Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I myself am from drogheda and haven't had food in the hops for a more than a year and myself, my mam and my son booked a table for lunch on Friday. First of all I'd like to say that all the waitresses had masks on, there was handsanitiser on the walls so I immediately felt safe. The portion size is more than generous, even on the kids menu, I ordered steak and I only eat it rare and it was cooked to perfection. Well worth the money I'll defenietly be back

I was in the hops twice since opening after the COVID 19 lockdown and have eaten many times before the pandemic. The friendly and relaxing atmosphere is experienced throughout every time I visit even through these new and confusing measures. I was served by a young waitress erin who was very attentive and friendly and was also looked after by sue who made sure everything was perfect for me and my friends. The two ladies were a dream team in the bar catering for all customers while sparking conversations with everyone. I am a big fan of the bar and will definitely continue coming in for food and drinks... Btw the potatas bravas is amazing!

We stayed in the DHotel on Tuesday night and booked a table in the hops for dinner, we were a family of four. When we arrived down for dinner at 7pm we were greeted by the manager on Duty( Tracy), she explained to us that we were booked in to Goodwins and not the hops, i told her that we specifically asked at the reception to dine in the hops, even though she was extremely busy with only two other staff to help, she managed to get us a table and looked after us really well.(Thank you) Food was a bit slow but i understood because of How busy they were but Tracy got the kids food out promptly so they were happy. The Server who brought out our food could of being a bit more friendlier, she was quiet rude she never even asked us if we needed condiments or more drinks, rest of staff friendly.

Visited The Hops last night for dinner and drinks with friends. We were initially seated in a dirty smoking area and basically forgotten about. Finally got someone's attention to order drinks and ask for some menus 30 minutes after sitting down. I then asked the someone if it was possible to get a table inside and we were then taken to an empty function room 45 minutes after arriving. Still without any drinks. Enough was enough at that point and we decided to leave and go elsewhere.

I tried calling 10 times but no one ever picked up. Also left a message, no one responded. We went to the restaurant early and sat in the outdoor part with the retractable ceiling, a place we always enjoyed before. I told the girl I called 10 times and she said, oh we never pick up the phone, it could be for anybody in the hotel ( I did press 2 to get to the resturaunt bookings) We ordered two pints and was told we had to pay in advance each round in cash. My son went to the ATM to get cash. The girl eventually came back and we gave her €20.00 and asked for 2 more pints, we never saw her again. My son went to the bar after about 20 minutes and explained and they gave us 2 more pints. They then told us we had to go outside to a US School Bus to order and pay up front and that they only served residents in the restaurant. Bizarre, we had all these take outs during lockdown and we wanted to be served. The burger was good but with all new staff and a wonderful team gone, it was very very disappointing. They couldn't care less. A couple beside us with 2 kids just got up and left when they were told that they had to order from the bus and bring the food back. Others just left too. Terrible. Couldn't wait to leave the place. Very unprofessional

While the food was nice, the service was slow and our orders were all mixed up. My daughter ordered chicken goujons and got fish. My other kids ordered half portions of a roast turkey dinner and got full portions (we only paid for half portions). My Caesar salad was smothered in dressing (I should’ve gotten in on the side). The staff we encountered were all really lovely and attentive but we waited a good while for the food and the bill at the end. We had an elderly relative with us and the booth was exceptionally uncomfortable for her. I don’t think I’ll return.

Myself and a colleague ate here in the hops bar recently and found the bar to be a very cosy set up indeed. The manager on the evening Sue who was extremely friendly and helpful recommended the lamb shank which was fabulous. All in all between the food and the service id highly recommended.

This week was our first time in the Hops Bar. We were greeted by a lovely lady called Tracey she was very friendly and very focused on her job. She advised us of some options that was available which was additional to the dishes on the set menu. She showed us to our table while also engaging in a nice friendly chat which made us feel very welcome there. The food was fabulous and very generous portions. Service was very fast and efficient and from all Tracey's recommendations we will most definitely be back..

We ate in The Hops a number of times during a 3 night stay. The food was great value and we were pleased to see the prices haven't increased due to Covid restrictions. April, Louise and Ruth all provided us with personal and very helpful service.

After eating in Goodwins on Friday, we were expecting nice grub here too and we weren't let down. The chicken stir fry was delicious as were the burgers and fish n chips. Great service and value for money. Highly recommended.

I was delighted to win one of the hops package deals through Facebook and decided to have a birthday gathering. The package included a reserved area for 20 people with finger food which was absolutely gorgeous, a fabulous birthday cake and there was a dj also. Also with the package was overnight accomodation with breakfast. Sarah and her staff on the night could not do enough for us. She was amazing even though she was busy and she makes the most amazing pornstar martinis. Thank you Sarah for a great night and also thank you to Serena for the very quick responses to all my emails. She was so efficient.. Will be back again soon

I decided to go to the Hops bar which is located in the D Hotel with a couple of friends last night to watch the football and get out of the house after being confined for so long due to Covid 19. Staff was lovely and attentive and bar was clean with social distancing measures in place. However Man City winning wasn't the most upsetting sight for the night. During the match i happened to witness a man in a suit (who i assume is in a managerial position) aggressively approach his staff in front of the whole bar. The reason for this mans anger and aggressiveness is unknown to myself and the others at my table but i cannot imagine his approach towards his team members were necessary nor professional. As someone who works in a senior manager position myself, i found the way in which this public confrontation played out really upsetting on behalf of the staff that were working themselves into the ground last night. I understand that due to new measures and rules it is a stressful time for all businesses but what i witnessed last night was a man that clearly has anger issues and taking it out on his undeserving staff. I have been to the hops a couple of times and have always been looked after by your staff. Food and service is always perfect so I hope this issue can be resolved for the sake of both costumers, myself and staff. Thank you.
