Quality food at a good price, we walked in without a reservation and were immediately impressed by the professional staff. There was a great choice of food, I had hake which was excellent. Nice extras were brought between courses “on the house “ and a drink at the end of our meal. All our meals were great in Westport but I think Sage was the best.

Wonderful seafood platter, 5 smoked fish and calamari and tempura prawn with an oyster. Smashing veggie tart with tomato and cheese.
Highlight was an anarchic lamb mousaka served as a stack, lamb pulled and in a patty style on the bottom , aubergine and bechamel in a bomb in the middle and homecut potato wafers on top. Delicious and a wonderful outtake of the more traditional lasagna style.
Bulgarian Malbec Cabernet was a great match.
The menu is varied and very very good value, you’ll have a hard job to match this level of cuisine with the cost.
Personnel were engaged, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. 10/10.
We’ll be back 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Excellent meal. So good .
Wonderful fresh fish. Early bird and lots of Daily Specials as well as a well chosen menu.
We loved the sorbet offered between courses and the liqueur at the end of the meal enjoyed with Bulgarian Baklava
Wonderful Bulgarian and Slovenian wines on offer
Great service and value for money
Ensure you make a booking. Sage was busy on a quiet Wednesday evening
We will be returning

Myself and my friends have been here a good few times but unfortunately on this occasion we were very disappointed. The appetiser which was bread, olives, butter etc was not great bread cold and didn't seem that fresh. Ordered scallops as a starter it arrived with one scallop and for the price of €15 you would expect at least 3... which used to be the case when we were there before. Seems to be a lot of cut backs even the petit fours weren't great and seemed not much effort had been put into them only one flavor where there used to be 4. The prices are definitely higher and the amount of food is significantly less. We all thought it wasn't the same experience as previous visits and I don't think we will be returning.

We returned to Sage last night after eating there once before when we visited Westport a couple of years ago. Unfortunately I will not be returning again.
Our experience started off well enough but deteriorated as our meal went on.
We were looked after initially by a male waiter who seemed friendly and served us water and a pre dinner drink.
Our bottle of Merlot was very cold and had been stored outside which was disappointing as we were looking forward to it on a cold night.
We shared the starter special of a seafood plate which was fine but only that.
Mains were Beef Cheek and Cod. My partners beef was good. My fish was cooked well but the whole dish was over flavoured with lemon.
We were given Desert menus and then the night went down hill rapidly.
Both our deserts were terrible. I chose the special which was orange roulade. It was a piece of cold, hard sponge cake with a piece of frozen filling in the middle, I couldn't eat it. My husbands was worse. It was a hard meringue shell covered in a layer of jam and a few nuts on top, hard to believe it was served to us in a restaurant of any standard.
We left our deserts on the plates in front of us where they sat for 40mins while the 3 staff members ignored our table completely, looking after a larger table who had arrived and other tables around us. We had no offer of coffee, a drink or even water.
We finally called over a member of staff and explained our deserts were terrible. They were taken away and our complimentary shot which everyone received while paying the bill was put in front of us and our waitress snapped that we wouldn't be charged for the deserts, there was no apology or interest in why we were unhappy.
We asked for our bill and our original waiter came down with it. He was beyond rude and was actually quite confrontational, stating that we hadn't been charged for the deserts but once again no apology for the bad food and even worse service. As my husband was explaining why we were annoyed the waiter turned his back on him and walked away, I have never experience such behaviour in a restaurant before. What a terrible way to treat people who had just spent €120 on a very average meal.
I won't be returning

We made a late booking on a Friday night because we had just arrived in Westport for a weekend visit. We found Sage through on-line reviews - and weren't at all disappointed. The food and service were better than first class. my wife had the baked, stuffed cod and I had the lamb roulade. Both dishes were absolutely delicious. The cod was cooked perfectly and the lamb was amazing. It was pulled lamb with a delicious herb flavor/marinade rolled and baked in an aubergine and pastry crust. It was then served with a bechamel sauce. It was like a novel twist on one of my favorite Mediterranean dishes - Moussaka. The accompanying vegetable plate was also great - fresh and crispy "hot-raw" vegetables and perfectly roast, golden potatoes. We were tempted into sharing a rum baba served with a fruit sorbet and glad we gave in to temptation. The whole meal was finished off with a complimentary glass of schnapps and a small plate of sweets. Service was superb, friendly and attentive. Overall a five-star gourmet experience.

Fantastic meal, lovely friendly service. Took advantage of the early bird menu options (2 course for €32) - there is a three course option as well for €37. Even though it is a shortened menu compared to their extensive al la carte menu there was enough variety of meat, and fish dishes and vegetarian option to choose from for mains. My wife said it was her favourite main meal of our week in Mayo (high praise given the excellent quality of food we had in other restaurants around Mayo). Even though it was the early bird period - the restaurant was soon very busy and people turning up who had not booked were being turned away. So you need to book in advance to guarantee a table, and avoid disappointment. We had a main and a desert, plus my wife had a cocktail and a glass of lovely Bulgarian wine. I had a local craft beer, plus a glass of the same wine, and I also paid a supplement of €3 for a "special" dessert which all totalled to €98.50. All the staff were very polite and friendly. Highly recommend Sage Restaurant and will certainly return when back in the area again, hopefully next year. Lucky locals!

As my wife and i had such a lovely mat Sage for our annversay last year when visiting Westport, we made sure we booked well in advance for a meal for our next visit to Westport as part of our trip to Western Island. We were not disappointed. Just brilliant. We shared a "Special" starter of a medley of cold fish , and both had the "Special" Main of the day -Duck then shared a dessert (cheesecake). With a cocktail for my wife, and a wiskey for me and both had a glass of Malbec came to €121.50. We also were given free bread with a dip, sorbet between the starter and main courses to cleanes the palate, and a compliementary liquiour at the end of the meal. You need to book in advance, as both times we have been there mid week appeared to be fully booked.

We entered the restaurant and were seated by a lady who told us the specials.
( I believe she may have been the owner )
We were given the menus and we looked through them….. I’m allergic to shellfish so that narrowed my choices straight off, as I didn’t want green salad or goats cheese.
I opted for soup, which was below average, it resembled something out of a baby’s nappy ( also the thick Luke warm globular consistency )the taste wasn’t much better than the look tbh.
We had been given a plate with a piece of butter the size of a 10pence piece. The bread selection consisted of 2 and a half thumb sized pieces of white bread and a 2x2 inch slice of brown wheaten type bread to share… yippee
When ordering I did notice on the vegetarian menu that they served Gnocchi as a main, so I asked the male waiter if there was any chance of having a half portion as a starter, he said he would ask and came back to tell me no!! Why - I can’t understand??
I then ordered the soup followed by gnocchi.
The meal was mediocre.
The service from the male server was pleasant, but the owner seemed to be full of her own self importance.
My husband had scallops for his starter, but it was a matter of finding the scallop, when he finally found a scallop, just one, it was seemingly lovely.
He had duck for mains which he said was ok.
I honestly wouldn’t recommend here, it lacks everything, no music, atmosphere or anything else.
If yous wish to eat in Westport go to Pantry and Corkscrew down round the corner, everything in it is amazing from staff, ambience, food and price

We are in Sage on St Patrick’s Day we didn’t have a booking but got a table. The restaurant was busy. We were seated at a table the table was laid lovely little touches like real napkins. The waitress brought us home made bread butter hummus and olives delicious . We had a seafood sample plate for starter oysters prawns smoked salmon octopus calamari to make but a few - delicious. We both had fish as main course I had cod and himself had halibut - delicious l. To finish we had a fruit and hazelnut meringue an explosion of flavours. To our surprise we were offered a complementary shot and home made chocolates - delicious. Prices are middle of the road food amazing staff lovely so friendly. Highly recommend Sage High Street Westport. Best meal we have eaten out in a long time.
We will be back

SAGE is a fantastic restaurant that truly elevates the culinary scene in Westport. While the portions may be slightly smaller, they are perfectly sized for a delightful multi-course meal. Here, quality reigns supreme.
Eva, our host, was exceptional. Her warmth and knowledge made the dining experience even more enjoyable. The entire staff was welcoming and accommodating, patiently explaining the menu and the enticing daily specials.
Booking ahead is recommended, but trust me, this is a restaurant worth planning for. I can't wait to return and explore their menu further!

I couldn't have made a better choice for my birthday celebration on July 13th. We opted for a 6:30pm slot and were offered a choice of Early Bird or A La Carte, we opted for the latter.
I had the Clew Bay Scallops - two perfectly cooked plump Scallops in a Cauliflower Miso soup followed by Rump of Mayo Lamb. I still salivate when I think of them. Brilliant locally sourced ingredients cooked perfectly.
Appetisers, Sorbet and Schnapps were very nice added touches also.
The staff were incredible - and incredibly busy.
No wonder, this is one of the best meals I have ever eaten in Ireland.
Who wouldn't want to eat here?
Thank you to all at Sage for a very memorable all round experience.

The restaurant is welcoming, warm and intimate. The chef and his wife run the place and make you feel like part of their family. We ate divinely, I think the best lamb ever. The meat is quality, cooked to perfection and accompanied by top-quality side dishes.
Don't hesitate to enter Sage, one of the best dinners ever. Must stop in Westport!

We were trying to arrange a meal for a catchup with friends from Australia. The restaurant we were hoping to go to didn’t open on a Tuesday so it was for that reason that we found and made a reservation at Sage. When we arrived the restaurant was full and it wasn’t long before we realised why. The greeting from the front of house team was splendid as was the continued service throughout evening, and we were last to leave. The menu offerings were interesting and not too many (just enough). The team were very aware of the menu but also communicated with the kitchen for our dietary needs. The food was superb and absolutely delicious. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals and our evening at Sage. Four very happy people. Can’t wait to go again.

It has been a long time since I’ve had a meal where I could taste every fresh and tasty ingredient. Lovely cosy feel, friendly and efficient staff and a chef who knows how to use fresh local ingredients. My first visit but certainly not my last. Well worth a visit.
