Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Super night as always at The Batch Loaf! Excellent food, top class service and really friendly staff! It’s no wonder it’s our favourite place to eat! Nothing was too much bother… oh and the birthday surprises are always an added bonus! Such a special and...personal touch. Thanks again for a lovely evening.More

Well it was a lovely meal with good service right in the centre of town. Food was good quality and a great choice on the menu from starters to mains. Puddings not so great in choice really. Would recommend for a night out with friends...or as a couple.More

Whilst staying in Monaghan town for business we decided to give this place a try and so glad we did. Not quite fine dining but very nice food. Too many children in the restaurant at a late sitting and a very high level of noise...to be considered anything more than a good restaurant which is a shame as I think this could be so much more. The small “batch loaf” was just perfect. Also the retro Bon bond given at the end as a compliment was pure genius. Nice touch. Will definitely be visiting again.More

A lovely restaurant food fantastic as usual....our waitress Lorraine was great explained everything on the menu....my only issue in the batch loaf was the second waitress on duty...when she was taking the order from the table beside us she pulled up a chair and sat...down between them...when my friend went to the bathroom she came down and sat on her chair and took the dessert order from the table on the other side ofus. Not a biggy but an extremely unprofessional habit that lady has...More

One of the best restaurant experiences I’ve had in Ireland, and probably the best customer service anywhere I’ve received. The Batch Loaf is so homely inside, we had the half batch to start with homemade pesto, and the Potted Crab - both delicious!! For mains...we had the monkfish and prawn risotto and Duck which were amazing, the dauphinoise potatoes on the side were as good as I’ve had anywhere and the mushroom onion mix was a perfect side for the duck. The range of wines was really impressive, we had a Malbec. The highlight of the night came when we got to dessert stage - we had mentioned on the reservation it was our anniversary - we didn’t even order dessert and they arrived out with ice cream candle and a customised plate designed in house by the staff! When we went to pay they gave us the plate to bring home, such a nice touch and small things really do matter. The staff are all so friendly and genuinely care about how your experience was. Batch Loaf is well worth the money, we travelled one hour to visit and we’ll be back for sure. The Poc Fada pub downstairs is also really nice for a drink before and after!More

This is a fantastic bar and restaurant in Monaghan town. Attention to detail is incredible. The decor is mind boggling as i have not seen anything like it yet. The food is incredible. I had the batch loaf with dips to start and then the...Prawns and crispy cod salad. A very generous portion indeed. Even the cutlery, delph and drinks glasses , has been chosen with lots of thought...It was my birthday so i came away with a lovely hand painted plate with Happy Birthday, which was a lovely idea and very much appreciated. The owners Paul and Cathy are the best hosts for a great night out. Well worth a visit..More

I had the greatest pleasure to eat at this restaurant this weekend ! It truly was a 5 star experience. I’m not one bit surprised it has won so many awards- if I was able to give them another one I would. The building itself...is amazing. And every room and staircase as you went upstairs to the restaurant at was better than the one before ! The staff are really friendly efficient and helpful but more importantly our food - starters main courses and desserts - were excellent. A beautiful menu includes meat fish and chicken and every dish was presented master chef style. You really shouldn’t leave Monaghan without eating there. You’ll be glad you did. If there were 6 stars I’d give them 🌺More

If you like good food this is a must visit. The batch loaf starter is a must - freshly baked warm bread with real butter, home made pesto and Mexican sauce. Potted crab was divine! Marinated chicken was fabulous - the curry sauce was unreal....Highly recommended. Staff are amazing, so friendly.More
