The service was excellent and the owners were lovely. The kitchen staff was very willing to accommodate people’s food allergies and restrictions. The atmosphere of the pub was inviting and full of entertainment, such as hurling matches on the wall-sized TV on the back wall.

Great bar and great food

Great staff too. The lads were very welcoming and helpful. Great to sit and relax with good food and a few drinks. Delighted we tried this bar/resteraunt. The special was roast beef and it was just so tender it was beautiful. Thanks for the warm welcome lads.

I ate at Lanigans for several nights in a row during my stay at their hostel (which is also great!!) The food and drinks were great, and the staff was so lovely. They had no problem making edits to our meals depending on dietary needs. The vegetable curry was delish

Nice food but poor staff etiquette

Ate here as a group of 8 with a booking. Positives - Food was excellent and service very good. We wanted to watch a match so we were put on a central table so we all had views of a TV. Chicken tenders were very nice and the pizzas. Negatives - no masks or visors worn by Staff but they did take contact tracing info at the start. Other tables were not 2 metres apart and staff did not stop people at these tables swapping seats and effectively moving to be beside each other. I also asked for extra gravy and was charged an extra euro which was a bit needless. No social distancing in the men’s bathroom, there was probably only room for 2 people max but no signs up so I ended up being in there with 4 others and it was extremely uncomfortable as there was no space between any of us

Very disappointed service left a lot to desire , food was good quality most dishes were returned no questioning by staff was the meal okay. When ordering drinks we had to request the order four times. Standards of some staff was inept.

Worst service ever, granted, when we walked in the Waitress told us that they were a little under staff for the night. There were five of us, three of us sorted beers and one friend ordered a martini and the other on margarita it literally took 20 minutes for the drinks to come and they Brought two martinis my friend didn’t make a big deal about it. The food actually wasn’t too bad. The other problem is that our finished plates sat on the table for another 30 minutes before we had to ask the girl can they please take away the dinner plates we were considering ordering dessert. And they also have an aversion to giving you a glass of water two different times we asked for water and both times I literally had to go up to the bar and get up myself, and the bartender gave me a look when I ordered it like I was inconveniencing him and he was The manager. Lastly, my sister ordered a cosmopolitan that came back that was total cranberry juice and they gave an attitude when she complained but for 15 euro I wasn’t paying for a glass of cranberry juice. Again, I felt bad that they were understaffed, but they were just not good in service. They must have past our tables 5 times and never checked on us..

Fun pub with good food and a huge TV to watch sports.

Great stop for later dinner. We found out that a lot of pubs stop dinner service at 8. Luckily we found Lanigan’s serves dinner until 9pm. They had live music and a menu with $10 items (Mon-Thurs) and a special on Irish stew for $14.95 which I had to try. It was really good. They also have a gigantic screen showing hurling matches or other sports.

Delicious food, so good we ate here twice

We had the grilled chicken fillet burger which was lovely and juicy but cooked to perfection. My friend had BBQ buffalo wings which were so tasty and just falling off the bone. We enjoyed it so much we went back the following night and had the Homemade Garlic Mushrooms which were just delicious and the buffalo wings again. And they were just as tasty. Lovely area, staff couldn't do enough for us, very nice portion sizes and very reasonably priced. Would go back in a heartbeat and will recommend to anyone.

Worst sandwich I've ever bought!

Not sure how you can get a couple of sandwiches so wrong but they did! I ordered the Caesar chicken wrap, my husband the chicken and stuffing panini....both absolutely bone dry! The wrap was literally dry chicken, bacon and lettuce, no Caesar dressing in sight...and was falling apart it was so dry. The chicken and stuffing panini was the same. So disappointed as we were only in Kilkenny for the afternoon and I'm sure there was loads of great places to go for lunch. Hopefully this will save someone else a disappointment.

Must-go in Kilkenny!

Lanigan’s is an amazing bar and restaurant that you have to check out if you are in Kilkenny. They offer a variety of items from amazing full Irish breakfasts, great choices in dinners, and good drinks as well for an affordable price! The live music in the bar is a lot of fun on the weekends! The staff as a whole was extremely welcoming and accommodating to our large group which was very appreciated, I highly recommend!

Match and Lunch in Lanigans

We stopped into Lanigans as a family of 5 en route to a soccer match outside the city. We also wanted somewhere to watch the Mayo match- ordered food and drinks and had perfect view of the match. Excellent service, with the owner keeping eye on everyone as it was very busy but still attended to everyone’s needs. Lovely pub and atmosphere. Will be back

I had lunch in here recently. The waiter was friendly. But after we sat down and ordered after that a few other staff came in and they were the loudest people in the restaurant/bar and it was hard to get their attention. Our food arrived cold and was not nice at all. I had roast beef and it was actually disgusting I couldn’t eat much of it and we went somewhere else after here and had food it was that bad, And nobody came near us to ask if it was ok or not. And they seen that we had barely touched the plates but did not care less as they were all too busy chatting amongst themselves. They ignored others that came in for ages. And one table asked twice for a menu and had to walk up to order, my advice is avoid if you want food.

We arrived late on a weeknight but we were welcomed and treated to traditional Irish live music and some Simon and Garfinkel as well. Our waitstaff was super kind to us and took time to go over the menu. The monkfish was just right and the four of us enjoyed a delightful evening.

A Wonderful All Day Experience

Wonderful and accommodating staff for a large group. They routinely made sure there was space for all of us to eat and enjoy the night. Wood was excellent and always came out quick. Live music at night made the atmosphere unforgettable

Dog pound?

Where should I start, first off we came over from Liverpool and tried lanigans as we love it at home and thought we would get somewhat of a similar experience. Personally I felt we did not get a pleasant greeting and we still sat down and ordered food although we should of turned away. Myself and my friends ordered a ham and cheese melt but what came out on the plate I wouldn’t feed it to my dog. The ham was tough, white and full of lard, the cheese like play dough. The bread was not toasted even though it said on menu it was. Bread was soggy, no butter and as tough as you get I’m grateful I have my turkey teeth as it would of be like getting a string around my teeth and slamming a door otherwise. The chips were alright nothing to rave about. To top this off we were waiting a good 15 minutes for somthing that should of been a 5 minute job.
