couldn't finish mine. Believe me, I wanted to, but just couldn't. My wife loved her dish, but again, couldn't finish, but wanted to. Finished off with a glass of Champagne each. We were looked after so well. A fantastic restaurant, fantastic staff and will be back again.

Lovely restaurant. The menu has a really nice selection to choose from and given the quality of the food and cooking the prices are very reasonable. The food was presented beautifully, portion sizes generous and our starters and mains were so delicious - a great balance of flavours. Staff were welcoming, helpful and attentive. The wine list had a good selection of French wines by the glass, half bottle or bottle. This restaurant will be top of my list when I return to Sligo again.

As always the wow factor for fine dining at affordable prices . Hugh menu selection and also specials. Each course was flawless. Relaxed atmosphere and meal not rushed . Real friendly yet professional staff . We ate off a la carte but early bird was excellent value. Speaks for itself as to why this restaurant is so long in Sligo

Our third visit to Sligo and our third visit to Montmartre restaurant. This has become a key part of our holidays. The food and service are just exceptional. My partner said his steak was so good that he wanted another one for dessert. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, they treat everyone like family. We will definitely be back again.

One of the best restaurants in Sligo and in my opinion The best. Food is always fantastic both in taste and presentation. The wine selection is always fantastic and staff are brilliant with knowledge based recommendations. Can’t speak highly enough of this place. Can’t wait for my next visit.

First to arrive for the Early Bird Menu, chose a table by the window. Used to live in France, so my husband and I know French food. The common mistake is that it is a complicated cuisine. Small portions, big on pretence. Whereas real French food is actually more rustic and like Italian food it relies on good quality, fresh ingredients cooked simply and skilfully. Loved our dinner. I chose from the Main Menu. Donegal Mussels starter, then the Special of Salmon (Mousseline) wrapped in Plaice. Bottle of Rose, which was delicious. There is only one Rose on the drinks menu and it is well-chosen. Fragrant with roses then honey, finishing with saltiness. Hubby had Blue Cheese Bavarois - divine. Then Roasted Pork Filet Mignon. All under 80 euro excluding our tip. The service was just enough; attentive but knew when to leave you alone. Excellent evening.

Why did we wait so long to go to this incredible place? My wife and I had an absolutely amazing culinary experience in Montmartre. Everything was perfect from the service to the desert wine. The menu is sensational - we had roast pheasant, and guinea fowl, and they were both sumptious, as were the deserts. The wine list is the best I've seen in a long time and we were wonderfully served by Mathew and his well trained team of staff. I can't wait to go back. A real gem in the West of Ireland. Counting the days for when we return! Merci Montmartre!
