Monaghan town's longest established family run restaurant (1983). Sean cooks the food, Aisling runs the restaurant (makes the most superb desserts) and downstairs Kevin is famous for his Gin collection! Renowned for our 30 day dry aged beef aged and butchered in-house by Sean. House specialties include Garlic Mushrooms and Chicken Monaghan. 101 premium gins from around the world in stock! Kevin's gins have featured in the Sun newspaper, Daily Mail and the Sunday World. Andy's - the largest seller of non-alcoholic gin in Ireland, according to Richmond Marketing. We have a private dining room that can accommodate up to twenty people for private functions.

I was intending to visit Andy's (formerly Teach Aindí, Andy's House in Gaeilge) for a few years, ever since I stepped in to have a quick look. Obviously, the pandemic means that my original intention to dine there had to be postponed for a few years. Until I visited this past weekend with my son on the way back from Tyrone. We were not disappointed. He ordered a burger, and I ordered chicken in a white-wine creamy sauce. Both were excellent in every respect. This was not simple pub food you can find elsewhere, everything in the menu was distinctive, had character, a little twist that made it unique. I highly recommend the Monaghan sauce, and the sautéed potatoes I had with my meal were, undoubtedly, the best I have ever had. Everything was simply delicious, tasty, complex and yet, down to earth. The portions were very generous too.
There was a good selection of Monaghan craft beers, Brehon, which gave the meal an authentic flavour. The atmosphere was very cozy and the decoration in the pub is exquisite. Service was friendly and kind; Kevin, the manager, is a true gentleman, welcoming, well-mannered and with savoir faire. The only average thing about Andy's were the prices, which, if you take into account the equation quality vs. price, makes eating at Andy's a very convenient treat.
Altogether, it was a most enjoyable experience, and most certainly, I will be going back to Monaghan to dine again, on my own or with the family.

On a staycation in Monaghan and we booked our restaurants for evening meals weeks in advance because of Covid regulations which removes the spontaneity of just popping in to restaurants.
Dinner in Andys was absolutely perfect. We had starters, mains and desserts!
Our tenderloin steaks were perfectly, as requested, and the staff were so nice.
This restaurant isn’t that big and is a total gem in the heart of Monaghan town. Add it to your bucket list!

Great to see Andy's restaurant open again.Had family meal with five of us. Staff so friendly and helpful. Steaks were done to perfection and that Monaghan sauce is to die for!!
Chicken and Fish dishes went down a treat.Wonderful Bailey's cheesecake and the Irish Coffee was a great way to finish off a very very enjoyable meal. Thank you Kevin Aisling and all the staff. Social distancing adhered to and a one way system in place. Great food thank you.
Definitely recommend this place. Booking required at present.

We went for a late Sunday lunch as my parents had read reviews and thought this was a chef led gastropub with good food.
What we found was a menu of chicken in gloopy sauces, battered fish clearly straight from a freezer, burgers or very expensive steaks.
Food tasted artificial ie from a catering pack or greasy or both. The pub itself has a nice ambiance, friendly staff and an interesting gin selection. But I would not go for the food and would prefer to eat in places where a chef has actually cooked food and it is not a version of bad fast food at high prices .

My apologies for my late response - it was just by chance and boredom that I checked my Tripadvisor account. You see Una, nobody uses it anymore, it was popular about ten years ago, but things have moved on and on. This is not a nasty or smart point of view - its a simple truth. In 2021 I received total of six reviews in the entire year - so why would I waste my time checking! People simply lost faith in it, they don't write reviews, (only read the bad ones) and in many cases don't believe what's written! As you have dedicated a considerable amount of time writing hundreds of reviews and collected numerous badges and medals along the way, I felt you deserved a reply - for once. It must be frustrating that no restaurant owners could be bothered to replying to such an experience diner as yourself. I for one have listen to your comments and opinions. Anyway, I'd better move on to your experience with us here in Andy's. On the day of your visit, its interesting to note that you didn't have as much to say when you met me face to face at the counter. That leads me nicely into your review. I can fully understand that you did not like the sauces, that's a personal choice which I fully accept. So now to the other points that you made. We only use fresh fish - Cod or Hake. We use beer form the local craft brewery, The Brehon Brew House to make the beer batter. Andy's is the only restaurant in the region to dry age and butcher beef in house. Beef is released after 30 days. This premium product, which commands a premium price, those customers familiar with this product would expect a certain price. The burgers are homemade in house and we mince our own beef to ensure quality. But hey Una, you have just given me a great idea to pop up a few new photos of our beautiful aged beef and our homemade burgers been made, and our fresh fish in beef batter and homemade tartar sauce - nobody would believe that we go to these lengths to make these products as good as your fellow reviewers on Tripadvisor say they are. I would never put a customer down - a customer badly treated will put a business down and out of business. But Una in your case - maybe could I respectfully suggest a gentle lowering. You have clearly done a good enough job at discrediting yourself. As the old saying goes a picture says a thousand words! I hope you enjoy the photographs - they are certainly guaranteed to bring me extra business! Sure lets face it Una, a wee bit of help and inspiration from you in the second year of a global pandemic is very much appreciated.

Ordered the vegetarian stir fry. The waiter brought it down and it was a bowl of vegetables. I asked did it come with noodles and the waiter said yes I believe it does and I said my dish doesn’t have any noodles. The waiter said they would go and check. Waited and waited, my food was getting cold so I called another waiter over and said I was waiting on my noodles, they said yes your noodles are being put on. Not sure how the noodles were forgot about in a stir fry. So while the other two guest ate their food I had to wait until the noodles arrived in a bowl, very bland and not mixed in with any vegetables or sauce. Very disappointing. Another chicken dish was covered in so much sauce the breadcrumbs of the chicken were soggy and the sauce was so over powering that my mum couldn’t eat it.

Had a family meal here last minute on a busy Saturday night no reservation and was no problem. Was offered a drink and seat at the bar while we waited for a table Food was amazing had the house special which was gorgeous and everyone else’s food was equally as good! Outstanding service special mention to Shannen who was so bubbly and informative even though the bar was so busy didn’t feel rushed. Will 100% be back and will recommend to anyone looking for food in Monaghan

We had a takeaway from Andys on Saturday last and it was fab!! Better than any takeaway. Portions were a great size and piping hot. They had a Great weekend offer for 2 at €30 & as good as if you were in a restaurant. Well Done for great service in difficult times.

Well located/easy to find in the town centre. Comfortable/cosy decor. My daughter (who has special needs) and I were made so welcome this was pure pleasure. The food was delicious, well presented and excellent value. They have an excellent selection of quality gins and whisky if you want to try some. I strongly recommend the award winning rhubarb gin it is exquisite. (I bought a bottle to take home as a treat).We will go again if we are in Monaghan as there was plenty to choose from and I doubt it could be bettered.

First trip out for mid week dinner after lock down restrictions were lifted and Andys was such a treat. Lovely warm welcome from Kevin. Had a Fabulous meal and the gin was amazing. Can't wait to return.

Went there with the family tues may 30th . It was was partner’s birthday and wanted somewhere original. We truly recommend Andys the atmosphere service and staff were very warm and welcoming. . The food was excellent and cooked just right . The kids finished their plates which was unusual. We would also recommend the in house whiskey and gin . Very pleasant drinks . We would definitely go back when in the area. If you looking for a great place and service to eat in Monaghan Andys is the place

Found ourselves here on a midweek evening, when there was not a great choice of establishments. We were pleasantly surprised by Andy's. Friendly greeting and service, relaxed atmosphere, food was of conspicuously good quality. I would be happy to return.

Just came upon this little spot by chance whilst walking ⁸ monaghan. Got a table no problem. When in Rome as they say we both had steaks in the steakhouse. Cooked to perfection and very tender. Will be on my hit list when I return to monaghan again

Fantastic experience from start to finish. Welcoming staff, good food portions were large for us. Two young children in our group and they were catered for wonderfully. Made to feel special. The staff were great , just the right balance between. Heartily recommend.

My wife and myself had a truly wonderful meal there one evening. The food was excellent, the service was top-notch. Of particular note was the Rhubarb Gin we had that evening. The proprietor and his daughter were charming.
