This establishment is so welcoming and tidy. The staff are articulate and fully orientated to the customer. The surroundings are excellent and the parking more than ample. Food was excellent (we had breakfasts) and I noted the lunch menu in the way out, - this...seemed more than able to cater for all tastes.More

How wrong can you make a Caesar salad?? In this restaurant very wrong. Unfortunately this establishment relies too heavily on past reputation, easy location and attractive surroundings and is forgetting the key ingredient- good food. I can honestly say I was served one of the...worse salads that I had ever had. My friends chicken burger was mediocre. The chicken was chewy and rubbery. This was the second occasion that we had visited this restaurant in the last month- I believe in giving a place a second chance- don’t waste your money.More

This used to be the spot to stop at on the way home from Dublin but not anymore. Steaks are very bland. Chips, cream potatoes all very school dinner like. Not tasty at all. Pepper sauce was a funny white colour and tasted funny. Staff...while friendly aren't switched on. Sat for 10 mins after finishing and nobody came to clear are table or offer us a desert menu. It wasn't busy. We just got up and left. It is surviving on it's reputation but word is spreading.More

I'm not sure how this place gets the reviews it does - completely overrated. 2 dry tasteless burgers way overpriced. The server was an absolutely lady so the stars are solely for her.

Went with 3 friends for dinner. What a let down. Starters were lovely....Not so much the main. Plaice was over cooked . Potatoes too. Champ was very dry and not much flavour. The gratin potatoes were just cream with absolutely no seasoning. We complained to...the manager and it was taken from the bill. However, the lady who served us was absolutely fantastic and apologised on behalf of the restaurant.More

Arrived for lunch with high expectations, have visited this place for many years whilst travelling. Have to say I was disappointed, no friendly welcome, issued with a lunch menu which was extremely limited and had to ask for lite bite menu as the other looked...like a very heavy dinner menu missing the usual burger/fish chips etc. Food was decent but sadly the service was a bit lacking, felt like a bother not having one of the 5 main courses, which looked pre prepared due to the speed others were served that arrived after us. Felt let down by a place I've always loved to stop off at. It will definitely make me think twice about calling again.More

Disgusted about the price hike you have put up for a fillet stake in your restaurant. How is that a family restaurant?? €38 for a fillet stake €48 for a sirloin steak... and extra for sides in top of that....are you kidding me .. at...least a €15 increase since I was last there with my family. Had a traditional Xmas meal every Year for the past 8 years with my family here...birthday and special occasions through the year and often morning breakfast... We were given a pathetic excuse from one of your staff for the hike and left in disgust. We are known for how good our beef is in this country but you have exploited this in the wrong way... you Lost our custom and our friends and family custom as no excuse justifies this hike AT ALL!!! You have totally disgusted me and disappointed my family...and you have no consideration for the costs you have out on people. Shame on you.More

I booked a table for 12 people for my parent's 60th Wedding Anniversay. We were all very happy with the Monasterboice Inn. The whole place is beautifully decorated and the staff are all very efficient and friendly. There was a lovely spacious area beside the...function room where we waited for everyone to arrive. The staff brought us drinks and menus and put some favours and flowers on the table that we provided. The A la carte menu is extensive. The food was delicious and we were all very impressed with the service. I would like to thank Clara who was very helpfull and pleasant. I would definitely recommend The Monasterboice Inn and can't wait to return again soon.More

The restaurant is very clean and well laid out. On arrival we were shown promptly to our seats and given the menus as we ordered drinks. The three of us ordered garlic mushrooms for starters, they were fresh, covered in bread crumbs and perfectly cooked....The portion is very generous. For mains we had two steaks with pepper sauce, one plaice both with chips and mash. The steaks were cooked to perfection as was the fish. The quality and standard of food never disappoints me, as usual 10/10, thankyou for another great evening guys.More

Visited here on Friday lunchtime in February. After reading all the excellent reviews my expectations were high. On the positive side; the portions are very generous and service was good. The venue itself is nicely laid out (bar area and separate restaurant and function room)....The food was a bit disappointing - I had a chicken salad which was tasty but the plate was overloaded with dressing, onions and salad leaves so it was impossible to eat it all. My partner had the seafood chowder which didn't have a lot of fish in it and was more like a soup. He couldn't finish it. While its styled as a restaurant, its really more pub grub - big portions of regular food at good prices.More

Stopped off for lunch after a walk. Felt very safe in terms of social distancing, vaccine certs etc. We got the a la carte menu but also a light bites menu which was great! Delicious toasted sandwiches and wraps all round. Lovely staff. Would recommend!

We both decided to go here for our Scampi fix, this restaurant has to be the best in the business. The place is cosy and warm. Everything about this restaurant is professional. On arrival we were asked for our Covid certs and ID. You are...as safe as you can be when out, well done the staff and management. We ordered chicken wings to share, they were fresh, cooked perfectly and the sauce is superb. For mains we both had a large and a small scampi with chips and saute potatoes. For years the scampi is top class here and I am amazed at the quality of the food in this restaurant. The service is better than ever. If you are looking for top class food, service in a very safe homely environment this is the place. Thankyou to the staff, the chef, the management and the bar man for a great evening and yes we will be back and yes highly recommended.More

I had the Brie and chicken wings to start, both were delicious, especially the brie. Often brie can be solid by the time it comes out, but it was still nice a gooey when I cut into it. I had the Steak and chips for...my main. The steak was excellent. It was tender, cooked exactly medium rare and remained warm the entire time. The only downside was the chips. they were nothing special and I didn't really touch them. there's not much excuse for not having great chips. However everything else made up for this. The Sticky toffee pudding and the eclair were great deserts also. the staff were friendly and helpful. I will definitely go back.More

Arrived at lunchtime and it was very busy but you didn’t feel rushed. We were greeted at the door were our covid Certa were checked. We had a great girl with pink hair serving us (I didn’t get her name) and she is the reason...for my review. She was friendly, welcoming and attentive. She made sure we had everything we needed and at one stage spotted some cutlery on the table had a small mark on it and hurried to replace it all without any fuss. She was chatty without being too much. If I was management I would be making sure she was well looked after. For starters we had mushroom vol at vents and for mains we had beef casserole and Caesar salad, finished off with a beautiful lemon cheesecake and I can honestly say everything was delicious. Good portion sizes. We will definitely be back.More

I only realised yesterday when we called in on our way back North and had our usual half scampi Dublin bay succulent prawns for starters and a shared 20 ounce sirloin of the most magnificent Irish beef cooked as usual to a perfection medium/ rare..., that I had been coming here for 50 years since my father and my grandfather used to call in from the races for a treat. How can an establishment maintain that quality of delicious food and exceptional service. They deserve an outstanding award for exceptional service to Irish hospitality presented by the President himself .This is a most remarkable pub and road house which consistently churns out food of such a high standard,I have traveled from Kerry / west Cork and all other parts of Ireland in the anticipation of perfect sirloin cooked to perfection.More
