Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Visited with family on Paddy's Day. We had food and many drinks! Food was fantastic, far surpassed my expectations from a small pub! Service was very friendly and despite it being rammed at times, was impressed with how the staff kept pace. Will definitely return...when next in Ireland visiting Noel and WendyMore

Cold Irish coffee, very disappointed. Called in for the "award winning Irish coffee" and was served a glass that was stone cold. I thought it must have been on the bar waiting for a waitress to deliver for a while, and asked for some hot...water to top it up. The cream head disappeared and the drink wasn't any warmer. Asked for a pot of boiled water then, which was stone cold when it arrived. Mystery solved. A waste of 8.50 euro.More

We stopped for lunch after visiting King John's Castle (which is across the street from the Pub) on a cold, drizzly day. It was a quiet day and the folks at the pub were very nice, friendly and attentive. Since it wasn't busy, it was...quiet where you could have an easy conversation. The food was outstanding and the portions large. Since its the oldest pub in Limerick, the inside had that old world feel with aged wood, stained glass windows, and a bar with character. Although the atmosphere was nice, go for the food.More

Had looked forward to the pub from all the good reviews, but alas, lamest chicken and stuffing sandwich ever. Cheap white bread, a smidge of mayo smeared on it, a bit of garlicky stuffing, some small pieces of chicken thrown on top. Nothing was mixed...up, it looked the opposite of appetizing. Was hungry, so ate the chicken pieces with a fork. I would say about the amount of chicken you get in one chicken tender at Supermac (just as a size comparison). The ham/cabbage/Potato dish was good. We had a good laugh about he place mat "history" story, at least we hope it was supposed to be a joke, seeing how factually inaccurate and ridiculous the story was. Unless all my information is incorrect, the picture of "Katie Daly" was Katharine Parnell; she would have been quite the phenom bootlegger at age 9 or 12 if the timeline is correct; and no, there were no female prisoners at Alcatraz. Quite a tale, just don't sell it as fact.More

Nice cosy pub opposite the Castle where we enjoyed our sandwiches and drinks served with a smile on a lunchtime visit. Looking at Katy Daly's photo on the menu ( It's outside on the wall too) and reading about her bootlegging career and incarceration in...Alcatraz I was thinking of how demure she looked. Then I recognised her! Katy is no other than Katherine O Shea, wife of William O'Shea MP and beloved of Charles Stewart Parnell who was at the centre of the scandal which ended the political career of Parnell and shocked Victorian society. A double life for sure!More

After a day of sight seeing we walked in and asked for a table for 6, small for us they said the wait would be 10 minutes. We are used to waiting longer so we're not detered at all. Well worth the less than 10...minute wait. The food was so good we would have asked for more if we had the room. There are so many things I'd order if we were in the area again.More

So, this is one of the oldest public houses in Limerick, the space has been here here since around the late 1800`s, so the signage goes, so for any history people, I would recommend. The food is a good quality local option. I had the...bacon and cabbage on the evening I was here, and it was very rewarding. The prices are reasonable, and the staff are friendly. The night I was here, there was a comedy club taking place upstairs - 6 euro entry. For summer evenings, the outdoor area on Nicholas Street is perfect and the lads have put some good work into getting to this stage. If around Limerick or visiting, give a try and also had some folk music on this night.More

I was visiting Limerick in the off-season, and popped in to Katie Dalys for an Irish coffee before touring the Castle. It was empty except for a local at the bar. Warm and cozy and a delicious Irish coffee! The staff was very friendly and...I stopped back in after touring the Castle to have lunch. It was busier then, but I was seated immediately near the fireplace and enjoyed bangers and mash for lunch - more than I could eat with 3 large sausages with a delicious onion relish on top. I felt like a local when both the staff and the gentleman at the bar recognized me from earlier in the day. A truly authentic and delightful find!More

It was our first time in Katie Daly's, but they made us feel like welcome old friends. We had 7 and 5 year old boys with our group, and the staff, especially Jeff, did an amazing job at connecting with them, making them laugh --...they loved the place!! It was a busy day, yet everything was quick. The atmosphere is welcoming and festive. The menu has a wonderfully broad selection. The food was truly marvelous -- we all had different items, and we all agreed it's some of the best pub food we can remember. Our family had a fun, memorable time. We'll head straight there next time we are in Limerick!!More
