Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Cracking bar with great music and a lively atmosphere. Despite visiting on a busy Saturday night it was never difficult to get a round in - excellent bar staff.

This place has gone downhill, needs a revamp. Price of drink more expensive than hotel bars by 2€ , 17€ for one pint and one barcadi and coke . No music on Sunday evening we were there, and bar staff very sour faced. Would not...recommend, plenty of other places to spend your hard earned cash in. :)More

This is a place that could and should be better. It's very popular and often crowded but at the same time it seems that it also means a lack of incentive to be and do better. Food quality was so-so at best despite how pricey...it was. Service was fairly quick. It was VERY noisy with shouting clientele that drowned out the good house band (Wallop The Cat) that ruined that experience. It was actually rude to the performers. There is a city parking lot quite a bit away but no dedicated lot for customers.More

Matt the Millers was on our list of dinner choices and we got there around 6:30pm just before the dinner rush. The restaurant was also a bar and has three levels. It seemed like the top floor held the kitchen and dining for large parties....The bottom basement floor was just a bar, and the main floor has about 15 tables of 2-4 with 2 bars. Although it was pretty big, it filled up quickly. We got an appetizer platter to share, a pornstar cocktail, and tried a few whiskeys because this bar is known for being a pretty good whiskey bar.  The food and drinks were pretty good and as we ate, we had a front row seat to people watch all the other tourists coming in looking for a place to eat. Some folks were willing to wait at the bar, while others were simply turned away. They had a few servers but it certainly felt busier than what they were expecting. Once again in Kilkenny, the staff was very nice to us. For more recommendations and tips... Follow @vanmblinMore

This traditional Irish Pub with live music , is located right near John's Bridge, only a few minutes walking from High Str. and Kilkenny Castle. Unfortunately , we came in too late to enjoy dinner (around 20:00) : They did apologize that all they could...offer us was one portion of chips with our beer. The beers were cold , live music was nice and service was quick and friendly. Well.... the kitchen was closed but we had fun. Recommended.More

We walked in at about 1:30pm, it wasn’t overly busy, we were sat at a dirty table with salt all over it and I expected the waitress to come and clean it. Instead she plonked menus on the table and muttered something about soup as...she walked away. I asked her to clean it and she came over with a dry scrap of blue paper and carelessly wiped half the table leaving it still covered in salt. We waited a few minutes and as no one came over we had to get up and leave. Very disappointing experience.More

Our first dinner in Ireland, so we had Guinness and the Medieval beef and Guinness stew. Both were great. It was one of the best beef stew we had in all of Ireland. Atmosphere is super fun. Staff was great! Wonderful!

had a terrible time. I find it's the most unsafe and un gay-friendly place I've ever been to. the bouncer told me I'd get kicked out if I continued to dance that way. was dancing with my friend on the dance floor. later that night...I was at the bar getting a drink a big lad put me in a headlock from behind and brought me down to the ground. security seemed to not see it even though in the middle of the bar. I then stopped going for a while as I felt so unsafe there and the bouncers care more about how someone is dancing than the safety of the patrons. I went back to give it a second chance and there was a cigarette filter in my pint when I went back to the bar to get a fresh one the bartender was rude as if I was accusing him of doing it. all I wanted was a fresh pint. If you are a gay person going to visit Kilkenny stay away from this place or you will feel like no one wants you there.More

We were on the hunt for fish & chips and this restaurant was recommended. However the establishment would have been forthcoming if their menu had noted that the fish was "breaded". So, in our experience, the service was average and the price okay, the fish...and chips are breaded.More

Filthy! Whilst the food my family and ate was tasty the premises needs a thorough clean. It really took from the overall dining experience and I won’t be eating here again.

We came to Kilkenny on our way home from Waterford. We had lunch which was absolutely delicious. The staff was so friendly and polite. The food here is so so good. Not expensive either which is a bonus.
